Chapter 18 Going Home

...So that's what you were planning.

Although he lost a son, having multiple talented daughters-in-law doesn't seem to make much difference.

Vili lowered the color in his eyes.

"...I believe in Mother."

After making excuses that it was too late and he had to go back, Vili finally broke free from the Queen's pretense and left the palace exhausted through a hidden teleportation array.

"Host," the system finally spoke after a moment's hesitation, "Are we just going to let her go like this?"

Vili rubbed his eyes, his voice slightly slurred.

"Of course it's not that simple. Let them fight like dogs now."

"What does the position of a prince's fiancé mean?"

He laughed.

"What I want is that position above all others."

-

It was nearly 1 a.m. when Vili was about to use all his magic to teleport back to his dormitory, but the system interrupted him.

"Host, judging from your current position..."

Its tone was strange.

"Russell's mansion is just ahead."

"Um?"

Vili stopped releasing his magic and looked ahead following the system's guidance. Sure enough, he saw an extremely grand manor, magnificent and splendid, no less impressive than the palace he had just seen.

I never expected that the destination of that teleportation magic circle would be set here; I wonder if it was intentional.

Willy's eyes gleamed with cunning, and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly; he had a new idea.

"Perfect timing, I'll go see what that idiot is like."

Ignoring the barriers erected in the house, Willy walked straight inside.

He was perhaps too reliant on magic, for he did not see a single person until he walked from the gate through the long garden path into the mansion.

Upon opening the door, all that met my eyes was darkness, with only the faint glow of the magical runes on the wall.

Willy snapped his fingers, and a small light appeared in his hand, instantly illuminating the entire hall.

He wasn't worried at all about attracting anyone's attention, and instead swaggered around.

A moment later, he sat down in the armchair by the window, looking quite disappointed.

"No, that won't work."

Although it looks luxurious, there isn't a single magical item here that he finds appealing.

Moreover, these people are so rude. The young master has returned, why is no one here to greet him?

Willie sat with his legs crossed, propping his head up with his hand, looking quite troubled.

"Il, where is the original owner's room?"

The system immediately acted as a GPS navigation system, but when they arrived at the door, Willie leaned against the door frame and showed no intention of going in.

"Host, what's wrong?"

Willy didn't even bother to raise his hand, gesturing with his chin.

"Look at this room, it's been so long since anyone cleaned it, there's more than one layer of dust."

The system then noticed and immediately became indignant:

"How could they do this! Cleaning in this world is so easy, you can just use magic!"

"The original owner's twin brothers also study in Aetheran. Do they live in the dormitory?"

Vili suddenly changed the subject.

The system hesitated, as if mindful of Willy's feelings, and only answered after a long pause.

"They...have always lived at home."

Upon hearing this, Vili turned around deftly.

"Host, are you going to cause them trouble?"

Vili shook his finger.

"Disharmony among children is often due to the lack of virtue in the parents."

"What I'm looking for, of course, is the culprit."

This time, he didn't need the system's guidance; he just needed to walk towards the most luxurious and central master bedroom in the house.

When Duke Russell opened his eyes, he saw his eldest son, whom he hadn't seen in a long time, standing quietly at the head of the bed, staring at him, and even playing with a dagger in his hand.

Vili said that since he had already redeemed it, he might as well use it.

He took a deep breath and tried to sit up, but he choked and coughed incessantly.

He was alone in the master bedroom. In fact, his second wife, the mother of the twins, had passed away from illness a few years ago, and he had not remarried since.

It's unclear whether she has other lovers.

etc……

Something suddenly flashed through Vili's mind, but was interrupted by the Duke.

"What...what are you doing!"

Vili saw through his bluster at a glance and didn't care at all.

"Father...have you forgotten me?"

His voice was ethereal, as if it came from afar.

Duke Russell frowned, staring intently at Willy's face, before finally confirming that he was a living person and regaining his fatherly authority.

"Willie Russell! What are you doing here instead of at school!?"

As he spoke, he glanced fearfully at the knife in Vili's hand.

"Put what you're holding away! Are you trying to murder your own father?!"

"Um……"

To his surprise, Vili didn't reply; instead, he actually started thinking about it.

"Am I the first in line to inherit the estate? Father, you didn't change your will, did you?"

"For example, leaving all his assets to his illegitimate child who is about my age..."

"I'm really worried."

As he spoke, the gleaming blade shot straight toward Duke Russell!

—Finally, it was inserted in front of his hand, just one centimeter away from the device by the bedside.

"Is Father going to call someone to take me away? I'm so sad."

Willy's face was barely visible in the darkness, his expression only discernible in the moonlight.

Duke Russell reflexively withdrew his hand quickly; in the quiet night, the sound of his heartbeat seemed to shatter his eardrums.

"you--"

Vili leaned down gently and pulled out the knife.

"Father, you should think twice before you speak."

Duke Russell swallowed back his question.

"You... what brings you back? Is the academy on holiday? You should have told me sooner and I would have sent someone to pick you up..."

Vili carefully observed his expression and was certain that he was genuinely surprised by his arrival.

He hadn't paid any attention to Vili's news, otherwise he would have at least asked a few questions about the fact that his family had produced an all-attribute mage.

I'm tired.

Willie didn't answer him, but instead plopped down on the cushioned chair by the bed, covered his face with his hand, and yawned.

"Then you should go back to your room and rest."

Duke Russell said impatiently.

"My room is too dirty."

Vili shrugged.

"How could that be? The servants clean the entire mansion every day."

Vili was too tired to talk to this empty-headed fool. He was so sleepy that he almost collapsed to the ground, barely managing to raise his hand.

Before Duke Russell could react, he felt as if his body was bound by some kind of rope in the void, and then a great force threw him headfirst out of the house!

Then, with a bang, the door slammed shut.

He wasn't even wearing slippers; he was standing barefoot in his pajamas in the hallway.

Vili's lazy voice came from inside the house.

"In that case, Father, go and see for yourself."
