Chapter 96: Action

Chapter 96: Action

When Tao Zi broke in, the doctor boy was already lying on the bed. When he heard the noise of the door being knocked, he was so scared that he jumped to the ground wrapped in the bed sheet.

Seeing that it was her, he was obviously relieved and said, "Senior Sister Tao, it's you, what's wrong?"

She glanced at his expression, retracted her kick at the door, and said gently, "I heard someone just came to deliver fruit?"

"Ah, this?" The doctor looked at her in confusion, not understanding why she was so overreacting. "Indeed, I have it. Someone from the steward's office sent it over. It's quite delicious."

"You ate it too?"

The doctor boy looked bewildered: "I ate it, Senior Sister Tao, what happened?"

"It's okay, go find your master."

Looking at the hurriedly leaving figure, the medical boy became even more confused. Did this mean that she should go find his master, or that he should go find his master?

Tao Zi returned to the morgue and found Xu still standing there.

He turned around and looked at her, smiling without surprise: "Miss Tao, you're back."

Tao Zi said this in a declarative tone: "The fruit carries the plague."

"Miss Tao is indeed a cultivator, she is really smart."

"Are you mocking me?"

Doctor Xu shrugged helplessly and said, "No. It's just that ordinary people would think it was poison. After all, cultivators don't get infected by the plague, right? Of course, you don't have to worry about my efforts being in vain. The plague I put in the fruit is mutated, and you can get it too."

When he said the latter part, there was a hint of arrogance in his tone.

Tao Zi looked at him and suddenly smiled: "Do you think I will tell you the prescription after I develop it?"

Doctor Xu frowned and said, "The plague you contract is different from ours, so naturally, the prescriptions are different. I've said before, all you need to do is confirm that the corpse is indeed connected to the demon. Then, use the mutated corpse to capture the demon behind it, and send the demon to the Nine Revolutions Gate to attract their attention."

She smiled even brighter: "After I catch the demon, I will kill him directly, so there is no need to bother with the Nine Turns Gate."

After understanding the meaning of her words, he choked for a moment and said anxiously: "Without my prescription, your junior brothers and sisters will die!"

"Those who make poisons don't necessarily know how to detoxify them. This also applies to the plague." Tao Zi smiled, then her face turned cold. "Doctor Xu, I used to think you were smart, but now it seems you're really stupid. Immortal cultivators, how can they be so easily threatened?"

"You cultivators, none of you are good people."

She said, "No matter how good a person is, they will turn against you if they meet someone as calculating as you."

Doctor Xu wanted to speak, but his throat suddenly hurt, and a small knife was inserted into his throat.

The woman opposite him had a cold expression, as if she had done nothing. He saw her mouth opening and closing, and a voice rang in his ear: "I can make the prescription myself. Demon, when I find him, I will kill him, and all the mortals here will die. As for you creating a plague targeting cultivators, I will inform the Jiuzhuan Sect. Guess what they will do?"

Doctor Xu kept shaking his head and opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.

The last words that remained in his ears were just one sentence, but they were enough to make him die with regrets: "Because of you, all your relatives and friends will have no peace for the rest of their lives, or even no life at all."

She looked at Dr. Xu falling to the ground with an expressionless face.

The voice of the good doctor Xiu sounded behind him: "Tao, Tao Xiu."

His voice trembled as Tao Zi said, "Find someone to monitor him. I want to see if his body will transform into something alien, or rather, into something demonic."

The good doctor wanted to say something, but she interrupted him: "Don't forget, your little apprentice is not even a cultivator. How long do you think he can last?"

He stopped talking.

Tao Zi rushed back to the room and saw that several people from the management hall had gathered outside, and the two sides were even in a standoff.

A familiar voice sounded: "What are you going to do?"

She looked over and realized that the two people she had met before were also there, and the one who was talking was the calm guard.

The leader on the other side said coldly: "This has nothing to do with you, go back immediately!"

She walked between them and said, "You're quite quick, worthy of being called the Nine-Turn Gate."

The red-eyed guard looked over in surprise: "Miss, it turns out to be you."

"Yes, what happened?"

He shook his head and said, "I don't know, but the good doctor asked us to come here immediately and guard it. Don't let anyone disturb the people in this room, especially those who are friends with Doctor Xu."

Tao Zi's expression relaxed and she nodded, "Thank you."

"It's okay. We're all dying, so we should do as much as we can."

She looked at the other group of guards and said, "Do you know everything?"

The leader remained silent.

"He's dead."

When he heard this, his heart skipped a beat and he immediately opened his mouth: "Who?!"

"Doctor Xu."

The leader's face turned pale and he said, "How is that possible? He clearly said he could hold on for a few more days."

As soon as he finished speaking, he looked at Tao Zi's expressionless face and understood.

"You killed him? Do you know that his understanding of the plague is better than those medical practitioners? Even if the sect sends people here, they still need his assistance!"

Tao Zi didn't bother to reply. She touched her dagger and suddenly had another idea in mind. She said calmly, "I can make a prescription, but there is a condition."

The leader's eyes lit up, and she said with a smile, "You must tell the Nine Transformations Sect the truth about these matters, especially about his scheme against the immortal cultivators and the creation of a targeted plague."

As she expected, his expression became even uglier than before.

Everyone knew that the seriousness of the matter did not lie in the plot against her, but in the plague. The Nine Revolutions Sect, no, all the immortal cultivators would not tolerate such a thing.

Doctor Xu is dead, who will be unlucky?

He said in a trembling voice: "Those people are all innocent."

"I know." Tao Zi looked at him with an unwavering smile, "But aren't my fellow apprentices, and that little medical boy, innocent too?"

An angry shout echoed from the doorway: "If that plague spreads, won't the medical practitioners here be innocent? We're all here to help you, and you're so daring!"

Everyone turned around and saw Chen Qianli standing at the door with anger on his face.

The leader murmured, "But you won't die if you come to help us. We should really thank Dr. Xu and others who helped us even though they knew they would die."

Hearing this, Chen Qianli thought of the hardships he had experienced during this period and those medical practitioners who had collapsed from exhaustion, and became completely disheartened.

The anger on his face faded, replaced by a hint of fatigue. "Just because we won't die, does that mean all our efforts deserve to be ignored? Do we deserve to be schemed against? I don't think you want to live, you just want to find more burial objects."
