Chapter 242: Meeting Old Friends in Spring City (2)

Chapter 242: Meeting Old Friends in Spring City (2)

Tao Zi walked to the teahouse. Perhaps because it was drizzling outside, the seats in the teahouse were full, so she could only stand by the side.

The storyteller was passionately talking about the latest news.

"Many towns near the Tiandao Sect have been hit by a series of incidents, all caused by demonic cultivators. This is a provocation to the Tiandao Sect and a disdain for us mortals!"

She looked at the guests who were listening with great interest and immediately locked onto two of them.

Tao Zi walked over and saw someone standing up to leave. She sat down and poured herself a pot of tea.

The woman in the cloak turned her head and said in a pleasant voice, "Girl, is this story interesting?"

She didn't look at her, but at the storyteller and said, "Well said."

The cloaked woman smiled and said, "I have an even better story. Do you want to hear it?"

"Can."

The two stood up and left without attracting anyone's attention.

The rain was getting heavier and the streets were deserted.

When they reached the corner, Tao Zi drew out the sharp blade in his hand and placed it across her neck.

She asked in confusion: "Girl, what are you doing?"

"Shaohua, I've told you many times not to use those disgusting poisonous insects on my people."

Shaohua smiled and took off her cloak, revealing a face with half spider-marks and half bloodshot.

The only thing visible on this face are those eyes.

She looked at Tao Zi and said with a smile: "Miss Yue, I have no intention of hurting him. I just want to use his body to pass on a message."

Tao Zi smiled coldly, not trusting Shao Hua much: "Where is the queen insect?"

She smiled helplessly, cut a wound on her hand, and a worm crawled out along with the blood.

Tao Zi picked up the insect and stabbed it to death.

Shao Hua said, "You know these bugs are my hard work, yet you are still so cruel."

She retracted the dagger, her expression changed quickly, and she smiled very gently: "There is no other way. Shao Hua Jushi's methods are really frightening. It is always right to be cautious."

She smiled as if she was being praised and said, "Miss Yue, your words are always so pleasing."

Tao Zi opened the newly bought oil-paper umbrella, but had no intention of sharing it with the people around her.

Shaohua didn't care. He put on his cloak and walked outside the umbrella.

"I haven't asked Miss Yue what she's called now?"

She said, "My last name is Tao, Tao Zi."

Shaohua smiled and nodded: "It turned out to be Miss Tao."

She turned to look at her and asked, "Where did Yu Niang go just now?"

She smiled: "I went to see your friend."

Tao Zi also smiled and said, "It just so happens that someone on my side has gone to look for them."

The two of them had ulterior motives and were smiling.

Shaohua took her out of the city and went to a small village outside the city. Although it was called a village, it had actually been abandoned for many years and only one family was lighting a fire.

They walked straight towards the family.

Shaohua pushed the door open and went in. Xiaolizi was sitting there. When he saw Tao Zi, he stood up in surprise. The accountant protected him behind him and said politely, "Miss Tao."

"Where's the little fox?"

Xiao Lizi looked towards a certain place with a nod.

Tao Zi followed his gaze and saw the little fox in a transparent jade bottle, sleeping with its eyes closed.

Her face darkened.

Shao Hua smiled and said, "Nine-tailed fox, this is a rare monster, and an even rarer medicinal herb."

Tao Zi thrust the dagger in her hand towards her, Shao Hua dodged backwards, and a Deadpool appeared in the dark to block her attack.

Shao Hua added, "It's just a small beast. Why make such a fuss? I promise to give you a share of the elixir I refine."

Tao Zi pointed the dagger at her, her voice so cold it almost froze: "It's my demon pet, you can't touch it."

"Ah... this is difficult." Shao Hua thought for a moment and suddenly laughed, his voice clear. "I've got it. You're Tao Zi now. I can kill you and send your body to the Ming Lan Sect. Who knows, I might even get a lot of benefits."

Xiao Lizi's expression changed, and he whispered, "Didn't my sister say you were a companion?"

Shaohua smiled and took off his cloak, saying, "Good boy, not everyone can be trusted."

The corpse demon's voice rang out: "Ahhh, Boss, she's so ugly! Just one look at her makes me want to vomit."

The accountant was so scared that he broke out in a cold sweat and wanted to cover their mouths in a hurry.

Shaohua laughed and said, "How cute."

The corpse demon asked doubtfully, "Are you talking about us?"

"Of course, beautiful is beautiful, ugly is ugly, just say something honest, how cute."

Tao Zi listened to their conversation and asked, "Xiao Lizi, how did you get in touch with her?"

He answered cautiously, "They have a connection with my sister, and when they are close, they can even pass on some messages."

Tao Zi said calmly, "I see."

She looked at Shaohua and asked directly, "What do you want from Yu Niang?"

She looked at the corpse demons and smiled, "Look at these children, how cute they are."

Tao Zi understood that the means that Yu Niang possessed were themselves a great temptation.

Shao Hua suddenly asked, "Why aren't you taking action yet? Are you waiting for your friends to arrive?"

Tao Zi looked at the silent Deadpool who was blocking her way and said, "Shaohua, you Deadpool can't beat me, why are you seeking death like this?"

She laughed and said nonchalantly, "Kill yourself."

Deadpool placed the sword across his neck and committed suicide on the spot.

She groaned and complained, "I forgot to let him die outside. He made my floor dirty."

Xiao Lizi and Shi Mo were frightened by the scene before them and dared not speak.

Shao Hua looked up at her, smiled and asked for a reward: "See, I'm so good to you. Once he dies, no outsider here will know your identity. In view of this matter, why don't you give me this fox as a gift."

Tao Zi's dagger was across her neck, and her voice was a little colder: "Shaohua, you shouldn't covet my demon pet."

She sighed and raised her hand to push her dagger away, but failed.

Murderous intent spread in Tao Zi's eyes.

Shao Hua acted helpless and said, "Okay, okay, I won't try to get rid of this fox."

Although she said this, there was no trace of regret in her eyes. If Tao Zi had not been so determined, she might have secretly refined the little fox.

Shaohua took out the little fox and handed it to her, saying, "Here, I'll give it back to you. I've been so good to you."

Tao Zi held the little fox in her arms and smiled: "I've been very good to you too - as an outsider who discovered my identity, you're still alive and well."

Shaohua laughed so hard that her body shook, and Tao Zi looked at her with a smile.

Xiao Lizi shuddered and took two steps back in regret.

The corpse demons all moved closer to him, and one of them said, "Why do I feel like these two are more demonic than we are?"

The accountant glared at him and whispered, "Don't talk nonsense."
