Azi, Di Jingcheng, and the other three entered the village. It was already noon, and the village was very quiet.
In the surrounding valley, people dressed in Yi ethnic costumes were working intently. Azi got off Di Jingcheng and pulled him towards their home.
Along the way, they encountered many familiar faces. Seeing the group dressed in unfamiliar clothes, the people were wary, their eyes filled with curiosity and a hint of fear. Azi greeted them warmly, and only then did they recognize her as their clan leader's daughter.
However, when Azi brought several strangers into the village, they still looked at her with disapproval, exchanged a few pleasantries with her in Yi language, and then turned and left.
A few of the bolder young men chased after Azi, asking who the person she had brought back was. Di Jingcheng could tell at a glance that these dark-skinned, spirited young men liked his Azi, but he didn't do anything. He just subconsciously tightened his grip on Azi's hand. He couldn't possibly beat someone up as soon as he entered the village.
Azi smiled, raised her hands, which were clasped tightly with Di Jingcheng's, and waved them at them: "This is my husband." (Yi language)
The young men looked Di Jingcheng up and down without any hesitation. They could tell he wasn't one of their Yi people. Where did Azi bring him back from?
"Azi, where are they from? Will the elders and clan leader agree to you two being together?"
Di Jingcheng remained indifferent, unconcerned about the young man's scrutiny. He let them look, since they meant no harm.
Azi smiled and said, "You don't need to worry about that. Hurry up and get to work. I just saw your father and mother looking for you!"
"Azi, let's go!"
"By the way, I heard you went out for a trip, but I didn't expect you to bring a man back!" A group of young men teased and ran off, leaving Azi shaking her head helplessly.
"What did they say, baby?" Di Jingcheng asked, puzzled. It seemed that those people were talking about him.
"It's nothing. They just said you looked unfamiliar and were curious. Don't worry, they meant no harm," Azi said, squeezing his hand to reassure him.
Di Jingcheng nodded, still feeling a little nervous. He was about to meet Azi's parents. Right, they were also his parents.
Arriving at Azi's house, Di Jingcheng held Azi's hand tightly, looked up at the tall, black and red door in front of him, and pursed his lips.
"Chengyi, go knock on the door."
"yes."
Cheng Yi stepped forward and knocked on the door. Soon, a gentle female voice came from inside. Upon hearing the voice, A Zi's expression couldn't help but show joy. It was the voice of her grandmother.
An elderly middle-aged woman opened the door from the inside, and Azi pulled Di Jingcheng to greet her: "Grandma, it's me, I'm back."
The old woman was overjoyed to see Azi, whom she had cared for since she was a child. She rushed forward and hugged her, her eyes filled with tears of joy: "Azi is back! Come in quickly!"
The old woman was a widow in the village whose husband had died. She was hardworking, capable, kind, and virtuous, but she had no one to rely on after losing her husband at a young age. Azi's mother took pity on her and took her into her home. She lived with the clan chief for more than 20 years, taking care of Azi as she grew up.
She treated Azi like her own daughter, and at this moment her eyes were filled with tears.
Azi pulled Di Jingcheng inside, talking to her grandmother as she asked, "Grandma, where are my father, mother, and grandfather? Are they all alright?"
Upon hearing this, the old woman looked somewhat troubled. After Azi left, the clan leader and the others were furious, and even Shige Yimeng was punished. Hearing that Azi was with a man from the Central Plains, she was even more enraged.
The old woman gently patted Azi's free hand, then turned to look at the other three. The man Azi was holding looked handsome and was from the Central Plains. He and Azi seemed well-matched, but it was uncertain whether they would ultimately end up together.
"Azi, the clan chief and the others are waiting for you. Take your people and wait in the main hall. I'll go and invite them over." The old woman looked worried, patted Azi's hand, and turned to walk upstairs.
Azi nodded, a sense of foreboding creeping into her heart. But no matter what, she would stand firmly by Acheng's side.
Di Jingcheng and the other two naturally couldn't understand what the two were saying, but they roughly understood what they were saying based on their tone and expressions.
"Ah Zi, who is she?"
"She was the old woman who took care of me since I was a child, just like a wet nurse in your area."
Azi and Di Jingcheng sat in the main hall waiting. After a while, a group of people led by Ranlayobu and Nalan Mingzhu hurriedly walked in.
The moment Nalan Mingzhu appeared, Di Jingcheng wondered if he was seeing things. In his previous life, he had never investigated the identity of Azi's mother. Now, looking closely at her appearance, she bore a striking resemblance to Nalan Mingyan and Nalan Yun'er, who had already been brought to justice.
Looking at Azi beside him, he noticed that she bore a resemblance to Nalan Mingyan, but Azi resembled Ranlayobu more.
Azi happily stepped forward and hugged her Nalan Mingzhu: "Mother, I missed you so much!"
Nalan Mingzhu gently patted her back and scolded her softly, "You ran out without a word and have been gone for so long! Father and Mother were so worried!"
"Mother, I was wrong~" Azi said softly and coquettishly.
Nalan Mingzhu released her: "Stand still."
Azi pouted and looked at Ranlayobu, who had a stern face, and asked, "Father, are you alright?"
Ranlayobu snorted and sat down. "Did that kid Shige Yimeng sneak you out just to find this man?" He pointed at Di Jingcheng, who was standing to the side.
Di Jingcheng met his sharp eyes and then nodded slightly. (This is in Chinese)
