Chapter 8 Awakening

The next morning, the village had already come alive.

Villagers toiled in the fields; young men and women leisurely met on the hilltop; children played and frolicked along the crisscrossing paths; and elderly people gathered at the village entrance, chatting and embroidering beautiful, ethnically distinctive patterns on fabrics of different colors...

Ranla Azi came out of the room, already dressed. Today she was wearing a bright red long dress with a brocade pattern on the collar, complemented by black lines. The collar extended diagonally from her neck down to the hem and then continued in a straight line. The collar had a unique pattern and was decorated with many silver ornaments, which were fastened with wire buckles.

The skirt was relatively wide, which was convenient for walking and other movements. Her fair little feet were adorned with a pair of red hemmed shoes, and her slender ankles were exposed to the air.

She didn't wear any headdress; instead, she simply braided her long, black hair, letting it hang down her chest and extend to her waist.

She was already exceptionally beautiful, possessing both the charm of ethnic minorities and the elegance of women from the Central Plains. Her appearance and temperament were outstanding, and although the clothes she wore were simple, they looked stunning on her.

With a faint smile on her lips, she opened the door to the room with her slender, fair hands and looked up to see Shi Ge Yimeng coming out of the kitchen carrying medicine.

The girl smiled brightly: "Good morning, Brother Yimeng!"

Shi Ge Yi Meng quickened her pace and walked over: "A Zi is awake! Hurry to the kitchen, I made purple rice cakes, your favorite!"

Ranla Azi was clearly overjoyed and walked briskly towards the kitchen, having obviously forgotten about the person in the attic.

Shi Geyi looked at her charming back and shook his head helplessly, his face full of doting affection.

On the small bed in the attic, Di Jingcheng had already woken up. He looked around, not daring to make any large movements.

Looking at the sleeping guard, he remained calm and quietly lay there, waiting for the person in his heart to arrive.

A moment later, footsteps could be heard outside. Di Jingcheng frowned as he listened to the footsteps. The footsteps were not light like a woman's. It couldn't be A Zi who had come; it must be Shi Ge Yimeng.

The moment the door opened, Di Jingcheng put aside all his thoughts, his brow relaxed, and a faint smile appeared on his pale face.

The guard was also awakened by Shi Ge's entry into the room. He immediately got up and took the medicine from Shi Ge's hand. There was also some breakfast on the tray.

"You're finally awake. Eat something first, and take your medicine." Shi Ge Yimeng had a comforting smile on her face, and her tone was kind and warm.

Di Jingcheng nodded and weakly said, "Thank you!"

The guard thanked him repeatedly, his gratitude genuine. After speaking, he hurried forward to serve his master his meal and medicine.

Shi Geyi stood aside, watching the harmonious master and servant, and curled the corners of his lips: "May I ask where you two are from? And why have you fallen to this state?"

Shi Ge Yimeng's words were somewhat blunt and unreserved, but this precisely reflected his simplicity and honesty; otherwise, how could he have lost so miserably in his entire life?

Upon hearing this, Di Jingcheng looked up at him and said, "Ahem, we are from the Central Plains, and our family has been in business for generations. However, we, master and servant, were targeted by thieves while on our business trip. We were robbed of everything and were even chased by them."

"Thank you for saving me!" Di Jingcheng said sincerely, more so than ever before. He looked at the vivid Shi Ge Yimeng before him, his memory somewhat hazy.

After Ah Zi's tragic death in his previous life, he, far away at the ends of the earth, committed suicide for the woman he loved. Such a simple, kind, and devoted man ultimately lived a life of regret.

Seeing his dazed expression, Shi Geyi assumed that he was seriously injured and feeling unwell.

"In that case, you're unlucky. There are indeed bandits who often roam around the foot of this mountain. But they never target the locals; they mostly rob outsiders, and their methods are quite cruel."

Upon hearing this, Di Jingcheng's eyes flickered slightly. In his previous life, Shi Ge Yimeng had never said these words to him, but now she had directly given him an excuse to conceal his identity.

Di Jingcheng coughed twice: "Thank you for saving me, young master. I am Xie Jingcheng, and this is my servant."

The guard quickly stepped forward and introduced himself: "Young master, I am Li Yannian."

Upon hearing this, Di Jingcheng secretly memorized the name.

"I am Shige Yimeng, you can just call me Yimeng. If you need anything, just tell me and I will arrange it. However, I hope you will stay here to recover and not wander around."

Di Jingcheng nodded. Since he hadn't seen Azi yet, he naturally wouldn't run around. Li Yannian, standing beside him, quickly agreed as well. The master and servant naturally wouldn't cause trouble for their savior.

On the other side, Ranla Azi ate something in the kitchen and then came to the attic. Her steps were light and quick, her hands hanging casually at her sides, and her braided hair swayed back and forth. Her skirt was not fitted at the waist, but her exquisite and delicate figure could be vaguely seen.

With a relaxed smile on her face, she gently pushed open the attic door. The door opened, and three men inside were looking at her, all with bright smiles.

Shi Ge stepped forward, greeting her warmly and naturally; "Azi, you've come! He's already awake!"

Azi nodded, walked into the house, looked at the two men from the Central Plains, and smiled slightly: "How are you feeling?"

Li Yannian stared at the beautiful young woman before him, momentarily stunned. Di Jingcheng coughed lightly, almost imperceptibly, "Thank you, young lady. We're alright now, but these injuries will need some time to heal..."

Upon hearing this, Li Yannian quickly snapped out of his daze, a hint of apology in his eyes, and stood aside with his head down.

Ranla Azi nodded: "Okay! You can stay here without worry."
