Chapter 54 Seeking Help

When Shen Peng saw his mother worrying about her hometown again, he comforted her once more.

"Yes, things are almost done here recently, so we'll figure out a way to go to Hong Kong first, and then we'll try to go back there."

We have money, and we're afraid we won't be able to go back. But something's happened to the children here, so I need to make some careful plans. If we can't make it through winter, we can leave this place.

"Good, good, I'm content with what you've said. These past years have been too tiring, and you've had to live in fear just like me."

From now on, our family will live happily together, basking in the bright sunshine. We'll slowly enjoy life over there.

"Absolutely! This is what we've been working towards all these years, and it's about to be realized!"

"Then be careful when you go back later. Everything is fine here with your mother, so you don't need to worry about her."

After they finished speaking, the two went out. Shen Peng rode his bicycle out, while Old Mrs. Shen, dragging her tired body, closed the door and went back to her room to sleep.

Shen Peng rode his bicycle home. Han Ping had left the door open for him. There was no one inside; they were waiting for Shen Peng to return.

When he got home, he saw Han Ping waiting for him. He felt very grateful. This silly woman had followed him without any complaints. He would do his best for her in the future.

Once we get there, we'll find a few nannies so my wife can have a good time.

Watching Han Ping busy herself, he felt a sense of satisfaction. He pulled Han Ping into the room, and the ambiguous atmosphere slowly returned...

Unexpectedly, at the last moment, Shen Peng was powerless to help. Han Ping quickly tried to make amends, saying, "You've been working too hard lately. I'm so sorry to have troubled you. I'm just useless and can't help you at all."

Han Ping nestled in Shen Peng's arms, saying those touching words. The two leaned against each other, and Shen Peng felt healed by what Han Ping said.

Han Ping was so uncomfortable that she could hardly breathe. Only when Han Ping was in pain did Shen Peng release her.

Having satisfied his desires, he held Han Ping and fell asleep peacefully. Han Ping, however, thought that Shen Peng had gone to cheat on her again that night.

Looking into Shen Peng and Han Ping's mournful eyes could kill them.

Han Ping was thinking that she had to go back to her parents' home tomorrow to find her mother's medicine, squeeze Shen Peng dry, and see if he would still go out and cheat on her.

The next day, both of them were preoccupied with their own thoughts, and after dinner, they went about their own business.

Han Ping went home to find her mother, "Mom, do you still have those medicines from before? Quickly get me some more."

Old Mrs. Han is doing a little better now; she speaks more fluently. Looking at her good-for-nothing daughter, she can only ask her son to get her some more.

Shen Peng went to Zhangjia Village outside the city and followed the directions of passersby to Zhang Wulang's house.

Zhang Wulang's house was at the end of the village, an inconspicuous thatched hut that looked like an ordinary courtyard from the outside.

Seeing someone approaching, he looked at Shen Peng warily. "Hello, Zhang Wulang, right? You saved my mother in the city last time, and I've come to thank you."

I took the things I bought from the bicycle and went into the yard.

Zhang Wulang was puzzled as to why he couldn't remember saving anyone. There was no one outside Shenpeng Courtyard, so he went inside and took out the token his mother had given him, showing it to Zhang Wulang.

Upon seeing the keepsake, Zhang Wulang first checked if anyone was outside, then closed the door and gazed at the keepsake, longing for his beloved.

He rationally held the token and looked at Shen Peng, "He asked you to come here because he wants to."

"Help me with something in Qin Province. There's a girl who's been sent to the countryside, about seventeen or eighteen years old. Send her to a remote mountain village to be a public wife."

"Give me your address. Once this is done, I won't owe her anything anymore."

"good"

After saying that, he handed Zhang Wulang the address where Song Yining had gone to the countryside, along with a photo of Song Yining.

He then took out a wad of cash from his pocket, which looked to be about 1,000 yuan, and handed it to Zhang Wulang.

He didn't stand on ceremony and, holding the money, gestured for Shen Peng to leave.

Upon seeing this, Shen Peng left the courtyard and said, "Thank you for saving my mother. I'll be leaving now."

Shen Peng didn't know what their relationship was; he just needed to get this done.

Early in the morning, Old Man Song mailed herbs and other things that Zhang Lan had prepared to his granddaughter.

After sending these things, Old Man Song strolled leisurely towards Shen Junjie's official workplace.

When they arrived at the Armed Forces Department, Old Man Song explained his purpose to the gatekeeper: "I'm looking for Shen Junjie. Just say you're Old Man Song from Songjia Village."

The old man could tell that the man knew the new leader because he was calling out the old man's name.

Shen Junjie didn't go out this morning; he happened to be at work when he heard that it was Old Man Song who had come.

He came out with the gatekeeper, and he was very curious because he knew that Uncle Song must have something to do with his presence.

"Uncle Song, it's so kind of you to come see me!"

"Hi, it's Ning Yatou. She called to let me know she was safe and sound, and said there were a lot of mosquitoes over there, so she asked me to get some insect repellent powder and send it to her."

I happen to be missing a few herbs, and since a few families in the village wanted to ask about their children joining the army, I thought of you and came to inquire.

"Alright, I happen to be free right now, let's go to my office and have a chat, you and I."

“Great! I’ll go sit in the leader’s office and show off to everyone in the village when I get back.”

"Ha ha"

Shen Junjie sensed a hidden meaning in the old man's words and quickly led him into his office.

Grandpa Song actually wandered around the office. The room was very simple, and Grandpa Song wasn't particularly curious after taking a look.

Shen Junjie mouthed, "Is it safe?"

After saying "safety," Shen Junjie went to check outside the door again to make sure no one was there before taking out the list he had compiled and showing it to him.

Shen Junjie looked at the paper that Uncle Song had brought over, on which were written explanations, and his heart immediately became uneasy.

"Uncle, this is what Ningning passed on to you. Are you sure it's real?"

“Absolutely. I know that child. She can’t just say things without a clear beginning or end. She must be passing on a message. You can tell from it that she’s been monitored.”

"She's new here and doesn't know anyone there, so this is the only way she can pass messages to me. She's asking for our help, which is safer that way."

Shen Junjie listened to Grandpa Song's words and pondered, trying to figure out what a solution might be.

The problem here is also quite thorny. Shen Peng has been secretly consolidating the assets here recently, and he definitely wants to leave. They need to continue to follow up.

There are still some follow-ups on Shen Peng and his mother's affairs. They are going in both directions. Shen's mother is a veteran spy.

She has been in our country for over 40 years, transmitting a great deal of information, but we have yet to find her upline and downline.

They hid it well enough that their men dared not get too close, for fear of alerting them. They could only try to find something from the smallest clues.

This incident involved the downfall of many officials, and Shen Junjie still had to stay in office to oversee the overall situation, so he couldn't go himself.

After pondering for a while, Shen Junjie had no choice but to turn to his former good partner, who was now his new comrade-in-arms.

Feeling more at ease going to Ningning's place, Shen Junjie still sought help from his good friend Mo Yucheng, the captain of the Beicheng Special Forces.

His teams are all top-notch, and they are always doing tricky missions.
