Chapter 5 Taking Home Property

Song Yining dared not make any rash moves. Standing at the entrance of the cave, she listened and heard that there seemed to be no one outside before slowly opening the mechanism and arriving at what appeared to be a storage room.

Song Yining looked around warily, not daring to take out a flashlight, and left the storage room in the dark.

Look at the yard, this seems to be the back building. The yard is overgrown with weeds, it looks like no one has lived here for a long time.

Song Yining took a flashlight and first looked around. The yard was very large, and the house next to the storage room was filled with a lot of old furniture, which was placed in a mess.

It was clear that these were all old pieces of furniture. As Song Yining walked into the yard, she suddenly heard crying, which startled her.

But sensing something was off about the sound, Song Yining grabbed a wooden stick and followed the sound all the way to the source of the noise.

Fortunately, it was a passageway, and there was something that looked like a seashell on the wall; the sound was coming from there.

Song Yining was certain that someone had used the wind in the passageway to create a sound that closely resembled crying.

I don't want anyone to come to this courtyard; I want to protect it from being encroached upon.

Now Song Yining was no longer afraid. The courtyard had been uninhabited for a long time, overgrown with weeds and littered with dead branches and fallen leaves.

After touring around, Song Yining was certain that this courtyard seemed to consist of several adjacent courtyards.

It seems that each courtyard has been fitted with a whistle, so that when the wind blows, it makes a sound, and when it passes over the seashells, it makes a sound like crying.

Song Yining marveled at the ingenuity of the person who invented this mechanism, saying that they cleverly manipulated people's hearts to prevent those with ulterior motives from living here.

The once beautiful courtyard was now abandoned, and Song Yining had been busy all night.

I'm so sleepy right now, I need to go into my space and rest for a while. I need to get home early tomorrow morning.

Fortunately, the temperature inside the space remained around 20 degrees Celsius, neither too hot nor too cold, and it was always daytime. Song Yining lay down in the wooden cabin inside the space and fell asleep next to the bed board.

The space has undergone significant changes due to the gold, silver, jewelry, antiques, and calligraphy and paintings that have been collected.

Song Yining woke up naturally in her space. After washing up, she found that her space was different. The black soil that was originally only 10 square meters seemed to have become larger.

The courtyard of the wooden house still contained boxes of gold and silver jewelry that had been collected yesterday. Song Yining didn't have time to collect the things inside the house right now.

Once outside the main space, there are courtyards, and all the furniture inside is stored inside the main space.

Song Yining looked at the furniture with delight, feeling so happy she could fly. This furniture would be very valuable in the future.

The yard of the wooden house was piled up full, but thankfully the furniture was all sorted out once it was brought into the space, otherwise Song Yining would have had a lot more to do.

After half an hour, Song Yining had collected most of what she could see and was ready to leave.

I saw a courtyard in the side courtyard, with artificial hills standing in a well-organized manner, and a small bamboo grove behind them.

Song Yining still didn't let go of any opportunity. She walked over to the artificial hill and looked around. By sheer luck, she found a mechanism.

This mechanism is very well hidden; Song Yining wouldn't have missed it if she hadn't tripped over a rock.

For safety, Song Yining activated the mechanism and entered the space. She saw a stone step appear under a stone slab.

Holding the flashlight I'd taken yesterday, I walked down the stone steps. I felt like I'd descended about five or six meters before reaching the end of the steps.

Song Yining looked around and saw that this place was under a bamboo grove and a rockery, and at the bottom it was full of boxes.

It's very dry inside; the moisture-proofing measures are excellent. The boxes are all well-preserved, with only a light layer of dust on them.

There were jewelry, antiques, calligraphy and paintings, some lost ancient books, and large and small yellow croakers, which were similar to what was collected in the cave.

Song Yining estimated that there were forty or fifty boxes. She noticed that each box was labeled with the approximate contents.

Song Yining didn't open it yet, but put it into her spatial storage first, planning to look at it later when she had time. After putting it away, Song Yining checked it over, making sure not to miss any spot.

Upon hearing that the inspection was complete, Song Yining hurried up the stone steps.

Song Yining was practically floating on air; what incredible luck! Han Ping and her daughter would be furious if they knew, while Song Yining was secretly overjoyed.

They had been searching for these things for over a decade, and he found them in a single night. It was as if fate had decreed that these things belonged to the original owner, and thus to him.

I didn't feel guilty about putting them away; it's only right for me to put my own things away.

After coming up, I checked the yard again to see if there was anything I had missed. The yard had been uninhabited for a long time and looked very desolate, with weeds growing everywhere on the stone steps and the stone path.

Song Yining walked around and saw the well in the yard. Unwilling to give up, she began to inspect it to see if any fish had escaped.

He thought to himself, "These rich people really know how to hide things. They're like a cunning rabbit with three burrows. I've already searched two places, let's see if there are any more, and try my luck."

Anyway, these all belong to the original owner, and even if they belong to his own family, there's no burden in keeping them.

My mother told me that the Shen family was very wealthy in the generation of my great-grandfather. During the war, my grandfather donated a lot of things and took some personal belongings with him when he passed away.

Song Yining was certain that this grandfather of the Shen family was very wise and had definitely transferred his assets long ago.

Merchants are very well-informed and have connections in various fields, which is why Shen Zhi hasn't been affected all these years.

Shen Zhi was focused on his work at the research institute and rarely came home, so the two had little contact, and each time he did come back, it was in a hurry.

This allowed the mother and daughter to act with impunity at home, tricking Shen Zhi into recognizing their daughter.

Song Yining wandered around the yard for almost the entire morning without finding it. Seeing that it was getting late, she hurried back.

Otherwise, Mom and Dad will worry if they don't see me at noon. I'm planning to go back first today.

I didn't go home last night, I don't know if my parents came home today.

Song Yining leaped over the courtyard wall. Luckily, there was no one outside the wall at that moment. There were rumors of ghosts in this area, and most people didn't dare to come over.

This made it easier for Song Yining to come and go. After coming out, Song Yining changed her clothes, pushed her way through the crowd and walked onto the street to see where she was.

Fortunately, after walking for a while, they saw the supply and marketing cooperative not far from the Shen family's house. This supply and marketing cooperative was the opposite of the place where Song's mother, Zhang Lan, worked.

Now Song Yining knew the exact location of that courtyard, and she took the bus all the way home.

The tension in my heart eased, and I retrieved the hidden ancestral property without any major incident. Now, let the mother and daughter search for it at their leisure.

That's all for today. I'll look for anything I might have missed when I have another chance.
