Chapter 127 Escaping the Summer Heat, A Little Temper

Di Jingcheng dared not touch her again, his gaze lingering tenderly on her. His precious little darling, one tiny child, and another in her belly, the fruit of his own making, a life they nurtured together.

Although she was pregnant and had gained some weight, she was still only described as plump, with fair and tender skin all over. Furthermore, due to the hot weather, her flesh had a pinkish hue, making her appear both fair and rosy, and incredibly endearing.

The room was quiet. Qinghe brought in a tray of fruit—newly presented green grapes, large, plump, thin-skinned, juicy, and sweet. Emperor Jingcheng had them chilled for a while; he had consulted the imperial physician, who said a small amount wouldn't hurt.

Di Jingcheng called to her softly, "Baby, we have chilled fresh green grapes today. They're refreshing and perfect for cooling you down. Get up and have some."

The person on the couch was half asleep, seemingly hearing the man's gentle voice, but too tired to respond. Seeing she was truly exhausted, the man smiled indulgently, took a thin blanket made of ice silkworm silk, and covered her with it, ensuring she wouldn't be too hot or too cold.

"You may leave." Di Jingcheng picked up a white jade fan and lay down on the couch to fan the sleeping pregnant woman. Azi seemed to be having a sweet dream, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned, and she softly called Di Jingcheng's name.

She slept for two hours straight. It was getting late, and the night had grown quite cool. When Azi woke up, she tried to get up by supporting herself on the bed with her hands, but the thin silk quilt covering her slipped to one side.

Azi blinked, and her vision gradually cleared. In the dim light, she saw her beloved man reviewing memorials at a desk not far away.

When Di Jingcheng saw her wake up, she looked at him with a smile, her adorable little face was simply too beautiful. He went over and picked her up to sit on the soft couch, immediately ordering someone to bring warm water, and then her dinner was also brought in.

Azi nestled in his arms, contentedly enjoying this blissful moment. The man tenderly wiped her face and hands, kissing her hands and then her face. Azi chuckled softly, "Are you going to kiss my whole body?"

"My darling, have dinner first, then your husband will kiss you slowly, okay?"

Looking at his shameless expression, Azi pinched his handsome face with her little hand: "I'll let you kiss me. But first, feed your two darlings!"

"Yes, sir!" Di Jingcheng pretended to be serious, which made A Zi unable to suppress her laughter.

During the meal, Azi's mental state was noticeably better, probably because it was a bit cooler in the evening.

“Honey, how about I take you to Jinghe Garden to escape the summer heat tomorrow? The weather has suddenly gotten hot these past few days.” Di Jingcheng suggested, still wanting to get her opinion, since she was pregnant and running around wouldn’t be comfortable for her.

"Is it far?" Azi chewed her food, her eyes filled with undisguised excitement.

"There is another garden, Qingyuan, which is located inside the palace. It takes about half an hour to get there by sedan chair."

Azi wiggled her little bottom happily: "Yes, yes! We'll go tomorrow morning!"

"Then I'll have them move all their things over there. I guess the baby's birth can only happen there."

Upon hearing this, Azi picked up a meat bun from the table, took a bite, and said thoughtfully, "Imperial Physician, wouldn't it be too much trouble to have a midwife and other supplies?"

Di Jingcheng rubbed her little head: "Baby, don't worry about these things. I was just worried that you would get tired. But it's been so hot these past few days, and my Azi has been suffering."

No longer having any worries, Azi excitedly hugged the man's face and kissed him several times: "You're so good!"

Di Jingcheng felt helpless. Was that all? It seemed he hadn't done enough. He should have moved there a long time ago, and made her suffer for several days. He deserved to die!

The next day, early in the morning, Emperor Jingcheng went to court, and Azi instructed the palace servants to start packing the things to take with them. Several carriages full of things were already parked at the entrance of the main hall. Qinghe helped Azi stand at the entrance, happily watching the palace servants come and go.

"Your Highness, please be careful not to overwork yourself. Go inside and rest." Qinghe looked at her protruding belly, her face full of worry, as she hadn't stopped all morning.

Azi nodded, and Qinghe wiped her sweat, carefully helping her inside to sit and rest. She had barely taken a sip of warm water when Emperor Jingcheng returned from court. Azi was filled with excitement again; finally, they could set off!

When Di Jingcheng came in, he saw her excited little face: "Husband changed his clothes and set off with our baby!"

Azi nodded sweetly and eagerly pushed Di Jingcheng into the inner room. Finally setting off, Azi sat in the carriage, excitedly lifting the curtain to look around.

"Ah Cheng, why do we need a carriage? I heard from the palace maids that carriages are not allowed in the palace."

Di Jingcheng chuckled: "My darling, have you forgotten again? I am the emperor, and you are the empress. You are the one who calls the shots here."

Azi pouted, lowered the curtain, and snuggled into the man's arms: "There are only palace walls outside, nothing to see."

"How about Ah Zi, have some green grapes? They're chilled. My baby was asleep yesterday and didn't get to eat any. I tried them for you, and they're delicious!" Di Jingcheng brought over the chilled green grapes that had been sitting aside.

Ah Zi instantly perked up and was about to reach for it, but then she remembered something and pulled her hand back halfway.

Di Jingcheng patted her back tenderly: "It's alright, the imperial physician said you can eat it, just don't eat too much."

Upon hearing this, Azi couldn't wait to start eating. Chilled green grapes are very refreshing, and Di Jingcheng only chilled them for a short time, so the fruit was just a little cool and not too cold to eat.

Azi happily enjoyed the grapes, even stuffing a few into the man's mouth. Seeing that half the plate of grapes was gone, Di Jingcheng frowned slightly; they couldn't eat any more.

He removed the green grapes from Azi's face. Azi's dissatisfied gaze followed the grapes. She swallowed the grapes in her mouth and pleaded sweetly with Di Jingcheng, "Eat a few more, please~ Husband, Acheng~"

Di Jingcheng was aroused by her soft, sweet voice, but he couldn't give in; otherwise, he would be heartbroken if she wasn't feeling well. He firmly shook his head: "No, darling, have you forgotten that you got a stomachache after eating two oranges last month?"

Azi shook her head: "I haven't forgotten, I haven't forgotten, but this is different!" Azi was getting a little impatient. She had finally been able to eat some ice cream, and she hadn't had her fill yet! Her gaze passed over Di Jingcheng and stared longingly at the half-plate of green grapes in the corner. Thinking of their delicious taste, her mouth was watering.

"Ah Cheng, good Ah Cheng~ Husband!" She kissed the man's sexy thin lips, high nose bridge, handsome face, and eyes that were full of her, as well as his chin and... Adam's apple. She took the man's hand and kissed it again, but the man remained unmoved.

Azi shifted her little bottom in frustration, hugging her pregnant belly and sitting a little further away. She pouted aggrievedly, her big eyes brimming with tears, gazing out at the carriage curtains fluttering in the wind: "If you won't give me food, then you won't eat it! Humph!"

Azi felt increasingly wronged, as if everyone owed her something, and she was very sad!

Emperor Jingcheng glanced at the green grapes beside him, picked one up, lifted the curtain, and tossed it to Zheng He'er: "Eat them all up!"

Turning around and seeing Ah Zi's red eyes, he immediately turned his head back and snorted.

Emperor Jing accepted his fate and stuck it on.
