As if what he feared most had come to pass, as if he had overheard the system's internal monologue, Vili clapped his hands lightly.
“I feel I have accumulated enough gardening experience, and it’s time to transplant that Moon Shadow Orchid into the castle’s garden.”
The system struggled to offer a final word of advice, but before it could speak, it heard a rustling sound from the flower bushes not far away. Both the person and the system looked over at the same time.
Amidst the dense, clustered branches and leaves, a glimpse of silvery white peeks out, swaying gently in a tiny arc.
One after another.
It's like inviting someone over.
Willy did not disappoint it. He quickly stepped forward, parted the flower bushes to the left and right, and raised an eyebrow at the scene before him.
The young boy squatted there, his whole body turned to the side towards Vili, holding a dead gray rabbit in his arms. His slightly exposed cheeks and the corners of his mouth were covered with small pieces of blood and flesh, staining his collar messily.
Willy's gaze followed the tip of his tail upwards, landing on his frozen body, and finally settling on the boy's ears above his messy white hair.
At this moment, the fluffy, pointed creature tilted slightly backward due to Willy's arrival, trembling gently in the wind.
Finally, the boy reacted, quickly stood up, and then tightly clutched the rabbit carcass in his arms. His icy blue pupils narrowed into slits as he stared intently at Willy.
A threatening growl came from his chest. He opened his blood-stained mouth, revealing sharp, pointed teeth. His tail stopped wagging and hung taut on the ground.
"..."
Vili squinted, faced him for a few seconds, then suddenly chuckled, and took a step forward, looking directly into his eyes.
The fierce momentum faltered, and the boy subconsciously took a step back, looking around for an escape route, only to find himself trapped in the thicket, unable to fly away.
"how?"
Vili crossed his arms and looked at him.
"Have you forgotten how to be a dog after just a few days?"
Upon hearing the familiar words, the boy stopped everything, his ears perked up and tilted slightly forward, a hint of confusion flashed in his eyes, and his nose twitched.
He stared at Vili, his fluffy tail tentatively swaying again. He slowly lowered his body, his form gradually shrinking until, in the white light, he transformed back into the wolf cub he had been that day, only to be buried under the clothes, struggling to find a way out.
"...Huh?"
"..."
Stupid dog.
The anger that had been provoked in Vili's heart suddenly dissipated, and he felt that he had been incredibly childish to have argued with it.
He glanced down at the somewhat familiar clothes, squatted down, grabbed the wolf cub by the scruff of its neck, and pulled it out to examine it closely.
It seemed to have had a good time in the castle these past few days. Its wounds had healed completely, and the scars were hidden under its thick fur. It had even grown some flesh on its body, and it radiated a constant heat under its paws, which was even a bit hot to a vampire.
Under his gaze, the wolf cub curled up stiffly, its eyes remaining motionless.
Finally, the moment came when it was put down. It quickly picked up the gray rabbit that had fallen on the snow and jumped to the side.
After a while of stalemate, it finally let go when Willy made no further moves, lowering its head to slowly gnaw on the bone, its teeth making a chillingly crisp crunching sound as they touched the bone.
Willy squatted on the ground, hugged his knees and looked for a while, and finally couldn't resist putting his hand on that nice-feeling head and giving it a good pat.
The wolf cub seemed to have lowered its guard, only twitching its ears uncomfortably before continuing to eat intently.
Don't the servants feed you?
After he finally finished eating, his belly bulging slightly, Vili finally voiced his doubts.
As he spoke, he reached out and scratched its chin.
The wolf cub seemed to be being touched like this for the first time. It froze for a moment, its pupils shrinking slightly, but then it subconsciously squinted its eyes in comfort and went limp.
It held its head high, but its body became more and more crooked, until finally it fell to the ground, covered in snow and turning its head in a daze.
"..."
"Pfft."
Vili's eyes curved into crescent moons, revealing an undisguised smile. A faint blush rose on his pale, delicate face, and the young wolf's gaze fell upon it, momentarily forgetting to stand up.
However, the next second, he suddenly twitched his ears, straightened his body, bared his teeth, and roared.
Elian appeared behind the man and the wolf, glancing indifferently at the cowardly wolf cub. The boy looked away, walked to Vili's side, and his eyes immediately softened.
"What's wrong? Why are you laughing so happily?"
"elder brother."
Vili called out to him, then bent down and picked up the small wolf cub. The sudden suspension made the cub quiet down, but its wolf eyes still stared warily at the smiling boy.
"Look, isn't it cute?"
Facing Elijah, Vili grabbed the wolf cub's paw and waved it at him.
Elijah's lips curled down, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. He didn't answer Vili's question, but instead changed the subject.
"Should we go back to our room?"
He bent down slightly, straightened Willy's collar, and ran his fingertips across Willy's slightly cool cheek, gently stroking it twice.
Vili, however, didn't follow his lead. Instead, he lifted the wolf cub in his arms and continued to ask:
"Brother, don't the servants feed my puppy? It runs off to the garden to catch and eat wild rabbits."
He pointed to the messy gray rabbit carcass on the ground.
Elijah sighed almost imperceptibly, straightened up, and met the wolf cub's gaze with a condescending arrogance.
