Chapter 120: Encountering Bad Guys Who Capture Monkeys

Xia Anyan had never learned about this before, but since things had come to this point, she had no choice but to learn.

She was hesitating about how to remove the broken part from the little monkey when she heard footsteps and voices outside the cave: "Brother, we've been searching in these mountains for days and haven't found them. Could those monkeys have already run away?"

"Damn it, those damn monkeys, I hope I don't catch them, or I'll kill them!"

"Damn it, I told you guys to keep an eye on them. As long as we handed those monkeys over to the higher-ups, we could finally get some rest. You bunch of idiots had to insist on drinking at that time. Now look what happened, we can't find the monkeys, and none of you will have a good time."

The expressions on those people's faces were rather unpleasant.

They didn't want to either, but...

Who knew that just when we were about to succeed, those monkeys got away?

"Big brother, the smallest monkey has a broken leg, so it can't have gone far. Monkeys are social animals; they won't abandon the little one. Let's keep looking; we're sure we'll find it!"

"Yes, boss, don't be angry. We'll try harder, and we'll definitely find it."

Xia Anyan was initially overjoyed, thinking that Captain Gong and his team had come looking for her after discovering she was missing.

She had already made plans to go out and look for the person, but she never expected that they would be bad people.

And... it seems those bad guys came for the monkeys.

This injured little monkey was also their doing!

Xia Anyan was a little angry.

But the monkeys were even angrier than she was.

They jumped up excitedly, squeaking as if they wanted to rush out and fight those people to the death.

Xia Anyan was so frightened that her heart jumped into her throat.

She quickly made a shushing gesture and lowered her voice: "Don't talk, don't shout, don't let them hear."

But it was too late for Xia Anyan to say it.

The people outside were nearby, so they naturally heard what was happening inside.

"Boss, there's a sound."

Those people surrounded the cave entrance in an instant.

"Brother, the noise I'm hearing seems to be coming from inside this cave. Do you think they might be hiding inside?"

"Are those monkeys really that smart?"

"You don't know this, do you? Monkeys are actually the most similar to humans. Otherwise, why do you think the higher-ups would have us capture monkeys?"

Xia Anyan's heart was in her throat.

She also learned the identities of those bad guys.

If they find out, these monkeys won't be spared, and she will definitely die too.

She can't handle them alone. The only way is to have Captain Gong lead a team to deal with them.

It seems she can't keep these monkeys out in the open; she has to move them into her spatial dimension.

As the footsteps grew closer, Xia Anyan raised her hand and put all the monkeys into her spatial dimension. She herself then flashed into the space.

The people and monkeys had barely disappeared when the others came in: "Damn, I didn't expect this place to be so big. This is a hidden paradise!"

"Boss, look, there's water here, and bloodstains on it. Those monkeys must have stayed here before."

"Big brother, there's light over there. Could those monkeys have run away from there?"

The people gathered around the light.

But there was nothing there, just a steep cliff.

There wasn't even a vine, let alone a rope. How did those monkeys get away?

"Damn it, this is exhausting."

"I haven't had a proper rest in ages because I've been searching for those beasts."

"Once we find those beasts, I'm going to teach them a lesson. If it weren't for finding them, we'd be in bed right now, sleeping soundly with a woman in our arms."

Inside the space, Xia Anyan listened to their conversation, her face looking quite unpleasant.

She glanced at the monkeys that had fallen asleep as soon as they entered the space and decided to leave them for the time being.

She used the space to monitor the movements of the people outside, then slipped out of the space, avoiding their gaze, and walked outside.

A snapping sound rang out, and Xia Anyan looked down to find that it was a branch that had been broken by stepping on it.

She cursed under her breath and quickly slipped into the space.

At the same time, a man ran over to check.

Seeing nothing, he suspiciously surveyed the surroundings.

Xia Anyan patted her chest.

That was close, really close, we almost got discovered.

"Sixth Brother, what's going on?"

Someone called out from over there. The man who came over to check the situation scratched his head and walked back with a puzzled look on his face.

"I didn't find anything. That's really strange. I clearly heard a sound just now, so how come I didn't hear anything?"

Not only can't he not understand, but those people can't understand either.

But they've already searched, they've practically turned the cave upside down, and they still can't find anything, so there's nothing they can do.

Xia Anyan was much more careful this time.

After leaving the cave, she quickly ran back the way she came.

She did her best to stay away from the cave.

Even if we can't meet with Captain Gong and his group right now, we should at least avoid running into those people.

Otherwise, even she herself would be in danger.

After running for an unknown amount of time, Xia Anyan heard voices ahead.

This time she was more careful. After stopping, she hid behind a big tree and did not rush forward immediately.

"Captain, we can't keep searching blindly like this. Why don't we split up and search separately?"

“No,” Captain Gong said, his face grim. “This place isn’t our base. If something happens here, it will be very troublesome.”

"Let's search first. She's a woman, she can't have gone far, we'll definitely find her."

It was Captain Gong and his team.

Xia Anyan smiled and stood up from behind the big tree.

"I'm here."

Her commotion was quite loud, and those people quickly reacted, but their first reaction was to pull out their guns, not to be delighted.

Only after seeing that it was Xia Anyan did he put the gun away.

Captain Gong breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Xia Anyan was alright. He stepped forward and asked, "Sister-in-law, what happened just now?"

Xia Anyan didn't have time to talk to him much. She was in a hurry and needed to get people to the cave as soon as possible.

"Captain Gong, don't ask so many questions now. Take your men and come with me somewhere."

Xia Anyan didn't say anything, she just wanted them to come with her, but Captain Gong obviously couldn't agree to that.

"Sister-in-law, we've been out for quite a while now. If we go back late, Uncle Zhang and the others will worry."

"Let's take you back first."

Xia Anyan was somewhat conflicted.

Going back now is indeed very safe, but what about those people?

If they get away, we'll never find them again.
