Chapter 102 The Villains in the Deep Mountains?

After a few days of cutting pig feed with the little rascals, the day arrived when we could go up the mountain to find wild vegetables.

Wang Chunhua said that everyone went up the mountain together after having breakfast.

This was Lin Xiaoxiao's first time truly experiencing the mountains, and she was filled with curiosity and anticipation.

Although we may not find anything good on this trip into the mountains.

But Lin Xiaoxiao still habitually slung a basket over her shoulder and held a wood-chopping knife tightly in her hand.

A group of people set off into the mountains in high spirits.

"Stay close to the group, don't stray too far. If you see anything or anything happens, shout it out. Got it?" one of the men shouted to the crowd.

Everyone should be well.

The crowd slowly dispersed, exploring various parts of the forest.

Lin Xiaoxiao initially joined their activities and discovered that they were all looking for wild vegetables.

She decided to gradually act alone.

She found that the further she went, the denser the weeds became. Holding a machete, she waved it through the weeds while observing her surroundings.

She felt this place was still relatively remote, because she saw many children picking wild vegetables together here.

If the location is too far back, it's impossible to let a child stay here.

Lin Xiaoxiao wasn't very interested in the wild vegetables, thinking they didn't taste good, but she still casually dug up a few and threw them into the basket behind her, joining the crowd in their busy work.

She decided to venture further in, but the bushes ahead grew increasingly dense, so Lin Xiaoxiao used her machete to clear a path.

But when I made the cut, it felt like I'd hit something soft and squishy.

"How does it feel?" Without thinking, she swung the wood-chopping knife again with force.

Immediately afterwards, a dying hare was seen struggling.

He still had two cuts on his body from the machete, and he was barely alive, yet he was still struggling to escape.

"I'm so lucky today!" Lin Xiaoxiao was both surprised and delighted, as she was going to have fresh meat to eat again.

Lin Xiaoxiao quickly put the wild rabbit into her basket and covered it with a lot of wild grass.

After finishing, she continued walking in. She estimated that this area was still within a safe range. She had just seen quite a few burly men walking upwards.

Lin Xiaoxiao walked with less burden. As she walked, she picked some familiar-looking wild fruits and put them into her basket.

"Where's Lin Zhiqing?" An uncle looked around and, not seeing Lin Xiaoxiao, asked.

“Uncle, I saw her following Shuanzi in the same direction,” a young man said, pointing.

"Shuanzi is a reliable kid. Okay, let's keep looking." Uncle Wang was relieved and bent down to search in the grass again. Some of the more skilled people would set traps, hoping to catch a pheasant or rabbit to make some meat for their families.

Lin Xiaoxiao continued walking deeper into the mountains and forests. The further she went, the more different the scenery became, and the greenery grew thicker. This place was rarely visited by people, so apart from the occasional calls of wild animals, everything remained in its most primitive state.

All around were towering trees, their trunks so thick that it would take one person to wrap their arms around them.

Suddenly, something shiny in the distance caught her eye. Looking in that direction, she saw a clump of wild grapevines, laden with bunches of glistening purple grapes that looked incredibly tempting.

"There are so many wild grapes!" Lin Xiaoxiao's eyes lit up with excitement. These wild grapes are all-natural, she could try them.

Many grapes had already fallen from the vine, probably pecked off by birds or fallen on their own when ripe, but there were still many plump ones on the vine.

Lin Xiaoxiao could no longer restrain herself. She threw the machete in her hand on the ground, took off her basket and put it aside, and climbed up the grapevine with both hands and feet.

Lin Xiaoxiao picked bunches of grapes from the vine and threw them onto the grass below. The grass was thick, so the grapes wouldn't break when they fell.

She picked quite a few things here, and then she heard some familiar voices. It turned out that the educated youth and one or two older women had also come along.

Lin Xiaoxiao was puzzled. This was considered a relatively remote mountain area, so why had they separated from the main group?

However, considering that she had also separated from the main group, Lin Xiaoxiao didn't say anything.

Lin Xiaoxiao noticed that Wang Xue and Li Mei were also there, so she called them over and urged them to pick as many as they could.

Once Wang Xue and the others discovered it, the rest of the group also found the wild grapes.

Their eyes lit up when they saw the wild grapes, and they all grabbed them very quickly.

In those days, with no money and no food, even food tasted bland. Being able to eat wild fruits was already a great blessing.

"Xiaoxiao, you're so lucky today to have found so many wild grapes."

"Yes, Lin Zhiqing is really amazing."

Those who were able to pick wild grapes were also fortunate to have benefited from Lin Xiaoxiao's help.

Generally, when hunting in the mountains, whoever finds something first gets to keep it.

Unexpectedly, Lin Xiaoxiao was so generous that she didn't stop them from picking the fruit.

Wang Xue and her friend were lucky to have Lin Xiaoxiao's help; otherwise, the two of them wouldn't have been able to pick four or five handfuls of grapes on their own.

Seeing that the grapes were almost picked, someone first gave Lin Xiaoxiao a handful of wild vegetables, and then someone else gave her some mushrooms, as a way of exchanging gifts.

Lin Xiaoxiao didn't care what they gave her or how much they gave her; it was good that they were aware of it.

If she encounters someone who offers her a favor but then can't say anything nice, she'll make sure they don't get a single grape back.

Then, the group actively searched for wild vegetables and fruits.
