Han Qiushi felt as if he were holding a light cotton quilt when he hugged Lin Xiaoxiao; she felt no weight at all.
It doesn't feel as heavy as the backpack I use for training.
When Lin Xiaoxiao saw Han Qiushi carrying her, and he could still walk, she realized that his stamina was no joke; he really had some physical strength.
Han Qiushi walked down the mountain as fast as he could.
"You're all back, it's good that you're all back." As they approached the village, they saw Captain Wang, who had just picked up the child, come with a group of people to greet them. When he saw Lin Xiaoxiao being held by Han Qiushi, he quickly asked with concern if Lin Xiaoxiao was injured.
Seeing so many people staring at her, Lin Xiaoxiao insisted on getting down. "I'll put you down when we get to flat ground. It's not far, we'll be there soon."
After saying that, a group of people carrying children walked towards the village.
The group on this side relaxed, but the aunt and grandma at the foot of the mountain were extremely anxious.
"I wonder if they've found the child yet?"
"Everyone says it wasn't a human trafficker. What do you think, could it have been carried off by a wild boar or a wolf?"
"If that's true, then it's easy to find. Wouldn't a wolf bleed if it carried someone?"
"Can a person just disappear into thin air?"
These days, finding children relies entirely on manpower. There are no instruments or surveillance cameras. If you can't find them now, it's even harder to find them later.
"Stop talking nonsense, even Ah Gou's mother can't walk anymore."
The women who lost their children were all distraught, while the men all went to search for them.
Seeing this, everyone suppressed their gossipy nature. They all had children of their own, and it must be so distressing for them if their child got lost. Some of the aunties then dug out all the good and bad gossip they had in their hearts.
They were comforted.
Suddenly, I heard a noise ahead, and saw that several hundred meters away, there were torches and flashlights, making the area very bright.
"Have they found the children? It looks like they've all come back."
The aunties and older women here all perked up, "It might really be true, quick, let's go up and take a look."
As soon as she finished speaking, the anxious aunties rushed out.
Everyone wanted to know if the child had been found, and hoped it wasn't bad news.
The children's parents also wanted to go forward and see what was going on, but they took a few steps and their pace slowed down, fearing that there might be bad news ahead. However, their eyes were fixed on the front, hoping that their children were in the line.
The most nerve-wracking moment is when a knife hangs over your head, about to fall but not quite.
"Have they found him? They must have found him! My child is coming back!" Mancang's mother suddenly cried out, her eyes brimming with tears as she asked the aunt beside her.
"Don't worry, I'll take you there to see it right away." Seeing them like this, many mothers shed tears.
Soon, a group of people slowly approached. Several young men were seen carrying a person, and many shouted, "Found them! The child has been found!!"
Upon hearing this, several parents rushed forward and finally smiled.
But when I saw my own child being held silently, my heart sank. Would my child be alright?
Before they could even ask, Captain Wang reassured them, "The child is fine, he's just cold. Come quickly, come and check on him."
The village's barefoot doctor quickly stepped forward to examine the patient.
Amid the expectant gazes of the crowd, the barefoot doctor smiled and said, "It's nothing serious, the child is fine, just a minor external injury, and he got cold because he wasn't wearing extra clothes."
The parents breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
Lin Xiaoxiao thought to herself that the spiritual spring water was quite excellent at neutralizing medicinal properties.
Everyone was saying that Lin Xiaoxiao was the one who saved the child.
Upon hearing this, Mancang's mother was the first to kneel down before Lin Xiaoxiao: "Lin Zhiqing, you are my family's savior, thank you."
After Mancang's mother knelt down, all the remaining parents immediately knelt down before Lin Xiaoxiao.
"Thank you, Lin Zhiqing!"
"If you ever need our help in the future, just let us know, and we'll take no chances."
Lin Xiaoxiao quickly helped the person up: "No, this is a new society, you can't do this now, get up quickly."
“The children usually follow me around and help me with a lot of things, so don’t say things like that.”
Everyone was stunned for a moment, then they all pulled the person up.
On a small scale, this is simply a gesture of gratitude; however, if someone with ulterior motives wants to stir up trouble, they will exploit this to their advantage.
After they got up, they each took a child, bowed repeatedly to Lin Xiaoxiao, and then went back.
The child has been found; the rest of the group can disband now.
Several village officials called Lin Xiaoxiao and Han Qiushi to a stop.
How did the child end up in the cave? Everyone had many guesses and wanted to ask Lin Xiaoxiao if she had any thoughts on the matter.
Lin Xiaoxiao mentioned the sleeping potion, but no traces were found around the cave.
It's very late now, and we won't be able to reach any conclusions through discussion. Everything will have to wait until the children wake up.
Once everyone had calmed down, Captain Wang made arrangements, "Why don't you go back and get some rest and something to eat? If the police ask about it tomorrow, I'll come and get you."
Lin Xiaoxiao and Han Qiushi exchanged a glance and agreed.
Lin Xiaoxiao was a little tired, but it wasn't a big deal. Now that the child was awake, she should ask about the child's condition first, how could the child have been drugged?
The crowd was puzzled, but they followed the two of them out of habit. A large group of people gathered around the threshing ground, and on the way back, the villagers were discussing it heatedly.
How did three children end up in the cave?
