Chapter 210 Fighting at the Educated Youth Compound

Lin Xiaoxiao glanced at him. Lightning was growing up day by day. After wandering around the village a few times, he became familiar with the situation and started going out to play on his own. Now that they had finished their work and returned, Lightning was slowly coming back.

Lin Xiaoxiao squatted down and stroked Lightning. Just then, Han Qiushi returned.

Seeing that she was weak and listless, Han Qiushi took the initiative to cook dinner.

Lin Xiaoxiao assisted from the side. The two of them were having a great time, while the educated youth compound was much more lively.

After some of the educated youth who were able to move out, they all agreed to live together during the autumn harvest season. The male educated youth were responsible for chopping firewood, fetching water, and starting the fire, while the female educated youth were responsible for cooking.

Just as Li Mei placed the cornbread on the side of the pan, a commotion arose from the new educated youth's side. The sudden noise made Li Mei's hand tremble, and the last cornbread fell directly into the pan, splashing a lot of water.

Li Mei quickly stepped back, but her arm was still scalded by the hot water.

After realizing what was happening, she quickly checked the pancakes in the pot.

When Wang Xue saw this, she quickly pulled her to rinse with cold water, saying, "It's all food, even if it falls in, you can still eat it. Go rinse it off quickly."

"Yes, it tastes even better if it falls into the soup." The male educated youth who was tending the fire added a piece of firewood to the stove and hurried out to see what had just happened.

They didn't want to miss the lively entertainment available; after a long day, they were just looking for something to distract them.

The educated youth were divided into two groups to cook together, and today it was Du Li's turn to cook.

However, as soon as Du Li returned, she went back to her room to rest. Everyone was tired, so they didn't say anything. But everyone was cooking and eating. The aroma was wafting out from Wang Xue's place, but Du Li didn't even move.

Several educated youth couldn't hold back any longer and started shouting and cursing, saying all sorts of nasty things.

Du Li was really tired. She had planned to get up and cook when she felt better, but her muscles ached terribly as soon as she moved. Once she lay down, she just wanted to stick to the bed and couldn't get up at all.

She felt unwell. She was already feeling wronged coming here, and now that she was so tired, she felt even more wronged. She kept lying there with small pimples falling out. She wanted to go back, she wanted to go home, she wanted to do anything, anything was better than doing farm work here.

Upon hearing the educated youth next to her scolding her, she couldn't help but feel wronged and resentful, and the female educated youths started fighting, and still no one cooked.

The argument was so loud that people nearby came over to watch, and some who couldn't stand it would even try to offer some advice.

"Stop fighting!"

“Du Zhiqing, if you’re not feeling well and don’t want to cook, you should say so in advance. Maybe someone will be willing to switch with you. Everyone is tired after a long day. What’s the point of you lying in bed? If you don’t want to eat, everyone will go hungry with you.”

"What you're saying isn't right either."

"It's easy for you to talk when you're not the one suffering, isn't it? I see you standing there watching the show with great enthusiasm. Since you can't stand it, why don't you come and cook?"

With so many people living here, there's bound to be some trouble.

Many people initially intended to offer advice, but now it feels more like a fight.

Li Mei and Wang Xue stood quietly to the side, watching the drama unfold. They thought these people must have been slacking off during the day; they were so tired, yet they still had the energy to argue.

"They caused such a commotion over a meal. When I got back, I was too tired to talk. They have so much energy, but they don't seem to work as hard when they're doing chores."

"You say you're really hungry, but does that mean you don't need to exert any energy when you're fighting? Won't that make you even hungrier?"

Wang Xue's voice wasn't very low, and almost everyone standing next to her could hear it. Everyone couldn't help but laugh, and they all looked at her at the same time.

"Did I say something wrong?" Wang Xue wondered.

Li Mei smiled and shook her head: "You're right, what you said makes a lot of sense."

"Look at the way they're making a fuss. It seems the task assigned to the team today was too light. Look at their fighting spirit, they're clearly full of energy."

Liu Lele, who was standing next to her, also turned around and looked over. "That's right, I agree."

The noise was loud, and before long, many villagers were already perched on the walls watching the spectacle.

The male educated youth had just caused trouble in the afternoon, and now he was making a scene here again, so the villagers watching couldn't help but say.

"It feels like city people are even more boisterous than us. After a long day of work, they still have time to argue."

"Ha, I don't even want to talk about them anymore. When they're working, they all have such long faces, saying things like they can't keep up with the physical strength. But I'm just as good as them in our arguments. They're all so competitive, and nobody wants to lose."

The educated youth made a fuss for a while, until the aroma of Li Mei and the others cooking wafted out, and everyone gradually lost their desire to argue. The aroma made everyone's stomachs rumble, and they slowly dispersed.

"Today, our educated youth compound is definitely going to be famous in the village. People don't like us educated youth anyway. Just watch, once I spread the word today, we'll all be famous. Everyone will have something to talk about when they're working or eating."

"Exactly! It's all these people who are dragging us down. One of them avoids work, and the other doesn't want to cook. They all have a reputation for being lazy, and it sounds really good when it gets out!"

The farce finally came to an end, and in order to eat as soon as possible, everyone had to work together.

When it came to taking action, everyone had even more complaints about Du Li.

It would have been much easier if everyone took turns cooking, but now we have to do even more work.

After things calmed down, the educated youth compound quickly became quiet. It was tiring, and instead of chatting, people preferred to rest a little longer.

The autumn harvest took about half a month. It was fast, but the process was really grueling. It was also quite slow, much faster than the large group next to us.

These past few days, the villagers have all lost a lot of weight. Among the educated youth, two or three even fainted. The rest of them gritted their teeth and persevered. Regardless of how many work points they earned, the mere mention of the autumn harvest filled them with fear.

In other words, Lin Xiaoxiao and Han Qiushi were better off. Their meals were the best in Wangjia Village, with meat almost every meal, as well as fruit and eggs. Their diet was nutritionally balanced, and Lin Xiaoxiao even had a massage chair.

But when my body is supposed to feel sore, it still feels sore.

I can't move my arms and legs much. I've never been this tired even when I went up the mountain. My body is completely drained.

During this time, Han Qiushi would help Lin Xiaoxiao with her work after finishing his own, claiming that she was his girlfriend and he would definitely take good care of her.

The grain was brought in and stored in the granary. It got dark soon afterward, and several experienced old people saw this and couldn't help but feel relieved.

"Luckily, we worked quickly this year, otherwise if this rain had come, it would have been a whole year's work for nothing."

"yes."

Just three days after the autumn harvest ended, a torrential downpour began, accompanied by thunder and lightning, and the rain lasted all night.

The rain stopped the next morning, but there were still puddles of water on the roads and in the yard.

Lin Xiaoxiao glanced outside and saw that the village was also full of puddles of water. The team leader said yesterday that if it rained later, everyone should take a good rest.
