Chapter 172 Acting Cute

Despite his young age, Elijah already possessed the air of someone in a position of authority, his words concise yet unquestionable.

As he spoke, he reached out to take the wolf cub from the boy's hand, but the boy dodged him again.

"..."

“Vili Xiu…Thun”.

He remained expressionless and called out the full name of the person in front of him in a deep voice, but was interrupted by Deville before he could speak again.

“Young Master Elian, there’s no need to be too harsh. It’s only natural that Young Master Vili is curious about werewolves when he sees them for the first time.”

He stepped forward, separating the two who were refusing to yield an inch, and took out a handkerchief from his pocket, examining the wolf cub's condition through the fabric.

After a moment, his furrowed brows relaxed, and his expression became meaningful.

"...What a poor little fellow."

"With such severe injuries, there's no hope of recovery. Even if we carry him back to the castle, he'll probably just be a cold corpse."

"I've heard that the tradition of werewolves is to live in harmony with nature and willingly become nourishment for other creatures in the wilderness."

"The Thun family has always been known for its kindness and generosity... Even if this is a werewolf who is our enemy, he deserves a dignified end."

"Young Master Vili, what are your thoughts?"

If it were a real child here, he would probably have already been coaxed away by this experienced old butler, but Willy shook his head.

Elijah's expression grew even colder.

It seems I'll have to add some history lessons about vampires and werewolves to my younger brother's curriculum when we get back.

His gaze was fixed on that mass of silvery white, and a thousand different ways of execution flashed through his mind.

"Do you still insist on taking it back?"

Deville seemed worried as well, but nodded tolerantly.

Then the two of them looked at Elijah standing to the side.

"..."

"No……"

"elder brother."

Vili handed the wolf cub wrapped in his cloak to the butler, and the next second he pounced into Elijah's arms, looked up at him, and blinked his cat-like eyes.

"..."

Elijah turned her head away from him, but the next second she felt something wet touch her cool cheek, and then they parted.

Elijah: !

He instinctively covered his face, but then a soft arm wrapped around his neck, and the boy's body was buried in his chest, bringing him some warmth.

"elder brother."

He spoke again in Elijah's ear, softening his voice and drawing out the last syllable.

Eleanor's three consecutive attempts at coquetry landed a critical hit, reducing her health to zero, dissipating her chill, and causing a smile to appear on her lips.

"Cough... okay."

He picked Vili up in his arms, their breaths mingling, inseparable.

Before dawn, the three returned to the castle.

Despite being yawning constantly due to his biological clock, Elijah forced Vili to take a shower to wash away the werewolf smell before carrying the drowsy Vili back to the bedroom.

He placed a goodnight kiss on his younger brother's forehead and closed the door.

"Young Master Elijah."

Deville walked over and glanced longingly at the closed door. Regarding Willy's matter, the old butler felt he was gradually losing his job.

He suppressed his frustration and asked in a low voice:

"What do you plan to do with that werewolf cub?"

In matters concerning Vili, besides His Highness the Prince, only Elijah has the authority to make decisions.

"...It's not dead yet?"

Elijah raised his eyebrows slightly, quite surprised.

In fact, even Deville found it somewhat unbelievable.

"In the forest, I was certain it wouldn't live for another half hour. But when I brought it back to the castle and placed it next to the warm fireplace, it slowly regained consciousness."

"I asked someone to find some food for it. As soon as I put it in front of its nose, it plunged into it and started tearing at it non-stop."

Despite being careful with his words, Deville's tone still unconsciously revealed a hint of contempt and disdain.

Elijah was much more direct than him.

He gave a cold laugh.

"As expected of a hybrid of beasts, its only commendable trait is its tenacious vitality."

“A creature that is not fully evolved like this…”

A strand of golden hair fell from his forehead, which he slowly brushed aside, making no attempt to conceal his arrogance.

"He should have died long ago."

Deville was already used to his attitude toward Willy that was so different from that toward outsiders, but he did not object to it.

Given Elijah's status, this is actually a commendable way of handling things in social situations.

After all, the fastest way to bring two vampires closer together is to get together and insult the werewolves and the Inquisition.

After Elijah had vented his emotions, he remembered the old butler's earlier question and thoughtfully spoke:

"Since it's not dead... let's just treat it like a dog and take good care of it."

Willie seemed to really like it...

Since that's the case, he disdained to do anything underhanded behind the scenes, lest he ruin the relationship he had been building with his brother over the past few days.

"yes."

Elijah was about to turn and leave when he suddenly stopped, seemingly lost in thought, and said:

"Until we find out the identity of that werewolf cub, we must not let Vili have any contact with it."

"You mean..."

“It’s really unusual for a werewolf to dare to come so close to a vampire, given its dog-like nose…” Elijah narrowed his eyes, a dangerous red light flashing in them. “And the wounds on its body look like they were done by one of their own people.”

Could this be a carefully planned trap?
