Chapter 6 Reporting to the Police

After catching up with Xia Anyan, Lao Li didn't take her back. Instead, he took her to another property.

This is where Grandpa Xia lives. But he's not here most of the time, so it's been vacant.

"Uncle Li, don't worry about me. You should go back quickly. Otherwise, they will definitely talk badly about you to Dad, saying that you favor me and don't care about their lives. Dad will be angry."

Xia Anyan looked very down, her face was ashen, and she looked quite pitiful.

Old Li felt a pang of pity and gritted his teeth, saying, "Miss, I'm worried about you staying here alone. I'll explain to the master when he gets back."

explain?

Oh, let's see if that jerk will listen!

Xia Anyan went back to the room the old man had prepared for her. She had barely stepped inside when she climbed out the window and went to the cellar.

The old man has a particularly large cellar here, which was built by someone he had done because his ancestors were used to living in the countryside.

Later, when he became wealthy, he used the cellar to store some valuables.

If she wasn't mistaken, some of the assets Xia Zhengyuan was taking with him should be stored here.

She guessed correctly. In the cellar, there were more than a dozen wooden crates. When Xia Anyan saw what was inside, her eyes turned red with anger.

"You bastard Xia Zhengyuan, you dare to scheme against me! I'll make sure you all suffer a terrible death!"

With a wave of his hand, all the boxes disappeared.

She climbed back through the window and walked around the entire villa, taking away all the valuables and leaving only simple tables and chairs.

"Uncle Li, Uncle Li!"

Xia Anyan's voice rang out in the room, urgent yet tinged with fear.

Old Li was startled and quickly ran up to the third floor: "Miss, are you alright?"

Xia Anyan opened the door, her face pale: "Uncle Li, I... I wanted to come to Grandpa's room to check on him, but... but..."

Old Li didn't understand what she was trying to say, so he peeked inside to take a look.

He didn't know until he saw it, and his pupils constricted.

He knew Xia Zhengyuan was transferring assets, but... he also took everything from the old man's place?

"Uncle Li, where are my grandfather's things? Why is everything empty?"

She was so frightened that she cried, pointing to her room: "I was so sad just now that I didn't pay attention to anything else, but now that I think about it, all my things are gone! Grandpa bought them for me!"

"Uncle Li, do you think someone came to steal something? Who could it be, and why are they so bold?"

Old Li didn't know how to answer.

He can't very well say, "These were all done by the gentleman," can he?

“Miss, perhaps… perhaps the master hasn’t lived here for a long time, so… he just put the things away.”

Old Li's lies are so ridiculous, I bet even he doesn't believe them himself.

Xia Anyan pouted: "Uncle Li, Grandpa wouldn't do that. He must have encountered a thief. Yes, call the police."

After she finished speaking, she ran towards the door.

Old Li wanted to stop him, but he couldn't.

When the neighbors heard that this house had been robbed, they were also worried that their own house was being targeted, so they agreed to Xia Anyan's request to make a phone call without hesitation.

However, before the police arrived after the call was made, Xia Zhengyuan showed up with two annoying guys.

He wanted to hit Xia Anyan as soon as he arrived.

"Waaah, Dad, you've finally come."

Before the slap could land, Xia Zhengyuan was embraced tightly by Xia Anyan.

Because his belly was too big, Xia Anyan couldn't hold him, but the little one jumped directly into his arms, leaving Xia Zhengyuan in a dilemma: whether to slap him or not.

Xia Anhua was so angry she almost ground her teeth to powder.

Damn Xia Anyan, how come she's so good at seducing men!

Even Dad...

"Dad, please don't blame my sister. Even though there was no one else at home at the time, it doesn't mean she started the fire!"

Xia Anhua's words instantly made Xia Zhengyuan realize what was going on.

He shoved her away abruptly, his face cold: "Xia Anyan, tell me the truth, did you start that fire? Did you want to burn your mother and your sister to death?"

Xia Anyan looked on in disbelief: "I set a fire?"

"Yes, I set them on fire. I wanted to burn them to death, and I even let them escape, but I almost burned to death myself. I wanted to burn them to death, so all the things I needed for my trip to the countryside were gone, even my savings book was burned. I did it all for revenge. Dad, are you satisfied with this answer?"

Old Li ran out at the right moment and explained what had happened.

Xia Zhengyuan hesitated. On the one hand, he worried that Xia Anyan was putting on a show to soften his heart and prevent him from forcing her to go to the countryside; on the other hand, he also felt that Xia Anyan wouldn't be that ruthless.

Xia Zhengyuan's expression kept changing, making it difficult to discern his emotions.

Just then, the police arrived.

They also received a tip that someone was committing theft in the area, and the amount involved was huge.

But looking at this scene, something just doesn't feel right.

Who called the police?

Xia Zhengyuan and the other two tensed up and all looked at Xia Anyan.

Xia Anyan, her eyes red, raised her hand: "It's me, police officer, I called the police!"

She recounted her family's situation, crying as she spoke. Her originally beautiful face, adorned with tears, looked even more pitiful.

Xia Zhengyuan's forehead veins throbbed, and his heart was in his throat.

There are still quite a few things stored in this cellar. He originally planned to take them away tonight, but if they were discovered…

"How can you talk nonsense like that? You can't just call the police like that!" Xia Zhengyuan scolded angrily, looking at the police officer. "I'm sorry, officer, my daughter is talking nonsense. She's just angry with us, that's why she said that on purpose. Nothing is missing from our house!"

Zhou Xiuning also stepped forward: "Yes, nothing was stolen from the house. The child is just making things up."

The police officer's expression changed instantly. He looked at Xia Anyan with a serious expression and said, "Comrade, don't you know that making a false police report is illegal? Don't think that just because you're a woman, we won't pursue this matter. Now, please come back with us."

Xia Anyan cried even more pitifully, her shoulders heaving as if she was about to cry herself out.

"Officer, I didn't make a false report, everything I said is true. This small building belongs to my grandfather. He dotes on me and has bought me many things. I don't usually live here, but my things are kept in my room. Today..."

She recounted how she discovered the things were missing, then pointed to the open door: "If you don't believe me, you can check. I'm not lying!"

Xia Zhengyuan's face was as dark as the bottom of a pot.

When he was packing, he made sure to leave some for the old man, but now...

He ran quickly toward the cellar, while Xia Anyan lowered her head and curled her lips into a smile.

Oh, getting impatient?

Don't rush, take it slow, the better days are yet to come!
