Chapter 255 Succubus Landis 3
The newly born "chosen ones" certainly wouldn't perish at the demon race's auction. Their journey had only just begun, and with a bit of "luck" on their side, the three of them successfully escaped on the eve of the auction.
Incidentally, they also took away the poor black-haired boy, Landis.
"Phew, phew... We've finally escaped from the Abyss! Those mere demons couldn't possibly hold back the invincible Arreat!"
"If you're so capable, talk to me after you've caught your breath."
Olivia leaned against the tree trunk, her face slightly pale—a side effect of overusing magic. She looked at Arreat, who was spouting nonsense, speechless.
"Sier, how are you?"
Olivia's gaze swept lightly over the handsome black-haired boy, as if she had been burned, and she dared not linger for long before turning her gaze to her companion leaning against the tree trunk on the other side.
“I’m fine,” Syl said, opening his eyes and glancing at the silent Landis out of the corner of his eye. “Let’s leave here first. The Misty Forest isn’t an easy place to get through.”
"That's right, it's even harder to walk after dark."
Olivia straightened up and gestured for everyone to move forward. The tacit understanding they had developed during their previous adventures allowed the other two to follow her movements smoothly, leaving only Landis standing still.
"Landis, let's go—"
Arreat turned around, and unlike his two friends who were secretly watching him, his enthusiasm and affection for Landis were undisguised. Seeing Landis standing still, he quickly waved to him.
Olivia and Syle stopped and turned to look at him with concern. Even though they both said in private to be wary of the handsome, dark-haired boy who had suddenly appeared, they had unconsciously accepted him in their actions.
Lan, whose new identity is that of a half-human succubus named Tiss, raised her eyes and said softly, "I am the child of a human and a succubus, so I am half a demon. Don't you mind?"
"What's the big deal? You're a partner we recognize. Whether you're a demon or not doesn't matter."
Looking at Landis's pitiful appearance, Arreat quickly patted his chest and promised, "What does it matter if such a good Landis has demon blood?"
They are not racist people!
"But don't humans hate demons?" Landis pursed her lips, lowered her eyes, and looked lonely and pitiful. "Before... no one liked me..."
Mistaking the boy for someone hurt by his past experiences, the three felt even more sorry for him. Thinking of his own past, Hill took two steps forward and extended his hand to Landis.
"They didn't like me before, but we don't need anyone else's approval. Come with us."
"Yes, I... I don't care about status or anything like that. I can even accept the brainless Arreat. Landis, what are you afraid of? I'll protect you from now on!"
"Hey, hey, hey, who's brainless?!"
"Whoever jumps to conclusions, that's who it is—" Olivia rolled her eyes gracefully, ignoring Arreat's clamor, and extended her hand to Landis, "Come with us, let's go on an adventure together. This world is so wonderful, there's no need to care about other people's opinions."
“Me too,” Arreat joined in, extending his hand with a bright smile. “Landis, don’t worry, with the invincible Arreat around, no one will be able to bully you anymore. Join us!”
Looking at the three hands outstretched to him, Landis's eyes were filled with emotion. Under the expectant gazes of the three, he slowly extended his own hand, "Okay, thank you."
Having received his positive reply, the four of them clasped hands tightly, and everyone smiled. Arreat was radiant with sunshine, Olivia was aloof and noble, Syl was lively and elegant, and Landis was casual and alluring. Thus, the legendary team of the continent was formed in the misty, shrouded forest.
"Great! Our invincible team has gained another member!"
"I told you, don't call it the Invincible Squad, it sounds awful."
"What's that called?"
"I think the Wind Child Squad is pretty good."
"No, that's too sentimental."
"Viya, what name do you suggest?"
"How about irises?"
"What's so great about it? Landis, what do you say?"
"Oh, I have no objection, I'm fine with anything."
"Ugh, choosing a team name is such a hassle! What should we call it?"
...
"Oh - isn't this our legendary guardian? What are you doing sleeping here? The Silver Moon Realm is about to open, shouldn't you be maintaining order?"
On a soft rest seat on the second floor of the Starlight Magic Academy's library, lay a tall, slender man with black hair, a mental magic book open to cover his face.
Disturbed by the sarcastic shouting, a long, slender hand took down the magic book, revealing an extraordinary and beautiful face.
"Garrosh, you should know why you're not the most popular tutor in the academy."
Landis smiled faintly, completely unfazed by Garrosh's revisiting of his former title from his adventures, showing no embarrassment whatsoever.
"Tsk, they're all students who judge by their looks."
Garrosh was indignant, his heart churning with envy as he looked at Landis's increasingly handsome face. During class, all the students had said they would vote for him, but in the end, they all voted for Landis.
"Haha, Garrosh, you still can't get over it? It's been ten years, when did you surpass Landis in any of those years?"
Suddenly, a red-haired youth burst in through the window, laughing loudly. He squeezed next to Landis's seat and casually put his arm around his shoulder. "I don't care about looks. Do you think a top-tier mental mage like Landis wouldn't be popular?"
"Climbed in through the window again?" Landis looked at Arreat with a half-smile.
Arreat blushed inexplicably and touched his nose shyly. "Um... I promise... I promise I won't trigger the academy's protective shield again, Landis, you don't need to worry."
"If you don't want Landis to worry, then don't do anything stupid."
A girl's cool yet slightly mature voice came from the stairs, and soon a man and a woman appeared.
The woman was tall and slender, with long blue hair neatly tied behind her back. Her dress, understated yet luxurious, exuded a noble air with a touch of gentleness.
The man stood tall and elegant, with his light golden medium-length hair casually draped over his neck. His features were deep and revealed a lively and mysterious quality. He wore a light white silk robe and had a smile on his face, clearly agreeing with the woman's words.
"Landis, it's been a long time."
Syl greeted Landis with a smile and sat down on the other side of Landis without any hesitation. Olivia saw that Landis was occupied by two big men on both sides, rolled her eyes with a speechless yet elegant expression, and chose to sit down in the seat opposite him.
Seeing the three people who entered treating him as if he were nothing, Garrosh flew into a rage, his beast ears practically popping out in anger. "Hey, hey, hey, you three aren't students of the academy anymore, so why are you still running around here every day!"
“Can’t I come to see Landis?” Arreat glared back at Garrosh. He’d seen it all back in school; this kid was no good. He was always provoking Landis. Landis stayed on campus, so did he. Did he really think no one could see through his little scheme?
“Garrosh, since you’re unhappy about Landis’s election, you don’t have to stay here.”
Syl's smile was gentle, but her tone was anything but polite; she immediately started to kick people out.
"Tsk," Olivia glanced unhappily at the furry ears sticking out of Garrosh's head, "You're being a pervert."
"You, you guys..." Garrosh's face turned red, whether from anger or embarrassment, it was hard to tell. What's wrong with an orc showing his ear? He wasn't trying to mate, he wasn't.
Garrosh glanced at Landis, who wasn't getting involved, but he knew that with these three around, he wouldn't be able to chat with Landis. He glared at them angrily and turned to leave.
The more he walked, the angrier and more heartbroken he became. If only he had met Landis sooner, and there would have been the story of the legendary guardian team.
"What brings you here?"
Looking at the three men before him, each with their own distinct style, Landis couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. They truly deserved to be called "chosen ones"; in less than thirty years, they had all become powerful figures in their respective regions.
Olivia became the de facto ruler of the royal family, and could become the first empress of the continent at any time if she wished; Syl, as a half-elf, successfully advanced to the level of a great natural mage and became the "uncrowned king" of the elves.
Arreat, who appears carefree and ordinary, actually follows the path of both magic and martial arts. He is not only a great fire mage but also a high-level swordsman, a guest of honor of various races, and does very well wherever he goes. The "Free Alliance" that he single-handedly built has quickly become a major emerging force on the continent of Azeroth.
"Several secret realms have been developed recently, and the price of various magical elements has skyrocketed. I feel there's something wrong, so I came to you to take a look."
When the conversation turned to business, Olivia frowned slightly, naturally revealing a royal air about her.
"Elemental upheaval?"
Landis seemed to be deep in thought. After waiting for so long, has the world upgrade finally arrived?
