Lin Xiaoxiao didn't rush to explain. Instead, she took out a note from her pocket and handed it to Boss Wu.
Mr. Wu took it suspiciously, opened it, and saw that there was nothing else written on it except the names of those thugs and some information they had investigated.
This was written by Lin Xiaoxiao before she came out. The fact that their goods were intercepted was no secret in the capital. As long as she asked, it would be easy for people to guess her identity.
But by sending a note and finding an excuse, one can pretend that they are asking on behalf of someone else and avoid arousing suspicion.
When Boss Wu saw the names of the thugs, he paused for a moment, then glanced at Dr. Chen next to him. Judging from their expressions, they both knew what the people inside had done.
He just didn't expect that a young girl would ask him about this. He knew these people and who was behind them, but he didn't want to get involved.
It's all the gods fighting; it's best to stay away from things like this.
Seeing that Mr. Wu did not answer for a long time, Lin Xiaoxiao asked, "Do you know them? Are these people Mr. Wu's men?"
Mr. Wu had made up his mind. He still smiled at Lin Xiaoxiao, but he only said half of what he meant:
"I don't know them. None of these people are mine."
Seeing that he didn't continue, Lin Xiaoxiao understood what Boss Wu meant. Judging from his expression, he clearly knew who was in charge, but didn't want to say.
However, it's unlikely that Mr. Wu would reveal the person behind the scenes based on just one transaction. To know the details, the relationship must be quite close.
But after coming here, Lin Xiaoxiao realized that if this person wasn't one of his, then it was someone from the East City Black Market.
Lin Xiaoxiao didn't make things difficult for Mr. Wu, with whom she had only cooperated once. She simply said, "Mr. Wu, I'll get straight to the point. I'm here on someone's behalf, and if this matter can't be resolved, things will be very difficult for me."
"Coincidentally, I still have quite a few high-quality medicinal herbs that I need to sell. I'll give up 30% of my profits in exchange for your guidance on Mr. Wu's information?"
"Oh, young lady, you're being too polite. To be honest, this is not something someone like me can get involved in. I have a whole bunch of brothers who need to make a living, and I can't just ignore it." Seeing that Lin Xiaoxiao was decisive, Boss Wu was willing to say a few more words.
Seeing that Mr. Wu was unwilling to speak, Lin Xiaoxiao turned her gaze to Dr. Chen, who was looking at her as well. She asked curiously, "Have we met before?"
Dr. Chen smiled and shook her head: "No."
Lin Xiaoxiao: "Then why are you staring at me?" Could it be that Dr. Chen recognized her, or has he changed his taste to this style? That shouldn't be the case.
Her outfit today was not attractive at all. Her face was covered in black paint, her hair was messy, her eyebrows were thickened, and she even had a large black mole on her face. It wasn't just not pretty, it was downright ugly.
"I just feel that your figure, temperament, and voice are very similar to someone I know."
"Huh? Aren't all the girls on the street like me?"
“It’s different. You can dress up however you want, but you can’t create a certain look and spirit overnight. Your temperaments are all unique.” Dr. Chen was initially attracted to Lin Xiaoxiao’s face.
A pretty face can attract attention for a while, but without a unique soul to support it, it's just a beautiful shell. Lin Xiaoxiao is not only pretty, but it's her spirit that attracts him.
When Lin Xiaoxiao heard Dr. Chen say that, her heart skipped a beat. Could it be that he had recognized her? Dr. Chen was right. Facial features can be painted over, but height and temperament are indeed difficult to hide.
"I never thought I'd receive praise and affirmation from such a handsome man." Lin Xiaoxiao quickly took a sip of tea and laughed it off to Dr. Chen.
Just then, a beautiful woman came in looking for Mr. Wu. Mr. Wu gestured for them to sit down first, and said he would go outside to say a few words.
After finishing her tea, Lin Xiaoxiao asked Dr. Chen, "Is this handsome guy also in this line of work? He doesn't look like it."
Upon hearing this, Dr. Chen blinked and replied with a smile, "I am indeed not. I am a surgeon at XX Hospital."
"A doctor? Now that you mention it, it does seem like one. I'm curious, how did you and Mr. Wu meet?"
Seeing that Lin Xiaoxiao was quite interested in the tea, Dr. Chen poured her some, saying, "We've been friends since we were little, and friendship has nothing to do with profession."
Lin Xiaoxiao nodded and chatted with Dr. Chen, trying to get some information out of him.
Dr. Chen wasn't usually a good conversationalist, but he seemed exceptionally patient with Lin Xiaoxiao. As long as Lin Xiaoxiao didn't ask very personal questions, Dr. Chen answered almost everything.
"Dr. Chen is truly knowledgeable; he must know who the owners of those dogs are," Lin Xiaoxiao said casually in a lighthearted manner.
Dr. Chen was stunned. He looked at Lin Xiaoxiao intently, his gaze seemingly trying to draw her in. Finally, he sighed and nodded, "The master has always been lying in the east of the capital and has never left. If he can raise such a vicious dog, the master is no kind person. You'd better be careful, young lady."
Lin Xiaoxiao was stunned when she heard the answer; Dr. Chen had said it without any warning...
She paused for a moment, then took out an item wrapped in newspaper from her bag (space), and said, "Doctors save lives and heal the wounded; it's a profession I've always admired. This is my gratitude and my expectation. Thank you so much." Lin Xiaoxiao put the item down and turned to leave.
