Chapter 85 The next morning...

Chapter 85 The next morning...

The next morning, Wang Kan woke up first and saw Fang Minzhou sleeping next to him. He was stunned for a moment, then smiled and stared at her.

I watched for a long time, my eyes aching from staring at it so intently.

Is it happiness? At this moment, clearly happy, yet feeling sad, or is it simply because she is too happy? Wang Kan amused herself again.

Unable to move his left hand, he awkwardly found a position and used his right hand to stroke Fang Minzhou's hair, then her cheek, his fingers dancing across her nose like playing the piano. He was very gentle, and it wasn't intentional to wake her. When Fang Minzhou actually woke up, he didn't feel much remorse and started nuzzling against her.

Fang Minzhou wasn't grumpy when she woke up. When she slept with Wang Kan before, he always acted like this if he woke up first, and she usually didn't mind. But tonight, probably because she only fell asleep in the early hours of the morning, she was still a little sleepy. She smiled, wrinkled her face, and tried to hide, saying, "I'll sleep a little longer..."

"Go to sleep..."

Fang Minzhou drifted off to sleep, but after a while, the physical pleasure from being touched and licked became clearer, forcing him to become more and more awake. He called out to Wang Kan, who responded with a "Hmm?"

His voice rose in a nasal tone, his breath landing directly on his sensitive areas. Fang Minzhou trembled slightly, reaching down to touch his head, both amused and exasperated, "...How am I supposed to sleep like this?"

The sound of water splashing filled the air. Wang Kan, unable to pronounce the words clearly, replied perfunctorily, "You just go to sleep..."

Fang Minzhou felt helpless and a little depressed. She suspected that he was going to be more aggressive with his lips, tongue and fingers because he didn't have a condom. Although she had helped him last night, and although he seemed to like this before, it was early in the morning... She vaguely heard some noises coming from the courtyard on the first floor.

I don't know what time it is, but my grandparents are probably already up.

She lowered her voice and touched Wang Kan, urging him to hurry up. He seemed unconcerned about being heard, breathing heavily, but thankfully he still had some sense and didn't take off his pants. After she finished, he lingered for a while through his clothes before getting up and going into the bathroom. Fang Minzhou lay on the bed, burying her face in the blankets that had somehow been rolled up into a ball.

When Wang Kan came out, she saw Fang Minzhou changing the sheets. She was taken aback, then raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Is it really that serious?"

They didn't actually do anything.

Fang Minzhou tried to speak in a calm tone: "Anyway, there are still new sheets."

"Doesn't that mean you have to change it every night?"

Fang Min paused, then glared at him.

Wang Kan chuckled, walked over and wrapped one arm around her from behind, swaying her gently. Then, remembering something, she bit Fang Minzhou's ear, "Actually, if you went to wash the sheets... wouldn't Grandpa and Grandma know?"

Fang Minzhou: "..."

She had to admit that Wang Kan was right. Her bed sheets were ones she had brought herself, and they were different from those in the other rooms.

She glanced at Wang Kan, who looked at her calmly. Fang Minzhou looked away. Oh well, it's already been changed, why should she put it back on? She could just wash it in a couple of days.

Wang Kan chuckled softly again, making Fang Minzhou almost furious with embarrassment.

Speaking of which, he'll be staying in Shuangxi for five or six days. Other people from his company are also coming today. They'll be heading back to Jiangcheng after the event, so these next few days...

Fang Minzhou gestured to Wang Kan with her eyes. Anyway, she was too embarrassed to go to the convenience store. The shopkeepers were all acquaintances, and Wang Kan was now "famous" in the village. Ordering takeout and having someone run the errand was not out of the question, but the distance was far. Fang Minzhou had encountered situations before where deliverymen couldn't find the address and had to ask for directions all the way.

Unexpectedly, Wang Kan said he wasn't in a hurry, he would check first, and it wouldn't matter if he didn't find it.

Fang Minzhou: "..."

She was highly skeptical.

"I was in a bit of a hurry at first, and now... well, I still am, but it won't make a difference if I stay a few more days."

Hearing him say that, Fang Minzhou couldn't help but feel a little sad. She cupped his face in her hands, but he blinked and drawled, "Or... do you really want to?"

He would go through fire and water to buy the things.

Fang Minzhou's face darkened, and he stretched out his face.

Wang Kan laughed heartily.

He teased her about it last night, saying he didn't prepare condoms because he didn't expect her to be so proactive.

Fang Minzhou herself hadn't expected this.

I couldn't help myself.

Wang Kan then seriously explained that he was telling the truth. His hand was not fully healed yet, and he was worried that it would affect his performance if he went on stage. It was better to take it one step at a time. That's how it was back in freshman year, when they awkwardly explored each other's bodies. He still misses those times.

After all, an orgasm doesn't necessarily have to go that far, especially for the woman.

Fang Minzhou held back for a moment, but couldn't help correcting Wang Kan's wording: "How is this immature?"

As they talked, it got more and more exaggerated.

Wang Kan smiled at Fang Minzhou, who was as pedantic as ever, "Well, there's nothing I can do about it. Although it's been a long time since we last did it, I still feel very familiar with you..." He swept his eyes over her without any politeness.

Fang Minzhou's face instantly burned, feeling as if she were naked in front of him. Wang Kan saw that her neck was completely red, and despite being scolded, he laughed even louder.

At the height of our love, we were inseparable, making love tirelessly every day.

It's etched in my memory, so I dream about it in the dead of night.

He felt ashamed when he fantasized about Fang Minzhou in high school. Later, when he was in a relationship, it became a hobby. After the breakup, when he thought about it again, he felt disgusted and pathetic, but more than that, he was in pain. So he started drinking, getting so drunk that he was unconscious and no longer had the strength to think about her.

Fang Minzhou, unable to bear it any longer, pushed him back to change his clothes. He deliberately pulled and tugged at her, but because of his arm, she didn't dare to use force. So she took the opportunity to press him down onto the sofa and kissed him for a while. "How dare you say that to me?"

Fang Minzhou was stubborn, but Wang Kan pulled her hand and touched himself, saying, "Then you can familiarize yourself with it some more."

After making a fuss for a while, when the two of them came downstairs, He Wenlun and his group had already arrived and finished breakfast. They looked at them with meaningful eyes.

At that time, He Wenlun and Lao Wei came to visit the patient in the hospital. Their visits were mainly to show concern and offer greetings, but they also knew what they needed to know.

Wang Kan was very generous, and Fang Minzhou could only pretend to be generous as well.

Wang Kan was quite busy setting up the market. Although Fang Minzhou couldn't offer much help, he went to check on things.

As a result, Joyce and Xiongxiong would ask her for details whenever they had free time. She would give a brief summary of the cause and effect, but they weren't as easily fooled as their elders. The more they knew, the more enthusiastic they became in their questioning: "High school deskmate, who liked whom first, who confessed first? Long-distance relationship in college, how did you get through it? Oh, and what about that concert before? Was Mr. Wang always like this? I feel like his personality has changed recently, hasn't it?"

When Fang Minzhou and Wang Kan were dating, they were in a long-distance relationship and weren't really gossiped about like this much. They didn't mean any harm, and Xiong Xiong was just a younger girl who had just graduated from university. Fang Minzhou didn't want to say much, but she didn't want to lie either. She was a little overwhelmed. Later, it was her boss, Wang Kan, who put pressure on them, and they stopped. But it was only on the surface. Fang Minzhou always felt that whenever she and Wang Kan got a little close, their eyes would stick to her like magnets.

He Wenlun and Lao Wei didn't say anything. Lao Wei was the one who did the work, but He Wenlun... Fang Minzhou felt that his eyes were also meaningful, as if he already knew some secret.

In the afternoon, Fang Minzhou stayed obediently at the guesthouse; she also had her own work to do.

Wang Kan and the others would be back very late. Before washing up, Fang Minzhou sent a message to Wang Kan, suggesting that he go back to his room to rest.

After drying her hair, she picked up her phone and saw that Wang Kan had replied: "You go to sleep first, leave the door open for me."

Fang Minzhou replied well.

Although she and Jin Ying now have a physical office and will be able to move there next week, their work can still be done online. One of the characteristics of online work is that you can work anytime, anywhere, and you have to control your own progress.

So Fang Minzhou simply continued working. When her door was gently knocked on, she checked the time and it was already past eleven.

As soon as the door was opened a crack, Wang Kan slipped inside.

He had taken a shower before coming over. The two kissed for a while, and then Fang Minzhou went to turn off the computer.

Wang Kan looked at the screen curiously. He had learned basic coding, and many of his college classmates had switched to the internet industry. At that time, he had also asked some people on behalf of Fang Minzhou.

He attentively massaged Fang Minzhou's forehead and around her eyes, but only with one hand, saying, "How come my girlfriend is so amazing?"

Fang Minzhou laughed as Wang Kan massaged her on one side. She preferred to banter with him rather than say sweet nothings. But as she laughed, she suddenly thought that Wang Kan must really like her. He had been out all day and still cared about whether she was tired.

For some reason, a sigh rose in her heart.

She grabbed Wang Kan's mischievous hand, and he looked down at her. She tilted her head up and kissed his chin.

Once in bed, Fang Minzhou originally intended to give Wang Kan a massage, but it ended up turning into other services.

Wang Kan didn't buy a condom today. Firstly, he was very busy, and secondly, he went to the convenience store, where they did sell condoms, but the selection was limited, and they didn't have his size or the brands they usually used.

He spoke of these things in a casual tone, but Fang Minzhou blushed as she listened, probably because of the hints in his words. She reluctantly replied that she understood, and seeing his mischievous smile, she asked him what he was laughing at. He wouldn't say, so Fang Minzhou stopped asking. She couldn't resist leaning closer and letting him hold her hand while she asked him a math question.

Because of work, the two haven't stayed up very late these past few nights. Every morning, Wang Kan would return to her own room.

Their public and legitimate relationship inexplicably turned into something resembling an affair, and Fang Minzhou had no idea where things went wrong.

On the evening the market closed, the village prepared performances, followed by an open-air movie.

There was a slight mishap with the props, so the village chief went on stage to sing a song. After he finished singing, he led the way in calling for Wang Kan to come on stage.

Fang Minzhou stood in the crowd, and if he had to say something, he was a little gloating. But when Wang Kan actually picked up the microphone amidst the cheers, Fang Minzhou couldn't laugh anymore.

He still sang "Mianmian," the song he couldn't sing for her on stage during his second year of high school.

She hadn't listened to this song in a long time; she didn't dare listen to it alone, nor had she heard it in public. She only realized later in life that very few people would actually share the other half of their headphones with you.

After Wang Kan's voice recovered in high school, he sang this song to her many times over and over again, each time deliberately emphasizing the word "mianmian" to make it very funny.

In youth, one is unaware of sorrow; those bittersweet lyrics are unimportant, and even tragic love songs can be sung with sweetness. Looking back, every word pierces the heart.

The stage and lights came on late, and Wang Kan sang very differently from before. It wasn't as frivolous, and she wasn't actually that sad; it was quite relaxed.

A gentle spring breeze swept across time and space and touched her face, bringing tears to Fang Minzhou's eyes.

After he finished singing, although the song was tender, the villagers were more surprised that Wang Kan could sing Cantonese songs. Someone in the audience asked him if he could sing "Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies". As soon as Wang Kan nodded, an uncle came up and wanted to sing a duet with him.

Fang Minzhou left silently amidst the rousing music and sat down under a banyan tree quite a distance away. It had been cloudy during the day, but the sky cleared at night, and looking up at the moon, she could still hear the singing drifting in along with the chirping of insects.

The music ended, and other rhythms began, presumably indicating that other performances were starting. After a while, Fang Minzhou heard footsteps, and Wang Kan sat down next to her.

What are you doing sitting here?

"Nothing."

"You were moved to tears?"

Fang Minzhou glanced at him sideways and said, "You did this on purpose, didn't you?"

"A little," Wang Kan said, "but I don't want to see you cry."

"I didn't cry."

Wang Kan didn't speak, but touched her face. It was indeed dry. He kissed her eyes, and when he reached her lips, Fang Minzhou flinched. "...Someone will be there."

The shadow of the banyan tree blended into the darkness of the night. Wang Kan whispered, "Nobody's here."

How did you know?

"I scouted it beforehand."

To speak carelessly.

Fang Minzhou pinched him, but not hard, and Wang Kan teased, "Hey, I was just talking, and you went straight to getting physical."

Fang Minzhou: "..."

Recalling Joyce and Xiongxiong's description of President Wang Kan, Fang Minzhou said, "If you continue like this, the people in your company will really think you have a split personality."

Wang Kan didn't care at all: "I only act like this in front of you. Come on, give me a kiss."

He insisted on coming closer, and Fang Minzhou had no choice but to look around. It was quiet, and it seemed that there was indeed no one there.

Joyce and Xiongxiong, who had just crouched down behind the flower bushes, stared at each other wide-eyed.

After a while, making sure they hadn't been discovered, the two tiptoed back to the audience. The performance had ended, and the movie was about to start.

Neither of them spoke standard Cantonese, so they couldn't continue singing and started laughing quietly.

Fang Minzhou said they broke up when they graduated from university, but didn't say why or who initiated it. When the discussion continued, Xiong Xiong was adamant that it was probably because the boss's wife was going abroad, and they might have argued or something, leading to the breakup. The boss regretted it, and after his wife returned to China, she secretly vowed to win him back. He probably deliberately took on the Shuangxi Town project.

They had been peeping from a distance and couldn't hear what they were saying, but seeing the two of them kissing and hugging was enough to leave them speechless.

"That's right, that's right, what a coincidence, we just happened to book the guesthouse at the landlady's house."

"Besides, didn't Mr. Wang often come here to fish before?"

"Tsk tsk tsk."

He Wenlun and Lao Wei overheard this, and Lao Wei asked He Wenlun, "Didn't you take on this project?"

He Wenlun smiled but remained silent. Hadn't Joyce forgotten that she was the one who actually booked this guesthouse?

Fang Minzhou sneezed, and Wang Kan asked her, "Are you cold?"

Fang Minzhou shook her head. "Let's go inside."

Wang Kan: "Sit a while longer."

Fang Minzhou: "We should go in now, otherwise they might find out we're missing."

Wang Kan: "We didn't elope."

Fang Minzhou: "..."

"How about... we just leave now?"

Where to?

"Anything is fine."

Fang Minzhou stood up, saw that Wang Kan was still sitting, and asked, "Aren't you leaving?"

"Where are you taking me?" Wang Kan asked.

"Let me show you around," Fang Minzhou said, extending a hand.

With their hands clasped together, Wang Kan stood up.

The round moon was obscured by clouds, and then the wind blew the clouds away.

Fang Minzhou led Wang Kan on a aimless stroll through the village, telling him about his childhood in Shuangxi.

One summer, she was taken swimming in a reservoir by her friends. She was young and didn't know any better, and her parents came looking for her. It was the only time she almost got beaten up, which made her not want to go to the reservoir for a while. "But that river used to be a place where you could swim. Now, maybe because there are more tourists or something, nobody swims there anymore."

During the winter, there was a period when the village was very lively during the Lunar New Year. There were many children and the market had a lot of delicious food. She ate very sweet peanut candy, but unfortunately, she only ate it once and could never find the same kind again.

There wasn't much to say, but since Wang Kan wanted to hear it, Fang Minzhou tried his best to recall.

Holding hands, they wandered aimlessly through the vast countryside, far from anyone else. After walking a little further, Fang Minzhou found her way back to the guesthouse. Continuing on, she spotted a wild plum tree on a hillside. She shook it, and a few small, yellow plums fell. She picked one up, took a bite—soft and sweet—and asked Wang Kan if he wanted some. Wang Kan declined, but Fang Minzhou still climbed up the tree, using the roots as footholds, and picked a few larger ones.

Wang Kan was taken aback, having never seen Fang Minzhou so "wild" before. He didn't know how to protect her, but thankfully she came down quickly.

"It's really sweet." Fang Minzhou held one of the pearls to Wang Kan's lips.

Wang Kan stared at her, opened his mouth and put the small plum into his mouth, his tongue sweeping across Fang Minzhou's fingers.

Fang Min felt a tickle in her heart, but casually withdrew her hand and observed Wang Kan's expression. "Isn't it sweet?"

Wang Kan smiled and nodded.

Author's Note: The story is almost finished, but unfortunately I'll be quite busy next week and unsure if I'll be able to update daily. I feel that late updates or taking a break would be quite draining for everyone's mood and time, so I'm thinking of taking a week off starting tomorrow. Sorry!
