Chapter 56 The Siblings Who Kill Two Birds with One Stone

Upon hearing this, Di Jingcheng assumed that Azi had sustained new injuries, so he quickly carried her into the bedroom. He gently placed her on the bed, his face full of anxiety, and began to loosen her collar to examine her.

Azi blushed and raised her hand to stop him: "I'm fine, I'm not hurt, Jinghan misunderstood."

Azi pointed to the red marks on her neck, her face flushed, and she looked away shyly.

Di Jingcheng looked at the marks he had left behind; thankfully, he wasn't injured. He felt a great weight lifted from his shoulders and carefully straightened the little girl's clothes. He touched her rosy cheeks and said, "It's alright, I'll talk to her properly."

"What does your sweetheart think of Jinghan?"

"It's alright, she was indeed lively, but a little too much. And today was so embarrassing!" Azi pouted and complained. She couldn't lash out directly, but she still had her pride! Who acts like that so bluntly!

"If you find her annoying, I'll tell her not to come anymore. I'll also teach her a lesson for what happened today, so don't be sad!" Di Jingcheng comforted her, appearing gentle but not daring to say anything harsh in front of her, though inwardly he already loathed Di Jinghan.

Azi stayed in his arms for a while before the heat on her face gradually subsided.

"I'll have them bring lunch in, and we'll eat inside," Di Jingcheng said, showing great understanding.

Azi nodded: "And what about her?"

"I'll have someone set up a table outside, so don't worry."

"Alright." Azi wasn't worried about ignoring her, after all, she was the one who was cold to others, and besides, she had just made her feel so awkward.

Di Jinghan sat alone in the dining hall waiting. Zheng Sanlai told her to eat first, and that his elder brother and sister-in-law would arrive shortly.

But even after she had eaten her fill, she still hadn't seen her royal brother and her beautiful sister-in-law, and only then did she realize that she had been tricked.

Hmph! It can't be my sister-in-law, she's so gentle and understanding! It must be that cunning and cold-blooded imperial brother! (Angry face emoji)

Di Jinghan angrily shouted outside, "Someone come here!"

Zheng San immediately appeared: "Princess, your servant is here!"

Di Jinghan was even angrier when she realized that no one else was like Zheng He. They all disliked her so much, didn't they?

Where is your master?

"Your Highness, the Emperor and Empress have sent Master to serve you. Please just give me any instructions you may have," Zheng San said with a fawning smile.

"Fine, I'll be going now. Tell your brother and sister-in-law!" Di Jinghan stormed out, her maidservant following closely behind, draping a cloak over her shoulders and placing a prepared hand warmer in her hands.

Zheng San watched his little ancestor's departing figure and breathed a sigh of relief.

As soon as Di Jinghan returned to the princess's residence, she received an imperial decree from a palace eunuch. Her brother had punished her by cutting off half a year's salary, restricting her spending, and warning her not to speak carelessly in the future.

Di Jinghan looked up at the sky speechlessly. Damn it! Fine, she'd go ask her second brother for help.

Emperor Jingyuan had been living in the palace, partly because he was busy with state affairs, and partly because there was someone he wanted to see there. Emperor Jinghan quickly packed his bags and moved into the palace, partly so that his second brother could help him out, and partly so that he could see his beautiful sister-in-law more often!

The brother and sister were really on the same page; it was a win-win situation!

Alright, she'll let bygones be bygones with her brother for now.

Since Emperor Jinghan returned to the palace, the once quiet and desolate palace has become lively. Zheng He'er is keeping a low profile, afraid that this little rascal will come to amuse him again.

Fortunately, he spent this time with the emperor in the imperial study, so Di Jinghan wouldn't be so rash as to disturb Di Jingcheng's political affairs.

Thus, the ones who suffered became Zheng San and the palace servants.

Zheng San was in a terrible predicament being teased by the little princess. He had to serve the empress on one hand and comply with the princess on the other. He really missed his master!

After Azi and Jinghan first met, Jinghan often went to Qianyuan Palace to chat and play with Azi. On their second meeting, she dismissed the servants and apologized to her beautiful sister-in-law privately for her abruptness, feeling extremely worried that she would leave a bad impression on her.

Azi gladly accepted her apology. She knew that Di Jinghan had no ill intentions, and it was normal for an unmarried girl like her not to know.

The two girls became acquainted after a while. Seeing that Zheng San often teased her, causing him great distress, A Zi spoke well of Zheng San to Di Jinghan, and Di Jinghan toned it down considerably.

Zheng San was deeply grateful, saying that the Empress was the best person he had ever met!

After having breakfast that day, Emperor Jinghan left his palace (Changxi Palace) and walked briskly towards Qianyuan Palace, followed by his personal maid Ning Hui. Ning Hui carried an exquisite food box in her hand, which looked heavy and substantial.

"Ning Hui, do you think my sister-in-law will like the chestnut cake I brought her?"

Ning Hui chuckled, "With the princess's thoughtfulness, Her Majesty the Empress will surely be pleased. This is the most famous chestnut cake in the capital, fresh and delicious; Her Majesty the Empress will definitely enjoy it."

Upon hearing this, Di Jinghan nodded in satisfaction, glanced at the food box, and cheerfully continued walking forward: "This princess also thinks that my sister-in-law will definitely like it! Let's go, let's go!"

As the two walked, they passed by the palace where the concubines lived. Two concubines, each accompanied by two maids, walked along the wide palace road, talking and occasionally giggling.

Although Di Jinghan didn't know what they were talking about, she felt inexplicably disgusted. In the past, she disliked living in the palace because of these women in the harem.

She looked around and saw no way out; the only way to avoid it was to turn back.
