Chapter 149 Can I Marry You?

Hasegawa Teru nodded vigorously, his eyes already brimming with tears, which he wiped away with his hand.

When he looked at Willy again, he had a big smile on his face.

"elder brother."

He called out "Villy" again, bit his lower lip, suddenly closed his eyes, and as if gathering a great deal of courage, finally spoke:

"Can I marry you when I grow up?"

He thought his voice was quiet, but it was actually deafening, silencing the surrounding voices and leaving only the echoing lingering sound.

"..."

Masashi Yukimura gripped the hilt of his sword, while Kanade Kii, disregarding his upbringing and manners, walked over with a dark expression.

"Kid, what are you talking about?"

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!"

Hasegawa Teru's mother quickly grabbed the boy and pulled him away, but her eyes involuntarily swept over Willy.

My son's taste... how could he have fallen for someone so good so early in his life?!

If the enemy weren't so powerful, she would have liked to offer her support too...

She glanced again at Kii Kanade and Yukimura Masashi not far away, hurriedly shaking her head to clear her mind, but her son, undeterred, was still shouting, his ears red:

"Brother, you must wait for me!"

"I--"

Before he could finish speaking, his mother covered his mouth and he was reluctantly taken away.

"..."

The three remained silent for a while. Kii Kanade looked at Vili, a hint of amusement in the boy's eyes.

He forcefully changed the subject: "Villie, you must be tired after staying up all night."

"Why don't we go back first?"

Just as Masashi Yukimura was about to speak, he was interrupted.

“Xuecun should also be responsible for the follow-up of the mission.” He glanced at the sighing village chief, “and things like mission reports… let him write them all.”

"Besides, didn't I say at the village entrance that I have a supernatural ability related to spatial teleportation, and I can return to Tokyo in less than a few minutes?"

"As for Yukimura, let him go back on his own. This isn't his first time doing a mission; he's very familiar with the process."

He had almost completely ruled out all other possibilities, and even Willy seemed unable to find a reason to refuse.

However, the boy still shook his head.

"I want to stay a little longer."

"Then I'll wait for you."

Kii Kanade spoke in a lighthearted tone.

"We'll see," Willie said noncommittally. "Right now, I want to take a walk by myself."

He took two steps forward, then suddenly turned around as if he had expected it, looking at the two people who were about to follow, and emphasized his words:

"--'one person'."

Kii Kanade and Yukimura Masashi stopped in their tracks at the same time, exchanged a cold glance, and then looked away simultaneously.

When they looked up again, the boy had already disappeared from sight.

-

After asking the villagers, Vili went up the mountain alone, climbed over the overgrown weeds, and came to a cemetery.

The lush green leaves swayed in the sunlight, casting long shadows on the neatly arranged tombstones, making the scene appear somewhat desolate.

Not all the tombstones were clean; many were crooked and covered in moss, looking like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time.

The one in front of Willy was covered in dust, and even his name and photo were illegible.

The offerings placed in front of the tombstone were also weathered and corroded. Strangely, they were not the usual fruits and incense, but rather snacks and toys that children like.

Willie bent down, picked up a dusty bag of cookies, and discovered that the expiration date had passed several years ago.

He gently put the items back, then looked up and pointed his fingertip at the top of the tombstone.

The magic took effect, and the old marks on the tombstone gradually faded, as if washed clean by water, revealing the name of the person on it.

——Yuta Yoshida.

The little teddy bear, which had weathered the wind and rain, was placed in front of the tombstone. Its matted fur had been combed and it looked brand new, as if it had just been taken off the supermarket shelf. The loose bow on its neck had been tied back, gleaming bright red.

Suddenly, a small mound appeared on the dry ground, and clusters of pure white lilies emerged, swaying gently in the wind, even attracting a few butterflies to perch on it.

Vili stepped back, observed everything for a moment, and then spoke loudly:

"Come out."

Silently, a transparent figure stood behind him, but Vili was not surprised at all.

Ryohei Matsuo... shouted before he was taken away:

"I saw it, you all—"

Although he couldn't say it aloud because of the contract, Vili could guess his unspoken meaning.

—I saw it; you took the ghost away.

I thought he was already devastated and heartbroken at that time, but I didn't expect him to notice this matter.

However, in reality, it's more accurate to say that the other party followed them rather than saying that they took "Yoshida Yuta" away.

She still only followed him.

Willie didn't turn to look at him, but instead gazed silently at the photograph on the tombstone, the face identical to the ghost behind him, and asked softly:

Why did you leave the school building?

From what Yoshida Yuta said earlier, it's clear that he wasn't confined to the old school building, but rather chose to stay there voluntarily and never thought about leaving.

"Didn't I say I wanted to make a contract with you?"

The boy's voice echoed distantly in the vast wilderness, as if he had anticipated Willy's rejection, and he continued speaking without stopping:

"In the school building, I didn't really understand what you were saying until the very end. I only knew that it seemed like the teacher had done something wrong, and that Ahui would never come to play with me again."
