Chapter 117 Reveals Clues

Di Jingcheng comforted the little girl in his arms, his eyes filled with sharpness and warning as he looked at Di Jingyuan.

Emperor Jingyuan smiled wryly and stepped forward to apologize: "Your Majesty's shoes and socks got wet from the water just now. I did not mean to offend you. Please forgive me, Your Majesty."

"If that's the case, Your Highness must not repeat this mistake."

"Thank you, Your Majesty. I will take my leave now." Di Jingyuan stood up and looked at the petite little girl in his brother's arms. Her back was to him, and he couldn't see her expression. Would she hate him because of today's offense?

He was filled with unease.

Di Jingcheng glared at him with displeasure. What are you looking at? Still looking! If it weren't for the fact that he genuinely cared for A Zi in his previous life, he would never have indulged him like this.

Emperor Jingyuan left with a long face, and Fu Zi dared not breathe, leading the palace servants to follow behind him.

Azi stepped out of Di Jingcheng's embrace and saw that he had returned to normal, which reassured her a lot. "I'm hungry~" she said coquettishly to divert his attention, because his gaze was still following the figure of Prince Yuan.

Di Jingcheng quickly snapped out of his daze and gently pinched her cheek: "Alright, alright, let's go back and grill fish for our darling!" After saying that, he hugged her and went into her palace.

Azi was in for a real treat today. Di Jingcheng was an excellent griller, having honed his skills in the military. Holding Azi in one arm, he used chopsticks to pick up a piece of fresh, succulent fish, blew on it to cool it down, and fed it to her. He watched her squint her eyes happily at the delicious fish, and he couldn't be more content.

After Azi had eaten her fill, she fed him instead. Eager to try, Azi grilled quite a few fish under Di Jingcheng's guidance. The two of them obviously couldn't eat that much, so the fish was distributed to the palace servants in the main hall.

After finishing the grilled fish, Azi lazily nestled in Di Jingcheng's arms and fell asleep. The man gently massaged her stomach, and she let out a soft, contented moan. The man couldn't help but kiss her lips and cheeks…

As night fell, at the Grand Secretary's residence

Mu Wanyu and Li Li had been married for half a month, but due to the emperor's decree, she could not leave the Grand Secretary's residence. Therefore, Li Li moved in with her family. When Grand Secretary Mu proposed, Li Li, who only had his beloved in his heart, agreed immediately. He was all alone and had received kindness and guidance from Grand Secretary Mu since childhood, so this was his way of repaying that kindness.

On the day of his wedding, Li Li was so excited that he couldn't sleep all night. The next day, he finally married the woman he loved. But when he lifted the bright red veil and saw the beautiful face of his beloved, he felt that all the years of waiting had been worth it.

Using her pregnancy and physical discomfort as excuses, Mu Wanyu had not shared a bed with Li Li since their marriage. However, she often begged Li Li to find a way to let her go to the Jokhang Temple to pray for her child. She went to offer incense every five days, and although Li Li wanted to accompany her, she refused.

She would stay overnight at the temple each time, saying it was to eat vegetarian food and chant Buddhist scriptures. Li felt sorry for her and wanted to go in her place, but she refused pitifully.

It was the day Mu Wanyu went out to pray for blessings again. Li Li planned to pick her up after court the next day, wanting to surprise her, so he didn't tell her. In the evening, after seeing off the disguised Mu Wanyu through the back gate, he reluctantly turned his gaze away and returned to his residence.

Mu Wanyu and Liu Xinqi met again. Liu Xinqi looked at Mu Wanyu's belly and fell into deep thought.

"Do you know that Emperor Jingcheng's empress is pregnant?" Liu Xinqi suddenly asked, looking at Mu Wanyu, who was leaning against the wall pretending to be asleep.

Mu Wanyu slowly opened her eyes, stroked her belly, and asked softly, "How old are you?"

"It seems like it's been almost four months."

“Mine is almost five months along, what a coincidence.” A calculating glint appeared in Mu Wanyu’s eyes as a wicked scheme formed in her mind.

Looking at her expression, Liu Xinqi felt increasingly unfamiliar with her; hatred could distort a person so much.

"What are you planning to do?" Liu Xinqi knew she had an idea.

"Didn't you already think of that? I'm really too inconvenient to move around, so I'll leave it to you." Mu Wanyu's lips curled up slightly as she gently stroked her belly.

Liu Xinqi sighed softly: "Yu'er, you and Li Li..."

"Nothing happened between him and me, so don't worry." This was what Mu Wanyu had promised Liu Xinqi during their intimate moments in bed.

Liu Xinqi felt inexplicably at ease, sat down beside her, lifted her chin, and gently kissed her: "How is the baby?"

Mu Wanyu didn't answer, but instead wrapped her arms around his neck, leading him to sink into the bed together.

Afterwards, Mu Wanyu, feeling dizzy, said sarcastically, "This child is really resilient. You were so heavy just now, and you're still unharmed."

Liu Xinqi: ...

"Yu'er, do you still remember the first time we met, when I scared you?" Liu Xinqi hugged her, reminiscing about the beautiful moment of their first meeting.

Mu Wanyu's head was spinning. With her eyes closed, she mumbled incoherently, "What did you say?"

Liu Xinqi leaned closer to listen and smiled indulgently: "It was when we first met that you saved me."

Mu Wanyu wearily pushed his face away: "I've never saved anyone."

Upon hearing this, Liu Xinqi froze instantly: "What did you say?"

Mu Wanyu remained unresponsive, fast asleep. Liu Xinqi stared into her sleepy eyes, his gaze filled with suspicion and madness. Could it be that the person who saved her wasn't the one before him? But the two looked exactly alike! Their identities and appearances couldn't be faked. He frantically touched her face; there was no disguise. What was going on?

Was she too traumatized and forgot? Or was she talking nonsense? Or did I mishear?

Liu Xinqi began to panic, staring at Mu Wanyu all night without sleeping, his doubts still unanswered.

The next morning, Liu Xinqi sat on the bed, watching Mu Wanyu dress with deep, unfathomable eyes, his mind filled with doubts. The moment Mu Wanyu turned around, he revealed a gentle look: "Yu'er, when we first met, you saved me, and I gave you a brocade box. Do you remember?"

Mu Wanyu was puzzled. He must have given it away, but she didn't know where the other soul had put it. She would just have to go back and look for it herself.

She nodded: "Of course I will. I haven't opened it yet what's inside. I'll go back and take a look today!"

Liu Xinqi sneered inwardly, knowing something was amiss. He reached out and brushed a stray hair behind her ear, a deep, unfathomable smile playing on his lips: "Alright, don't lose it. It contains something very important."

Mu Wanyu grasped his large hands with both of hers and gently shook them: "Don't worry. Li Li will be heading back to his residence soon after court. I'll go back first."

Liu Xinqi withdrew his hand: "Go ahead, be careful on the road."

Mu Wanyu opened the door and went out. A carriage was already waiting for her at the temple gate. She looked around to make sure no one was there, then turned around, closed the door tightly, and headed down the mountain.

Li Li came from the front yard and saw Mu Wanyu come out of the house in the back yard and head straight down the mountain, her figure furtive. What was going on?

Just as he was about to chase after him, he saw the door to the room open from the inside, and a familiar person came out. That person was none other than Emperor Bei Xiang, Liu Xinqi!

Li Li stared wide-eyed, then quickly dodged behind a tall pillar to calm herself down.

How did Yu'er get out of there?
