Chapter 231: The Reappearance of the Corpse Demon (2)

Chapter 231: The Reappearance of the Corpse Demon (2)

Tao Zi unfolded the crumpled piece of paper in her palm. There were only two small words on it: Demon, escape.

Even though she was mentally prepared, Li Xiu still found it a little unbelievable: "Are they really demons?"

She said with a gloomy look in her eyes: "The progress is too fast."

Yue Qingya raised his gaze, looked at her, and asked, "What do you mean?"

She briefly recounted the events of Xile Town and Xulan Palace.

Li Xiu suddenly took a deep breath and said, "It's only been about two years for him to reach his current state. If it takes a while longer, won't he be able to completely blend in with the mortals?"

Tao Zi calmly asked, "How do you know there are no demons sneaking in now?"

He felt a chill on his back, but Yue Qingya remained calm and said, "We need to find that waiter and find out what happened."

"Not only that, there's also the lady boss behind him." Tao Zi pondered for a moment, then said, "Let's go out and take a look tonight."

Yue Qingya nodded in agreement and added, "Okay, take the waiter with you."

Li Xiu looked at the two calm faces, then forcibly picked up the little fox beside her and comforted her, "Little fox, don't be afraid, I'm here."

"I'm not afraid. To me, there's no difference between those demons and you Taoist cultivators. We're all human... Don't rub my hair!"

The little fox struggled, but Li Xiu continued to hold it down with an expressionless face.

Yue Qingya asked, "Could this be related to alien races?"

It suddenly became quiet and turned to look at them.

Tao Zi replied, "It's definitely related. It's just the difference between the alien race being in the open and the hidden."

He frowned, thinking back to the Demonic Cultivators of the Demonic Palace: "Which Demonic Cultivator is crazy enough to cooperate with aliens?"

Li Xiumu said with a sullen face, "I'm afraid it's not just the demon cultivators who are going crazy."

"How can you humans be so noisy? Unlike us demons, we are so considerate."

Tao Zi struck with precision: "Your demon race is in decline, and I'm afraid you're no longer able to cause trouble. This is fundamentally different from knowing the big picture."

The little fox was furious and was about to speak when he was interrupted by a knock on the door.

Yue Qingya removed the soundproofing spell and said, "Please come in."

As the door opened, the boss appeared in front of everyone. He put on a proper smile and said, "Dear guests, do you need hot water service?"

Tao Zi refused: "No need, we need to rest."

"That's really disturbing."

The boss said this, closed the door and left.

Yue Qingya cast the soundproofing spell again.

Li Xiu asked doubtfully, "Why did the boss seem quite normal just now?"

Tao Zi calmly replied, "Maybe it's studying."

"Um?"

Yue Qingya elaborated: "Teach every passerby what a normal human being should be like, and then transform them into demons."

He stiffened and said, "The normal waiter here looks grumpy. So that vendor we met earlier also looked grumpy? That doesn't make sense. The owner looked very kind."

The little fox wagged its tail and taunted, "How do you know that the waiter is a normal person?"

Tao Zi said calmly, "Perhaps the innkeeper is the manager here, and since the waiter still has some sense, he's being kept under observation."

The little fox wondered, "Then why didn't he stop the waiter from chasing the customers away?"

"Maybe it's because no one who enters this town can leave."

Li Xiu's body stiffened even more: "Really? What you said makes me even more nervous."

"Little fox, protect him."

The little fox wagged its tail and said lazily, "I'll try my best."

"No! I'm going out with you tonight." He took a deep breath and said, "My intuition tells me that separating from you is the most dangerous thing to do."

Tao Zi chuckled softly and looked at Yue Qingya. He nodded, removed the soundproofing spell, and cast another formation instead.

Tao Zi said slowly, "Rest. You must be tired after all the hard work."

Li Xiu reluctantly agreed calmly, took out the bedding that had been prepared earlier, and the three of them slept on the floor - they didn't dare to sleep on the bed in this inn.

The little fox was watching over there, as it had slept quite a bit today.

The sun set quickly and it became dark outside.

Tao Zi opened her eyes, and Yue Qingya beside her also sat up. Li Xiu was the one who slept the most soundly.

She patted Li Xiu, and he jumped in surprise and looked around.

Tao Zi made a gesture to keep quiet, and he nodded quickly.

Yue Qingya transmitted a message: "There is no sign of life in this inn. To be more precise, there are only four of us breathing."

Tao Zi narrowed her eyes and suddenly dropped the food on the table.

Bang!

This sound broke the original silence of the inn.

Yue Qingya listened carefully, shook his head slowly, and said directly: "No, nothing."

Tao Zi laughed and asked the two: "Jump out the window or go through the front door?"

Yue Qingya said: "They are so confident, it would be inappropriate not to go through the main gate."

Li Xiu smiled bitterly and said, "You two decide, I'll just follow."

The three of them swaggered out of the room.

It was dark and there was no one around.

Yue Qingya led the way, Tao Zi stayed behind, and Li Xiu walked between them holding the fox.

As I walked down the stairs, the creaking sound was particularly clear in the darkness, step by step, as if a mouse was stealing delicious food.

Li Xiu walked lightly, and the other two acted as if nothing had happened, everything was normal.

When I arrived at the lobby, the door was open. It was pitch black outside, with not even a glimmer of moonlight.

Li Xiu shuddered and said seriously, "Something is wrong. I just saw the moon outside the window from inside the room. It's very round and bright."

"Is the moon about to be full?"

Tao Zi's words gave him goosebumps.

Yue Qingya laughed: "It's been a long time since I encountered such an interesting thing."

She nodded, "Indeed."

Li Xiu looked at the two companions, wanting to cry but unable to: "Don't commit suicide, my force value is zero, I can't escape."

Tao Zi said, "How about I catch a corpse demon for you to study?"

His eyes lit up and he became interested: "Okay, if possible, I want the waiter who still has some sense."

For some reason, he subconsciously believed Tao Zi's statement and concluded that there was something wrong with the waiter as well.

Tao Zi said: "Of course."

Three people and a fox walked out of the door.

The streets outside were empty, with only occasional breezes blowing, raising clouds of dust.

Yue Qingya took them walking on the street without any hesitation.

"All the stalls there have been confiscated." Li Xiu pointed to where the vendors had gathered before.

They walked over and saw that the stalls on both sides were still there as in the evening, except that there were no people hawking their wares.

Tao Zi picked up a bun from the bun stall, looked it over, and said, "Guess if it's a vegetarian bun or a meat bun?"

"Meat buns, after all, they're small and only three cents each."
