Chapter 2 Su Peisheng
"Bang bang bang"
A cautious knock came at the door of the study, followed by a slightly effeminate male voice: "Master, a maid from Wutong Courtyard has brought over a bowl of old duck soup."
"Come in."
A clear, sharp male voice sounded in his ear. Even though he knew the person inside couldn't see him, Su Peisheng still bent down slightly. Ever since his master had been seriously ill recently, he had become unusually authoritative. Even Su Peisheng, who had served him since childhood, couldn't fathom his master's thoughts. Occasionally, when he felt his master's meaningful gaze, Su Peisheng would break out in a cold sweat.
During this period, Gao Wuyong, whom he had suppressed, was repeatedly given important positions. Su Peisheng's heart, which had become arrogant after becoming the chief eunuch, sank completely, fearing that he would be replaced. He was so frightened that he lost all his ulterior motives and focused solely on his master's thoughts, not daring to be negligent in the slightest.
Previously, he was always serving in the study, but now he's been banished to guard the door. Even though his master can't see him, Su Peisheng doesn't relax in the slightest. Even though his master's voice sounds much gentler now, he doesn't dare to let his guard down. He lowers his head and quietly carries the food box in, afraid of disturbing his master.
"Open it and let me see." Landis, no, it was Yinzhen, who had dedicated his life to finding amusement. He was already in character and casually picked up the eighteen-bead sandalwood bracelet on the desk and started to play with it. It felt quite nice.
"Yes." Su Peisheng carefully put down the food box and took out the still-warm old duck soup. As the soup bowl was taken out, a faint aroma of freshness filled the air. Yinzhen did not give any further instructions, and Su Peisheng dared not make any further moves. If it were before, he might have simply ladled a bowl and handed it over, but now that his master had only said to open it, he dared not do anything more.
Yinzhen raised an eyebrow, his gaze sweeping indifferently over Su Peisheng. It seemed this chief eunuch was quite frightened by the previous masters. It wasn't him who did it; Yinzhen didn't care now. He wasn't afraid of betrayal anyway; under his command, there were only the dead and the living, never betrayals.
Yinzhen picked up a soup spoon, stirred it a couple of times in the soup, took a small sip, and found it quite delicious. He suddenly realized the advantages of this new world. Not only was it interesting, but the food was also good; another point for him.
"Su Peisheng."
"Your servant is here." Su Peisheng responded promptly, not daring to raise his head, and bowed even lower. He didn't know why, even though his master's attitude had improved a lot today, he was even more terrified.
With a "clink," Yinzhen casually put down the bowl, and the sound of the porcelain spoon hitting the bottom of the bowl startled Su Peisheng.
"You've served me since you were a child. I hope our relationship will last a long time." Yinzhen said casually, without any emotion in his words, but Su Peisheng immediately knelt down and kowtowed repeatedly.
"This servant knows his mistake, this servant knows his mistake..."
Seeing the loud thud of his banging, and the bloodstains quickly spreading on the ground, Yinzhen's eyes remained unmoved, but he stopped him in time: "Alright, just remember what I said. Let Gao Wuyong come in and serve you. You go back and rest."
"Yes, this servant takes his leave." Su Peisheng struggled to his feet, his forehead covered in sweat and bloodstains. Even though he was unsteady on his feet, he dared not relax, for fear of delaying his master's orders.
"Go to the warehouse and get the scar-healing cream yourself. If you leave a scar, I won't leave you with one."
Upon hearing Yinzhen's words, Su Peisheng relaxed and quickly replied with a smile, "Yes, yes, thank you for the reward, Your Highness. This servant will definitely take good care of my injuries and make sure there are no scars."
"Go." Without saying anything more, Yinzhen waved his hand, dismissing Su Peisheng.
"This servant takes his leave." Su Peisheng backed out of the study, carefully closing the door behind him. Even though he was going to find Gao Wuyong now, he was in a good mood. He knew he had passed this hurdle; his master had let him off the hook because of the bond he had shared with him since childhood. From now on, he would have to be even more careful in his duties, and he couldn't just accept money from the inner quarters anymore. Even though his master said he would be promoted to principal wife after the concubine gave birth, Su Peisheng only had one master, and he couldn't have any disloyalty.
Besides, it seems that Su Peisheng isn't the only one being neglected these past few days. Even the concubine has been sidelined by the master. Has the bribery of the front courtyard been exposed? It seems the master hasn't mentioned promoting her to the rank of principal wife anymore…
Regardless of Su Peisheng's speculations, Yinzhen in the study resumed savoring the delicious old duck soup, ignoring the system's screams in his mind.
"Wow, host, you're amazing! You're so powerful! The system shows that you've completely subdued 'Su Fei'."
"Consort Su?" Yinzhen raised an eyebrow; he had heard something strange.
"Oh, it's Su Peisheng. I just found his nickname in the 'Empresses in the Palace' fanfiction community." System 555 answered quickly and projected a stack of collected information in front of Yinzhen. "I'm not the same person I used to be. I'm the new system who has explored the entire fanfiction community."
"Wow, that's amazing." Yinzhen smiled as he looked at the information 555 had sent. Su Fei, Da Ju, the Qing Dynasty Giant… countless references flooded his mind, softening his expression. Like a cat seeing a little bird, his eyes shone with intense curiosity. "Interesting, so interesting! Little Five, meeting you is truly my luck…" He was so glad he hadn't let her go…
"Hehehe, I'm very lucky to have met my host—" The little system, which remembered nothing, laughed sweetly, its core almost burning hot.
"By the way, aren't you a fan fiction creation system? How come you can also display the character's capture status?" Yinzhen asked curiously. How come he hadn't discovered this function before? Given his questioning methods, it shouldn't be possible.
"This..." 555 was unusually embarrassed and replied softly, "This is just a small component, given to me by another system..." No, it cost 10 points and the Palace Intrigue System to buy it. Waaah, I haven't even started earning money yet, and I'm already losing money.
555 was heartbroken, but she tried her best to appear calm and collected on the surface, not wanting her host to worry.
"I see. So the relationship between your systems is quite good."
Seeing that the host hadn't noticed, 555 reluctantly replied, "Yes, yes." Selling me components worth 5 points for double the price, isn't that great?
"Heh," Yinzhen chuckled. What a silly system. "Little Five, it must be because you are inherently good that other systems are willing to give you things."
"Hehehe, not really - you're good too, host -" 555, who was flattered by a single sentence, seemed to have really been given this part for free, and turned to praise her host.
"Yeah?"
"Of course, I like the host the most."
The cheerful reply from System 555 echoed in his mind. Yinzhen stirred the old duck soup with a smile, his eyes indifferent.
Unfortunately, I'm not a good person.
