Chapter 25 "Give me an explanation".

When I returned to the Atheran dormitory, it was unexpectedly quiet.

"Il?"

The moment Willy entered the room, the air, which had seemed stagnant, began to circulate again. An invisible hand appeared to help draw back the curtains and open the window, and even the broom lying in the corner started to sway.

He looked around, but couldn't find the little mouse.

They ran away?

Willie raised an eyebrow and tapped on the oil painting on the wall.

"Hey girl, have you seen where my little pet went?"

The pure white unicorn gently lowered its head and rubbed its cheek against Willy's fingers. It didn't speak, but Willy nodded knowingly.

Turns out they went out to play.

There was no packing or panic, and the patient's morning symptoms were normal, so they probably didn't run away.

Only then did he reconnect with the system.

Although he had signed a contract with it, Vili had no intention of revealing his entire life to the system; there was still a period of adjustment between them.

"Il, where have you gone?"

"Host, host!"

Unexpectedly, the system's voice carried a hint of guilt.

Did I really do something to betray me?

Vili remained unmoved, seemingly unaware of its unusual behavior.

“I’ve left Russell’s mansion and am now in my dorm.”

"Where are you?"

He repeated the question.

The system remained silent for a while, as if it had struggled with its decision before finally making up its mind.

"I'll be right back!"

Just as the system promised, in less than a minute, Willy saw a furry head push open his door, but...

This is a cat.

This cat is jet black, with a glossy, smooth appearance, clearly well-cared for. It has a round face, and its amber eyes sparkle with intelligence.

Most notably, he had a pink bow tied on the top of his head.

"..."

"Il?"

Willie tentatively called out, and the cat gave a human-like look and meowed.

Its call is very sweet and charming, and it's pleasing to the ear.

"So you're a girl?" Vili's expression was complicated. "I should have been nicer to you..."

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw the kitten, which had just breathed a sigh of relief and walked in to rub against his legs, suddenly freeze, and then try to back away as if it couldn't walk.

But Vili had already spotted the little bell hidden under his tail.

"...It's alright now."

Vili grabbed Il by the back of the neck and lifted it up, only placing it on his lap after he sat down.

His long, slender fingers deftly combed through the cat's fur. Il, who had been stiff, gradually softened and finally collapsed onto Vili, rubbing against him with the cat's fur.

"Where did you go?" Willie asked softly.

"Adrian's dormitory..."

"Il answered in a daze."

The next second, the cat's pupils widened, and Il turned his head as if frozen in time.

"Host!"

Willy's hands didn't stop moving, but his voice had returned to normal.

What are you doing there?

He didn't have any problem with Adrian, but based on his impression from the original work, he always felt that this guy probably wasn't very bright.

He was the only person who would give him such a valuable gem on their first meeting.

"Wait a minute." Vili tugged at the bow in Il's hair. "Did he tie this for you?"

The color is really ugly.

Vili disdainfully took it off, then thought for a moment and took out a pearl necklace from the system space, gently tying it around the black cat's neck.

A pearl necklace, as white as ivory, was adorned with an amber gemstone, perfectly matching the color of Il's eyes.

Willy admired his work and nodded in satisfaction.

"My familiar can't be so tasteless."

Il looked down at the necklace, his breathing slowing down involuntarily.

"Host, thank you..."

"Hmm." Vili casually stroked its fur, not forgetting the question from before.

Why go there?

At this point, the system became hesitant, but remembering its promise not to hide anything from its host, it stammered out its words.

"He owned a calico cat named Rebecca, who was a very beautiful lady..."

"..."

Vili looked at the system with astonishment, as if he were seeing it for the first time.

Perhaps the other party itself did not realize it, but in reality, its emotions have become increasingly rich, and now it has even formed connections with other creatures besides its host.

Vili recalled some basic magical knowledge: a normal familiar's intelligence should be around fourteen or fifteen years old, equivalent to a human teenager.

The system's current growth is like it's grown from its original five years old to...

He looked at Il, who was intently licking his paws, and paused for a moment.

Yes, he was still driven by biological instincts, probably around seven years old.

"So you've been spending the last two days with Miss Rebecca?"

Il nodded shyly and added:

“I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get back if I locked the door, and Adrian even said he would watch the door for me. He’s such a good person.”

"..."

"As expected of His Holiness the Holy Son from the original story, he is so kind and approachable. Rebekah also praised him to me..."

Vili stood up and put Il on the ground, interrupting its incessant chatter.

Il looked up at his host with a naive gaze, only to see the latter stride towards the wardrobe, then suddenly pull open the door and inspect inside.

"Host, are you worried that he might install some kind of surveillance device?"
