Chapter 107 Thoughts During Pregnancy

Tamaki

Di Jinghan had a wonderful time. Li Yannian was busy with military affairs, so he had his trusted confidant take her sightseeing. They ate many local delicacies and saw the magnificent scenery of the border region.

Li Yannian would also take time to accompany her on outings, with the two walking in front and her maids and Li Yannian's confidants following behind.

On this day, the two arrived at the border. The eastern part of Xijing had beautiful desert scenery, especially at sunset, when the landscape was particularly magnificent.

Di Jinghan walked cheerfully ahead, with Li Yannian slightly behind. The vast desert was covered with smooth yellow sand, and as they walked, they left a trail of footprints.

Di Jinghan's footprints were very small. Li Yannian watched her cheerful figure as she walked away, feeling a warmth in his heart. Looking down at her adorable footprints, he lifted his foot and left his own footprints next to hers. The two footprints together looked exceptionally harmonious and interdependent.

The sun dipped below the western horizon, leaving only half its flushed face visible against the golden desert, a truly unique sight. It was like a young girl who had secretly drunk aged Shaoxing wine, her cheeks rosy and exceptionally beautiful.

Feeling the glow of the setting sun, Di Jinghan couldn't hide his excitement. He ran a few steps, turned back and waved to Li Yannian and his entourage: "Hurry up, the sun is about to set!"

Li Yannian hurriedly quickened his pace to catch up. The usually stern man was now all smiles, which stunned his attendants. Was the general possessed?

"Princess, slow down, be careful not to fall!" Li Yannian said with concern, raising his voice as he approached her.

The two of them looked as if they were drunk, their faces flushed crimson. Li Yannian watched Di Jinghan admiring the sunset with a smile in his eyes, but the girl suddenly grabbed his wrist and started running.

The evening breeze caressed the two of them, causing their long, black hair to flutter in the air like sand.

Di Jinghan laughed happily, let go of Li Yannian's hand, opened her arms and ran: "What a beautiful desert, what a beautiful sunset!"

"General Li, come up here quickly!"

Li Yannian gazed tenderly at her joyful figure as his heart pounded uncontrollably. He carefully raised his hand to his chest, feeling a flutter in his heart.

Whenever I'm with the Princess, I feel this surging feeling in my heart, like a clear spring flowing into my heart, making my limbs tingle and reaching my nerves. A voice deep in my mind makes me linger for her.

He fell in love with her, but he didn't know how she felt about him.

When Di Jinghan saw him clutching his chest blankly, looking all lovestruck, her heart fluttered. Could this silly boy be lovesick? And who was that woman?

"Hey, General Li, what are you standing there for?" Di Jinghan interrupted Li Yannian's thoughts.

He quickly followed her toward the horizon, casually watching the fiery red sunset cast its glow upon them. Their tall and petite figures looked remarkably harmonious, bathed in red light, like a perfect couple.

Time passed quickly, and Azi and Di Jingcheng had been staying in the tribe for quite some time. Cheng Er delivered several secret letters from Di Jingyuan, instructing them not only to send their greetings but also to express their hope that the two would return to the palace as soon as possible.

Azi was three months pregnant, and the pregnancy was stable, so it was time for them to set off. Di Jingcheng and Azi discussed it and decided to return to the capital in five days. Azi knew that it was already difficult for him to be away from the palace for so long, and that the court would suffer if he didn't return for a long time, so she immediately agreed.

Ever since Azi learned she had to leave, a deep sense of reluctance had welled up inside her, and no amount of coaxing from Di Jingcheng could dissuade her. She was very reluctant to leave everything here, especially her family; after this separation, she didn't know when she would see them again.

Even though Di Jingcheng repeatedly assured her that he would often come back with her or bring her family over, she was still preoccupied with her thoughts.

I don't know what Di Jingcheng has been busy with these past few days. Apart from coaxing her to eat and take her medicine during mealtimes, he hasn't been seen all day.

Azi felt even more upset. Even her brother Yimeng wouldn't come to play with her anymore, and her parents were too busy to keep up. She felt extremely wronged.

When Azi woke up from her afternoon nap, Qinghe helped her take a walk in the courtyard. Azi sighed softly, her face full of melancholy. "Qinghe," she asked, "what do you think they've been busy with lately?"

Qinghe rolled her eyes: "Um... Your Majesty, the Emperor and the others are probably busy with matters concerning their return to the capital."

Azi asked suspiciously, "Is there anything I need to prepare in advance?"

Qinghe racked her brains trying to figure out how to explain it: "Um... Your Majesty, perhaps the Emperor wants to take some things back from here."

Azi nodded: "I can't walk anymore, and I'm a little hungry. Go check on the kitchen."

Qinghe breathed a slight sigh of relief; thankfully, the Empress didn't press the issue further.

"Your Majesty, the hawthorn cakes that His Majesty made are still warm. This servant will go to the kitchen right away."

Upon hearing this, Azi felt slightly better; this man still cared about her.

Azi sat in the room, lost in thought for a while, then slowly got up and walked to the exquisite box in the corner. She opened the box, took out a mahogany box, and opened it. Inside, a belt lay quietly.

She had only finished making it a few days ago, while Di Jingcheng was away. He didn't return until after she had gone to bed, so she hadn't had a chance to give it to him. She had wanted to find him when he was there, but he wouldn't give her the opportunity.

She thought about how she had been neglected these past few days, and how she was pregnant with his child. What was wrong with him? Suddenly, she felt incredibly wronged, and tears streamed down her face. She clutched the box tightly in her hand, and her tears soaked her belt, spreading out.

After crying for a while, Azi angrily slammed the box shut, then threw it into the trunk and locked it: "Hmph, that damned Di Jingcheng, you'd better never come back!"

Azi felt increasingly wronged as she thought about it, and finally burst into tears, lying on the bed heartbroken. She kept thinking about whether Di Jingcheng would succumb to loneliness and fall for some girl in the village, pretending to be nice to her while secretly looking for someone else.

Did she mistreat him after she got pregnant? And she seems to have gained quite a bit of weight, is he disgusted with her? Or does he just not want to see this pregnant woman and has gone out to find some peace and quiet? He's completely fed up with her, after all, she's become increasingly spoiled.

Sometimes even she can't stand her temper, so Di Jingcheng probably couldn't stand it for a long time. He might be preparing to run back to the capital right now! He might already be on his way back with his men!

Ah Zi has such a vivid imagination; she was so frightened by her own words that she didn't know what to do and was heartbroken beyond words.

Qinghe brought in hawthorn cakes and tea, and was so frightened by her appearance that she didn't know what to do.

"Your Highness, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? I'll go find the old doctor right away!" Qinghe said as she ran out, as anxious as a headless fly.

Azi wasn't in the mood to pay attention to her. She glanced up at her, sniffed her red nose in distress, and buried herself in the blanket, ignoring her.
