Chapter 121 The Cold Palace: Hanling Hall

No matter how angry she was, Di Jingcheng wouldn't let her run outside alone, and carefully followed her out.

Qinghe and Zheng San outside were completely bewildered. Had the two had a falling out? The emperor was following the empress like a child who had made a mistake, trying to take her hand but not daring to, and when he did, she shook him off.

Azi was incredibly annoyed. A group of palace servants were standing at the door, ready to serve her as she came out. She brushed Qinghe's hand away. Holding her belly with one hand, she walked outside, wanting to get some fresh air. The palace servants all bowed when they saw her.

She was annoyed by everyone she saw, and Di Jingcheng and his men followed cautiously behind her, not daring to breathe. After leaving the main hall, Azi wandered aimlessly along the palace path. After a while, she grew tired and leaned against the palace wall, panting heavily. Di Jingcheng quickly brought her some warm water: "Azi, drink some water first."

Ah Zi was still annoyed, but she didn't want to go against her body, so she took two sips from his hand.

Then, ignoring him, she continued walking forward. There didn't seem to be many places to go in the palace. The Imperial Garden was the best place to go, but thinking about the possibility of encountering that annoying Prince Nanling and the talkative Emperor Jingyuan, Azi didn't want to go and turned onto an unfamiliar palace path.

Di Jingcheng dared not stop her, nor did he dare leave her.

"Honey, I was wrong. Let's go back, okay?"

"My darling Zi, I won't restrict you anymore. Let's go back. Okay?"

No matter what Di Jingcheng said, Azi remained unmoved and continued walking; she was indeed very tired. The sun was blazing outside, and her forehead was already soaked with sweat. Di Jingcheng held an umbrella to shield her from the scorching sun, while he himself was exposed to the sun without any protection, and was also drenched in sweat.

As Azi walked, her calf cramped up. She leaned against the palace wall, her red face contorted in pain, and said, "I have a cramp!" She looked at the man with displeasure.

Qinghe and Zheng San quickly came over to put down chairs and held umbrellas for the two of them. Azi wouldn't let Di Jingcheng carry her and sat down on the chair, whereupon Di Jingcheng tenderly massaged her legs.

After recovering, Azi got up and continued walking. She just wanted to go on a rampage today, hoping the baby would be born soon!

Emperor Jingcheng wanted to carry her straight back to the palace, but the little girl was clearly still angry and was going to have a huge outburst today. There was nothing he could do but stay with her; it was what she deserved.

Azi stopped to rest again, and the man came up to her again to ask how she was doing. Azi snorted coldly: "Don't ask me about things you can't do in the future. I hate this!"

After saying that, she continued her outburst, seemingly to vent her frustration. She felt that appropriate discipline was a sign of love and care, but excessive control was simply a manifestation of controlling nature! She disliked it, very much so!

Di Jingcheng reflected on his actions. He realized she had been holding it in for too long, and today it finally erupted. He also recognized his mistake and vowed to correct it in the future.

He stepped forward and helped Azi up, saying, "Baby, I promise I'll change my ways and won't do it again. Please give me a chance."

Upon hearing this, Azi didn't shake off his hand again, letting him support her. After all, she was heavily pregnant and very tired! As long as he was willing to change, she would let it go for the time being.

When Di Jingcheng saw that A Zi was no longer pushing him away, he was overjoyed, like a fool. He carefully supported her and said, "Baby, shall we go back? You're exhausted, and your husband will worry about you."

Azi huffed arrogantly, "No, I want to keep walking." She hadn't completely vented her frustration yet.

"How about I hold the baby and the baby commands me?" Di Jingcheng said ingratiatingly.

Qinghe and Zheng San: ... (Is this the ultimate simp?)

Azi saw his flushed face; he was still basking in the sun, yet he didn't seem to care about himself. Feeling sorry for him, she reached out and pushed the umbrella towards him: "No need, just hold me."

When Di Jingcheng saw that she finally cared about him, a huge weight was lifted from his heart.

As they walked, the Cold Palace suddenly appeared before them. Looking at the dilapidated and desolate palace, and seeing that there were no more luxurious palaces around, it seemed to be the most remote part of the palace.

She stood before the gates of the Cold Palace, gazing intently at the three large characters on the plaque: Hanling Palace. She felt this palace gave her a very strange feeling; the tightly closed gates seemed to seal away the past.

Di Jingcheng had been observing her expression and saw confusion. He desperately wanted to take her away from here immediately; painful memories from his past life flooded his mind, and he felt a heartache so intense he could hardly breathe.

"Azi, let's go back. These are abandoned palaces, no one lives here." Di Jingcheng suppressed the pain in his heart and said in a forced, lighthearted manner.

He wanted to leave with her in his arms, but he pretended to be calm, not wanting to arouse her curiosity or suspicion.

Azi was led back by his actions, and looked back at the palace with deep eyes. Then she looked at the man beside her and said, "Acheng, I want to go in and take a look."

These words startled the man quite a bit; his hand holding her trembled imperceptibly, but he quickly regained control. Azi noticed his unease; he seemed nervous and anxious, and she could sense it herself.

She stopped and looked at the man seriously: "Why are you so nervous? Is it because...?"

Di Jingcheng's heart was in his throat. He recalled the nightmare A Zi had when she first entered the palace in this life. Would it agitate her if he went in today? Then... he dared not think any further.

He stared intently at Azi's small mouth as it opened and closed.

"Are you hiding another woman in here, which is why you won't let me in? Are you so nervous because you're afraid I'll find out?"

Upon hearing this, Di Jingcheng relaxed his throat slightly: "Of course not, it's just that this place is in a dilapidated state, infested with snakes, insects, and rats, so it's not convenient for you to go in right now."

"It's alright, just come in with me. Besides, there are so many palace servants with us!" She turned to look at Qinghe and the others not far away.

Di Jingcheng blinked his dry eyes, took the handkerchief he had brought for Azi, and gently wiped her sweat, gazing lovingly at her face. He hoped that their happiness would last forever, never changing!

Azi took a handkerchief and wiped his sweat, then pulled him towards the Hanling Palace. Zheng San quickly sent someone to open the door. A strong musty smell hit them; the front yard was overgrown with weeds and swarmed with bats; the palace buildings were extremely dilapidated. Even in the summer, under the clear blue sky, a chill ran through them.

Ah Zi huddled in the man's arms, smelling the strong stench, which made her nauseous. She quickly covered her mouth and nose. She had no intention of going any further and simply stood at the doorway, watching.

"Ugh, ugh..." Azi covered her mouth and dry-heaved twice, feeling dizzy as she looked at the scene before her.

"Baby, what's wrong? Are you alright?" Di Jingcheng hurriedly picked her up and carried her outside.

Azi stared blankly at the three large characters "Hanling Palace," her dizziness worsening until she slowly lost consciousness.
