Chapter 33 Xu Jia

Chapter 33 Xu Jia

The lights at Yisan Gate were bright and people were everywhere.

When she stepped in, a stranger came up to her, took her into a room, and took off the talisman that was covering her ears. Tao Zi also followed her actions and took off the talisman.

The forty-year-old woman in front of him asked, "Miss, what brings you to Yisanmen?"

Tao Zi looked at her like a hostess, smiled gently, and said, "My name is Tao Zi, and I am Master's eldest disciple. May I ask who you are?"

The woman's expression changed. She looked her over several times before she said, "I don't think Master Wen's disciple needs the help of a mortal like me. I'll get busy now. Please do as you please."

She took out a new talisman from her bosom, put it on her ear, and walked out.

Tao Zi looked at the wasted talisman paper in her hand, then at the closed door. She couldn't help but sigh and found a clean place to sleep.

The next morning, she looked out through the window and saw Xi Jing walking outside the door. There was no talisman paper on her ear. It seemed that the oriole's chirping should have stopped, so she pushed the door open and walked out.

When Xi Jing saw her, her face was filled with surprise. She rushed over and said, "Senior Sister, you're here! You scared us to death!"

Tao Zi held her shoulders and asked gently, "What happened?"

"When I saw Third Senior Brother yesterday, he said you were with him. But today, Sister Li came up the mountain and said that Senior Sister came back by herself last night. We didn't see you, so we thought something happened to you. Master was so anxious that he went down the mountain to look for you."

Hearing this, she was stunned. It seemed that no one had worried about her like this for a long time.

Xi Jing looked around her again and said, "Big Sister, since you have nothing to do, I will go talk to Master."

Just as she was about to answer, a familiar voice rang out: "Xi Jing, there seem to be some problems here. Come over and take a look."

She turned around and saw that it was the woman from yesterday.

The woman saw her, raised her eyebrows, and said, "It turns out to be Miss Tao."

Xi Jing was stunned: "Aunt Xu has met the senior sister?"

She nodded: "I saw him last night."

"Then why didn't you tell us?"

Aunt Xu asked in confusion: "You didn't ask me. Besides, what do you want to see her for?"

Xi Jing wanted to say more, but Tao Zi grabbed her elbow. She looked back in confusion. Tao Zi said, "Xi Jing, why don't you introduce me?"

She woke up as if from a dream and hurriedly introduced, "Big Sister, this is Aunt Xu, her name is Xu Jia. She and Master have known each other for more than 20 years and she comes to the sect to help from time to time. Aunt Xu, this is our Big Sister, Tao Zi."

Aunt Xu smiled and said, "I met Miss Tao yesterday."

She was now graceful and amiable, completely devoid of the sarcasm of yesterday, so Tao Zi responded even more gently.

Tsk, how could such a thing happen in such a small sect.

She smiled and complained in her heart.

Xi Jing said at this time: "Big Sister, I'm going down the mountain to find Master now. Is it okay for you to stay here alone?"

Tao Zi responded: "Of course."

"That's good." She breathed a sigh of relief and took out several pieces of talisman paper. "Big Sister, if Yingting comes again, use this."

She smiled and nodded: "Okay, don't worry, I know."

After Xi Jing left, the smile on Xu Jia's face faded, but Tao Zi remained the same.

She brushed off the nonexistent dust from her sleeves and said, "Miss Tao, do you know how busy we were last night? As a senior disciple of the Yisan Sect, you hid away to rest, and even made Sect Master Wen worry. This is not good."

Tao Zi readily replied, "I'm sorry, I didn't know Yingti was gone last night, and I don't know what she was doing last night, otherwise I would definitely come out to help."

Sister Li appeared out of nowhere and said, "Xiao A Zi, what are you talking about? Yingchi was still there last night."

"Ah, is that so?"

Seeing Tao Zi using her gorgeous looks to make an innocent and ignorant expression, Xu Jia felt uncomfortable, but Widow Li thought it was very beautiful. She reached out and kneaded her face, making Tao Zi's face stiff and questioning her life. Isn't this an action only done to children?

She quickly reached out and held her hand, took a step back, and said, "Sister Li, is there anything else you need help with?"

Xu Jia answered before Widow Li could, "Of course not, Miss Tao, you should be more careful next time, otherwise you will bring shame to Master Wen."

Tao Zi was getting impatient and didn't bother to argue with her, but she still replied as gently as possible: "It's my fault for being too shy. Otherwise, I should have asked you directly for the talisman paper last night."

Widow Li immediately understood what was going on. Smiling, she went over and took Xu Jia's hand, saying affectionately, "Sister Xu, what's wrong with you? Old Man Wen gave you so many talisman papers just so you could share them with everyone you met. What's going on? Little A Zi isn't a human being?"

Hearing this pretentious voice, even Tao Zi beside her got goose bumps, not to mention Xu Jia, who was facing the voice directly. She said with a stiff face, "Little Sister Li, I was thinking that Miss Tao is a cultivator and might not need this talisman paper, right?"

"Oh my, so you mean Xi Jing and the others are not immortal cultivators anymore?"

Xu Jia got anxious and said, "That's not what I meant. Don't talk nonsense."

Widow Li laughed and said, "Okay, Sister Xu, I know you didn't mean to leave little A Zi in the room, or to withhold the talisman paper, or to hide the fact that little A Zi had returned."

Xu Jia was so angry that her face turned red. Widow Li was happy in her heart. She let go of her hand and took Tao Zi's arm instead, saying with a smile: "Come on, Xiao A Zi, let's go over there and take a look."

She naturally agreed: "Okay."

After Xu Jia disappeared behind her, Widow Li snorted and said, "Little Ah Zi, don't be polite when you see Xu Jia in the future. People like him deserve to be punished."

She half-jokingly said, "That won't do. She has known Master for a long time. It would be bad if Master gets angry."

Widow Li shook her head and patted her head. "You're too foolish! With your master's protective nature, Xu Jia will never get away with it. It's also true that she's a woman in her forties and she's trying to embarrass a little girl like you. How shameless!"

Former great-grandmother Yue Qiran, now the little girl Tao Zi, smiled calmly and asked, "Why does she seem to dislike me?"

"Hey, why else? Jealousy. Twenty years ago, she begged Old Man Wen to accept her as his disciple, but he refused. But she never gave up and kept running up the mountain. Anyone could tell what she was thinking."
