Winter is exceptionally cold, so Di Jinghan and Li Yannian's wedding is scheduled for next spring, which is not only auspicious but also convenient to organize.
The end of the year is just around the corner, and today Azi is busy preparing gifts to return to the noblewomen, as well as discussing various matters in the harem with the nanny. Although there isn't much to do, Azi is indeed exhausted.
Nalan Mingzhu helped her take care of the children, and Di Jingyuan and Di Jinghan continued to come over as always. Chu'er didn't need her to worry about anything. Di Jingcheng felt sorry for her and told her to leave those things to the old women, but Azi was so enthusiastic that once she started, she couldn't stop.
Emperor Jingcheng was also busy with matters of the previous dynasty, but not as busy as Azi.
Di Jingcheng couldn't persuade her no matter what he said, and Azi would still ignore him, so he could only resign himself to paying more attention to her food, clothing, and shelter. When Azi was checking the accounts with the nanny, he would stand beside her with hot tea and thoughtfully drape a cloak over her shoulders; when Azi was eating, he would order the kitchen to prepare a lot of nourishing dishes and make sure she ate them; when Azi was holding her son, he would be afraid that she would get tired, so he would quickly take the son from her and comfort her; when Azi was looking at the gift list a little late at night, he would quickly carry her to bed and force her to sleep...
Azi undoubtedly condoned Di Jingcheng's actions; after all, a man should have limits in everything he does for her sake. Even so, her small frame couldn't withstand it.
Having been pampered by Emperor Jingcheng for a long time, Azi had never done any strenuous work since childhood. Suddenly being so busy, she felt overwhelmed after only seven days.
That morning, Azi lay groggily in bed, trying to get up but feeling excruciating pain in her eyes, aches all over her body, weakness, and a burning sensation. Di Jingcheng, awakened by the warmth beside him, opened his eyes and quickly checked on Azi.
Her delicate eyebrows furrowed, her face flushed, her whole body burning hot, and her hands fidgeting nervously under the covers.
"Summon the imperial physician!"
Upon hearing the emperor's voice, the people outside immediately sprang into action. Qinghe brought in hot water and saw the emperor anxiously holding the empress on the bed. She quickly went to her side.
"Your Majesty, please wipe the Empress down with hot water."
Di Jingcheng nodded, carefully placing Azi on the bed. He took the warm handkerchief Qinghe handed him and wiped her face, then her palms and soles. Azi whimpered comfortably, but her eyelids were still too heavy to open.
The imperial physician finally arrived, and half an hour passed after taking her pulse and prescribing medicine. Emperor Jingcheng held Azi's small hand and sat on the bed, his heartache evident: "Qinghe, how did Her Majesty catch a cold?"
Qinghe thought back carefully: "Perhaps it was when the Emperor went to court yesterday morning that the Empress was talking to the nanny at the door and caught a chill. It's all my fault that the Empress developed a high fever." She felt very guilty. At the time, she saw that the Empress was wearing a cloak, so she didn't give her a hot water bottle.
Di Jingcheng sighed softly and waved his hand: "Go out, and always have food on hand. Also, let the old women handle the trivial matters in the harem. Don't trouble the Empress anymore."
"Yes, this servant will go right away."
After drinking the medicine, Azi's high fever gradually subsided, and she felt much better. As soon as she woke up, her throat felt like it was on fire. She drank three cups of warm water with Di Jingcheng's help before she felt much better. When she spoke, her voice was still very nasal: "Acheng, my neck hurts so much, and my body hurts so much too."
Di Jingcheng tenderly wrapped her in the blanket: "You can't let yourself do whatever you want anymore, you're suffering now."
"It's okay~, I'll stay here with you. Do you want me to rub your baby's body?"
Azi shook her head and leaned weakly against him: "I will definitely pay attention to the balance between work and rest in the future. Being sick is really unpleasant."
Di Jingcheng massaged her temples, trying to help her relax: "It's my fault for not watching you properly. It's all my fault. Baby, do whatever you want without worrying about these things. Just remember to take care of your health from now on, okay?"
Azi nodded obediently: "I understand!"
Illness comes like a landslide, but recovery is like pulling silk from a cocoon. Azi was well taken care of, and the New Year passed smoothly and in a lively manner. Chu'er was already six months old and had begun to babble. Her teeth were starting to come in, but not very noticeably. She seemed eager to speak but could only babble.
Springtime was the day of Di Jinghan and Li Yannian's wedding. The couple had been preparing for their wedding for nearly half a year, and it was an incredibly grand affair. After the wedding, Di Jinghan would move to the princess's residence outside the palace and could no longer travel back and forth between the two places as he had before the wedding.
The princess's residence was decorated in a festive and luxurious style, and all the servants in the residence were specially assigned from the palace to serve the princess and her husband.
On their wedding day, Li Yannian, dressed in a handsome red gown, rode a tall horse to the palace to fetch his bride. This was permitted by the emperor, and the scene was incredibly lively and grand. Azi and Nalan Mingzhu personally helped Di Jinghan change into a magnificent wedding robe, covered her head with a fiery red veil, and escorted her off to her wedding.
The thought of getting married made Di Jinghan feel sad. Before leaving, she hugged Azi and cried for a while, ruining her makeup. In the end, the palace maids and nannies pulled her to redo her makeup. Azi held her hand and, seeing that she was about to cry again, quickly teased her, "You can't cry anymore. Today is your wedding day with General Li. The bride should be happy!"
"Sister-in-law, it's just that I can't bear to part with you!"
"You're married now, that doesn't mean anything. You can still come to the palace often! Or, my sister-in-law can take Chu'er to the princess's residence. Stop crying, or you'll ruin your face and miss the auspicious time. General Li will come in and snatch her away!" As soon as A Zi said this, Di Jinghan shyly tugged at her sleeve and shook it. All the palace maids and nannies in the room smiled and said auspicious words.
