Chapter 183 Doubt

Chapter 183 Doubt

Inside the main tent, Qi Wuhan was looking at something in his palm, with a hint of tenderness in his eyes. When he caught a glimpse of a figure coming outside the tent, he put the thing back into his arms, and his eyes returned to their usual indifference.

"Your Highness."

"What is it?"

Ye Xuanhe came in and reported, "The Third Prince has arrived."

"I know." Qi Wuhan said indifferently.

"There's one more thing," Ye Xuanhe paused, his tone revealing a hint of meaning, "I wonder if Your Highness is interested?"

"Tell me about it." Qi Wuhan casually picked up the wine jug on the table and poured a glass of wine. When he put the jug down, he heard Ye Xuanhe say, "The Third Prince brought a woman with him this time." He paused for a moment, took a sip calmly, and said nonchalantly, "So what?"

"Your Highness, don't you want to know who it is?" Ye Xuanhe asked with interest.

"Have you found out?" Qi Wuhan asked casually.

Ye Xuanhe replied, "Since the Third Prince brought people with him to the war, he must be very concerned. I heard that after the Third Prince's wife passed away a few years ago, the Third Prince has never appointed a new princess. I guess that woman must be the new princess chosen by the Third Prince."

"So you mean to capture the person and use him as a hostage?" Qi Wuhan casually shook the wine glass in his hand, and a pair of cold peach blossom eyes were reflected in the bright wine.

"Your Highness said before that we must win fairly. I am just giving you a reminder. I will naturally listen to Your Highness on how to do it." Ye Xuanhe said.

"Is there anything else?" Qi Wuhan looked at the wine glass in his hand, his indifferent tone sounding nonchalant.

"I'll take my leave." Ye Xuanhe bowed.

Qi Wuhan glanced at his back, a hint of coldness flashed across his eyes, he put the wine glass on the table, called out "Dark Moon", and a shadow appeared silently in the tent.

"Go do something for me."

Elsewhere, after returning from Cui Hai, Prince Rui heard the guard at the door report that Prince Fu had been there and had spoken with Jiang Lan for a while. He glanced inside, his gaze lingering on the slender figure by the window. After entering, he casually asked, "What did you say to the fifth brother?"

Jiang Lan heard his voice before he entered the room. Her nerves tensed again. She took a deep breath and replied calmly, "Nothing. I just asked Fifth Prince to be careful on the way back." As she spoke, she turned around and faced him directly. "Is Your Highness afraid that I might make a mistake?"

Prince Rui chuckled, walked over and sat down, then said, "General Cui is seriously injured and I'm afraid he won't be able to get out of bed for a while. Do you think I should tell him my father's will? If he knew I was here to take over his position as commander-in-chief, I'm afraid he would harbor resentment towards me."

Jiang Lan didn't say anything.

Prince Rui sneered sinisterly, "You had a lot to say to your fifth brother, but why are you so silent when you come to me?"

"I don't understand what's going on in the military camp, so I'd better not give Your Highness any advice." Jiang Lan said in a distant tone.

King Rui ordered, "I told you to speak."

Jiang Lan thought for a moment and said, "Since General Cui is seriously injured, Your Highness should not talk about it for now and let him recover first."

Prince Rui curled his lips, his eyes swept across her calm face, and jokingly said, "I thought you had a grudge against everyone in the general's mansion."

At this time, the guards brought lunch.

After Prince Rui sat down, he beckoned to Jiang Lan. She stood there for two seconds, then walked over and sat down opposite him.

Seeing how self-conscious she was, Prince Rui gestured to the seat next to him and said, "Come and sit here."

As soon as she finished speaking, Jiang Lan suddenly turned her back, raised her hand to cover her mouth and retched. She caught a glimpse of the fish on the table and felt nauseous.

"What's wrong with you?" Prince Rui stared at half of her face, narrowing his eyes slightly. There was a hint of cruelty in his sinister eyes, as if he was suspicious.

Jiang Lan suppressed her nausea and turned around to see the fish on the table. She couldn't help but feel like retching again, but she looked away and replied in a casual tone, "Maybe it's just the climate. I feel a little uncomfortable, but it's nothing."

Prince Rui stared at her calm face for two seconds and said, "Let's ask Military Doctor Sun to come and take a look."

"No need, it's really nothing." Jiang Lan said.

Prince Rui narrowed his eyes slightly, "Are you hiding something from me?"

Jiang Lan gritted her teeth, looked him straight in the eye, and said, "Your Highness, why do you care so much about me? You clearly can't forget the princess, so why are you so fickle and make people look down on you—"

King Rui's expression became increasingly gloomy. Before he finished speaking, he swept the wine jug in front of him to the ground.

Hearing a clanging sound from inside, two guards rushed in. However, they immediately retreated after being glanced at by King Rui's sinister eyes.

"I spoke out of turn. Your Highness, don't take my words to heart." Jiang Lan stood up to apologize. A wise man never suffers a loss in front of him. He should bow his head when necessary. She had no doubt that this man would attack her if he went crazy, but she couldn't conflict with him now. Although she was not completely sure, she couldn't take the risk.

King Rui stared at her seemingly submissive face, then suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards him, warning her, "Don't play tricks on me. I hate being deceived the most. If I find out you've deceived me..."

At this point, his hand gripping her wrist made a crackling sound as bones and flesh rubbed against each other. Jiang Lan frowned in pain and shouted, "I didn't lie to you."

Prince Rui stared into her angry eyes, and after a moment he said in a commanding tone, "Sit down."

Jiang Lan was held by him and sat on the stool next to him. After he withdrew his hand, he picked up the chopsticks, picked up a piece of fish and put it in the bowl, then pushed the bowl in front of her and handed her the chopsticks for her to eat.

When she picked up the white piece of fish meat with chopsticks, she felt so nauseous that she wanted to vomit, but she pretended to be calm and ate it. As soon as she put it in her mouth, she wanted to vomit it out, and she swallowed hard before she could swallow it.

King Rui asked her to eat more, but Jiang Lan said she didn't like fish and picked up a piece of pork ribs instead. King Rui saw that she didn't feel anything unusual after eating it, and his doubts dissipated a little.

After the meal, King Rui asked someone to take Jiang Lan downstairs to rest. As soon as she returned to her room, she closed the door and felt nauseous and wanted to vomit. It took her a long time to feel better.

She raised her hand and gently stroked her lower abdomen. After the surprise, she felt panic. If she was discovered, she might not be able to save herself. She almost exposed herself just now. She must be more careful in the future.

She calculated the days carefully again, looked down at her belly which she gently stroked with her hands, and muttered to herself, "It should be two months now..."

Nothing can be seen now, but it will definitely be discovered over time.

She must prepare early, plan a retreat, and make sure her child is safe.

Prince Fu will set off tomorrow. The only one who can help her is probably Huo Chen, but she is not sure which side the other party is on. She has to find a chance to find out first. If the other party is willing to help her, then her chances will be much greater.
