When Shen Shiyu and Hao Yujie arrived in Anshi, everyone was packing their luggage and waiting to get off the train.
Shen Shiyu, carrying her luggage, kept complaining about the crowds and how crowded it was.
She complained the whole way, and kept complaining about how far the train station was. Hao Yujie was so slow and leisurely that she almost wanted to vomit.
She originally wanted to use the same tactics she used in school, pretending to be weak to gain sympathy from other women who knew about her situation.
After several days on the train, everyone's initial enthusiasm had completely wilted.
She didn't want everyone at school to fawn over her, but no one paid any attention to her, which made her so angry that she cried and sobbed.
Seeing Shen Shiyu like this, Hao Yujie could only threaten her: "If you don't leave, no one will wait for you. If human traffickers grab you and drag you into some remote mountain valley, we'll see if you're still crying then."
After speaking, Hao Yujie ignored her and hurried to the car that was picking up the educated youth.
Fortunately, Hao Yujie walked quickly and found a seat ahead of everyone else, sitting in the front row.
These were things that Hao Yujie's sister's classmates told her about when he went to the countryside, so that she would not suffer any losses.
Therefore, Hao Yujie was very clear-headed the whole way, and before getting into the car, she told Shen Shiyu to put her money in her inner pocket.
Once on the bus, follow Hao Yujie's instructions completely; this is the only way to ensure their safety throughout the journey.
Shen Shiyu also had complaints, but he was helpless without his parents and had to rely on Hao Yujie, so he had no choice but to listen to him.
Shen Shiyu couldn't bear to think about it anymore. Before, she was the one bossing him around, but now the tables had turned.
She was angry but had to listen to what others said, so she took off the leather shoes she wanted to wear before her period and put on cloth-soled shoes instead.
Looking at her clothes, all of which were old, and her hair in two braids, with her watch hidden in her sleeve, she seemed very ordinary at first glance.
I had worn this myself, but Hao Yujie insisted that when I was with her, I should dress simply so I wouldn't stand out.
Whether on the train or on the way to the countryside, everything had to be done according to Hao Yujie's instructions.
With a lump in her throat, Shen Shiyu slowly carried her luggage and huffed and puffed as she followed the direction the crowd was moving.
Hao Yujie got on the bus first to reserve seats. Luckily, she ran fast and managed to grab two seats, so she wouldn't be without seats later.
If there were many educated youth, there might not be any seats available, or seats in the back row. So, as soon as she got off the train, Hao Yujie quickly grabbed her luggage.
She ran incredibly fast, overcoming all obstacles, and before anyone knew what was happening, Hao Yujie was already far away.
When they got into the car, they saw that Hao Yujie was already sitting and waiting.
Shen Shiyu, carrying her luggage alone, looked at the crowded people and finally reached her destination, only to find herself on the verge of tears looking at the person who had paid.
Fortunately, seeing Hao Yujie getting on the bus, I gestured for him to get on and saved him a seat. My bad mood from not having anyone to help me just now vanished as soon as I got a seat.
Shen Shiyu noticed that there were many cars without seats, and it was only after some mediation that an additional car was added so that she could finally sit down.
The aisle and the luggage racks under the seats were all filled with luggage; there wasn't a single empty seat. Everyone had their own belongings under their legs.
Everyone was carrying large and small bags. After arranging their luggage, everyone relaxed and waited for the driver to depart.
The people on this train were all educated youth heading to Zhou County. They came from all over the country and were scattered in various townships and communes in Zhou County.
After boarding the bus to Zhou County, Shen Shiyu still couldn't see Song Yining. She then looked at the other buses.
They found no trace of Song Yining, and Shen Shiyu was certain that Song Yining was probably not coming.
I was secretly delighted. My dad was really good at handling things, which meant I wouldn't have to face Song Yining anymore.
He felt uneasy knowing that Song Yining had leverage over him, along with that written guarantee.
Shen Shiyu thought to herself, "My father and his men must have succeeded. Now I can rest easy."
I felt all the fatigue from the journey disappear, and I was even humming a song softly.
Hao Yujie was puzzled. What was wrong with this ancestor? He had been looking around the front and back of the car, and then at the other cars, as if he was looking for something.
A moment later, he was humming a song again. I really couldn't figure it out, so I shook my head and stopped thinking about it.
She rolled her eyes; her temper really was more unpredictable than the weather.
I turned my head away and ignored her, then quickly went to sleep. I hadn't had a proper night's sleep these past few days because I'd been traveling so much.
The journey was tiring; we hadn't slept well on the train, and then we boarded a bus to the countryside. Everyone had completely lost the excitement they had at the beginning.
Most of them were asleep, some even snoring softly, and everyone was sleeping in various positions, leaning to the left or right.
Shen Shiyu watched with a joyful heart as everyone drifted off to sleep.
Still excited, Shen Shiyu watched as everyone fell asleep, yawning repeatedly, and eventually drifted off to sleep herself.
The car drove on the bumpy road, but it didn't affect their sleepiness at all.
After another three hours of bumpy travel, we finally arrived at the Zhou County Educated Youth Office. After counting the number of people, we rushed to Majia Town Commune.
The team leaders from each village were waiting there. Majia Town is close to the county seat, and it only takes half an hour to get to the town's educated youth office.
The comrades from the Youth Affairs Office of Majia Town Commune have arrived and have begun assigning people to various brigades.
The team leader of Yangjia Village was already waiting there, ready to take away the educated youth from their team.
Their brigade was very close to the commune, just over an hour's walk away, but most people took oxcarts to the county town.
