Chapter 158 Moonless Night

As the words fell, a figure slowly emerged from the shadows.

He was dressed all in black, almost blending into the night. When Vili called him out, he remained calm and composed, his hands casually in his pockets, his long legs moving with unhurried steps, his heart beating steadily in his broad chest, and his breathing never faltering for a moment.

There was absolutely no indication that he had been secretly observing everything on the rooftop; he was remarkably open about it.

He smiled when he met Willy's gaze.

"As expected of the baby, she found me so quickly."

He took off his hat, revealing bright orange hair that was slightly messy.

Upon receiving a message from his subordinates that Asami Haruki was acting suspiciously, he secretly followed him. He originally thought he could find clues about the man as a "spy," but he unexpectedly encountered a pleasant surprise.

As for whether Vili was also a spy?

How could that be?

Seeing that the boy did not reply, Juhuang took two more steps forward, her eyes shining brightly, as if a cluster of flames had been lit.

"Baby, it's so late, let me take you home."

As he spoke, he looked up at the moon, which was obscured by clouds, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.

"The weather is bad today, let's get some rest as soon as possible."

Sometime later, when he looked over again, Willy had already stepped onto the protrusion under the roof railing, his entire upper body leaning out, looking down at something.

Seeing the wind lift the boy's clothes, outlining his slender figure, Ju Huang's expression finally changed.

He opened his mouth to call Willy's name, but dared not speak loudly, unable to hide his anxiety.

"Unanswered!"

Vili seemed to have finally come to his senses, his voice soft and seemingly without any clear direction.

“Look.”

He pointed downwards.

Juhuang took three steps at a time and walked to his side, looking in the direction he pointed.

The already dim moonlight vanished without a trace, its light swallowed up by darkness. Suddenly, a flowing gas appeared on the once flat ground, densely packed and swarming towards it.

An unknown language broke the silence of the night, murmuring incoherent sentences, accompanied by faint laughter, which vanished in an instant.

"It seems it's too late."

Juhuang moved closer to Vili, and as they spoke, their arms brushed against each other unintentionally, leaving Juhuang with his warmth and scent.

At this point, he was no longer in such a hurry, and his tense muscles relaxed.

What are those things?

Vili observed the dark, writhing monster on the ground with great interest, feeling an urge to throw a few pebbles down on it.

It is both eerie and not eerie... It cannot form a complete body, but it can merge and twist with other monsters, and its body is filled with a terrifying and cold power.

“We, the Yumi school, call this thing ‘evil spirit’.”

The Orange Phoenix extended its palm, and one of the clumps, as if drawn by an attraction, was instantly in its hand. However, when it tried to burrow into his skin, it was held firmly in place, as if encountering an impenetrable wall.

"This thing is an unformed monster, usually formed from malicious rumors and fragments. It has no self-awareness, but instinctively approaches humans."

"They are weak. Even if they get into a person's body, at most they can only make the person sick or cause them bad luck."

"And we, the Yumi-shi, happen to be their favorite food."

"Evil spirits usually appear on moonless nights... but I've never seen so many before."

With a little effort, the small wisp of evil spirit was crushed by the Orange Phoenix and disappeared.

Then, his gaze fell downwards again.

"Evil spirits can accumulate and gather, and their power will be enhanced as a result."

"This is terrible."

"Looks like today is going to be dangerous."

As he said this, his smile grew even more unrestrained and exuberant. He even reached out and covered the back of Vili's hand, which was resting on the railing, and then gripped it tightly.

"If all else fails, why not—die together with me?"

Before Vili could answer, he heard a familiar scream and the swishing sound of Shan Ying's pen.

"Let go!"

"Let go of my hand!"

The system roared in impotence and rage.

"This is good material..."

"Write it down, write it down..."

Yama-zakura nodded repeatedly.

"..."

Despite Vili breaking free from her grasp, Juhuang lowered her eyes and gazed intently at the boy's profile, which seemed to glow even in the dim night, as smooth and lustrous as jade.

"Orange Phoenix."

With her perfectly shaped lips opening and closing, she called out his name. Ju Huang subconsciously agreed, but regretted it the next second.

The baby should be encouraged to shout a few more times.

Unaware of his thoughts, Vili turned around, leaned against the railing, and lowered his head slightly, but his expression remained unreadable.

Then, he took out his phone, operated it for a while, and then tossed it to Ju Huang in the next second.

The latter reacted quickly and caught it, subconsciously looking at the lit screen, the smile still on his lips, but he froze after seeing the content.

[Gott ist tot: Isn't your purpose in approaching me obvious? If you're trying to curry favor with me?]

[Gott ist tot: Then go die.]

"..."

Vili took the phone back, but the content he had seen still lingered in Ju Huang's mind. He almost froze, clenching his fist in the air, unable to feel his own heartbeat.

After a long while, he finally moved his cold body and forced a smile:

"What is this...?"

"It's your chat history with 'me'."

boom--

With her mind a jumble of thoughts, Ju Huang could no longer deceive herself and could only lean against the railing beside her for support, feeling dizzy and disoriented.
