Di Jingcheng committed suicide with longing and regret. His guilt and obsession were too deep. If there is reincarnation, he will definitely do everything he can to make her safe and happy.
His soul drifted to the end of the Yellow Springs Road and walked to Meng Po's side like a walking corpse. Meng Po saw that his karmic ties were not yet severed, and although her expression was indifferent, she could not hide the despair and regret all over her.
"Even if you drink this soup, it will be difficult for you to be reincarnated," Meng Po said earnestly, holding the Meng Po soup in her hands.
“I didn’t want to forget, and I dare not forget.” After saying that, Di Jingcheng took the soup from her hand and drank it all in one gulp.
Meng Po sighed and said earnestly, "Young man, remember, don't destroy what you have, and don't regret what you lose."
The dishes fell into the endless abyss beside him, and Di Jingcheng instantly lost consciousness.
—
When Di Jingcheng opened his eyes again, he found himself running through a thorny forest. He was severely injured, and someone was chasing him. Only one guard was with him, helping him run forward.
He remembered that in his previous life, it was in this very mountain forest that he met his Ah Zi! His mind instantly raced with excitement. Meng Po said he couldn't forget; he had actually been reborn with his memories intact!
However, he is still fleeing from his pursuers and is still some distance from where he met A Zi. He needs to get rid of the pursuers behind him first.
The two ran to a fork in the road, facing a dilemma. Di Jingcheng knew that the path on the right led to the Yi tribe, but he was not so sure about the other path.
The guard was a loyal subordinate. Seeing the emperor's injuries, he gritted his teeth and resolutely said, "Your Majesty, run to the right. I will lead them away!"
Upon hearing this, Di Jingcheng whispered his refusal: "No, we'll go together." In his previous life, this guard had sacrificed himself to protect him by drawing away the enemy.
He felt quite guilty that he didn't even know his own name.
As the two were in a tense standoff, they heard the sound of several people running behind them; they had caught up.
The guard looked anxiously at the emperor: "Your Majesty, it's too late! Please listen to me!"
Di Jingcheng covered his mouth and gently shushed him. Under his puzzled gaze, Di Jingcheng dragged his injured body a short distance down the left path, staining the grass with his blood.
After returning, he stained the path to the right with some more blood.
The guards helped him up: "Your Majesty, what's wrong?"
"Help me hide in the bushes over there." Emperor Jingcheng pointed to the tall bushes that were far from the fork in the road.
The guards quickly helped him move over, covered the remaining bloodstains with soil, and then covered them with grass.
After they finished doing all this, the enemy's footsteps drew closer, accompanied by voices. Three masked men in black, each holding a blood-stained knife, stopped at the crossroads.
The leader of the men in black looked at the two paths and noticed bloodstains on both. He pointed to the path on the left and said, "Both paths have bloodstains. They probably split up and ran away. You go over there, and I'll go over here."
"Yes!" The other two men in black immediately chased after them down the side path to the left.
The leader of the men in black did not immediately chase after them down the path to the right. He carefully observed his surroundings and moved slowly.
A moment later, he noticed something unusual about the bushes leading to the tall shrubs on his left. He cautiously observed his surroundings as he slowly approached the bushes.
Behind the bushes, Di Jingcheng clutched his abdominal wound, calmly watching the approaching man in black through the gaps.
He tore a piece of cloth from the hem of his clothes, gritted his teeth, and tied it around his wound to prevent it from aggravating.
"Your Majesty!" the guard exclaimed with great concern.
"It's alright. When he gets close, just run outside and leave the rest to me."
The guard nodded firmly; he would protect the emperor with his life!
The two waited patiently for the man in black to get closer. When he was only two steps away from the bushes, the guard unfastened his sword, got up, and ran outside.
He ran as fast as he could, trying to lure the man in black further away. The man in black saw a guard running out and immediately drew his sword and gave chase.
Di Jingcheng, hiding behind the bushes, took a few deep breaths, drew his sword from the side, and with his last bit of strength, used his lightness skill to silently stab the black-clad man in the heart from behind.
The guard ran quite a distance before stopping and looking back. The man in black stared at him with wide eyes, blood dripping from the tip of the knife in his chest.
Di Jingcheng had exhausted all his strength and suddenly collapsed to the ground. The world spun before his eyes. No! No! He had finally been reborn, he couldn't die!
The guards rushed over and caught the emperor, but dared not make a loud sound: "Your Majesty, Your Majesty! Please hold on! I will take you out!"
With his last ounce of strength, Di Jingcheng managed to say, "Go...to the right..." His hand, hanging limply on the ground, pointed weakly to the path on the right.
After saying that, he fell into a deep sleep, and it is unknown whether he will ever see Azi again.
The guard called out twice in a low voice, "Your Majesty! Your Majesty!"
The guard laid the unconscious Emperor Jingcheng on the ground, pulled the knife from the corpse beside him, and dragged the body behind the bushes to hide it. After doing all this, he carried the tall emperor on his back and fled along the path to the right, knife in hand.
He was very vigilant, but he didn't encounter any danger along the way.
He began walking towards the valley, believing that following the stream would surely lead him out of this deep forest. He hurried through the woods, and from the mountainside, he could faintly hear the soft singing of a woman.
He couldn't hide his joy. It seemed there were people in the mountains, probably hunters. He quickened his pace toward the valley, and the melodious singing grew closer, though he couldn't understand the language.
