Chapter 474 Should I Sign?

Li Qiutang stayed in the hospital for two days, and when she was able to walk again, she finally went to the police station.

She deliberately let Li's father stay at the police station for a couple more days. When she saw him at the police station and noticed that he was not in good condition, Li Qiutang breathed a sigh of relief.

Mr. Li was in very bad condition. His hair was a mess, and he had dark circles under his eyes and gray hair. It seemed that he had a very difficult time inside and had been tormented.

It was only after meeting Li's father that he learned that Han Qiulin had deliberately retaliated or had no other choice but to lock him in a room with a murder suspect.

The suspect had triangular eyes with a sinister look. When those eyes looked at him, cold sweat broke out on his entire back, and his legs began to tremble. He huddled in the corner, not daring to move. At night, he dared not close his eyes at all.

I'm afraid that if I close my eyes, the person in front of me will kill me.

The shock of the past two days inside was even greater than the shock of the past few decades. He kept praying that Li Qiutang could take him out.

Finally, on the third day, Li Qiutang appeared like a god, and she was saved.

But when he heard that Li Qiutang wanted a house before he could be released, Li's father hesitated, then jumped up and started cursing, giving Li Qiutang a thorough dressing-down. He said he would accept being locked in that room again.

Anyway, the detention is only for about ten days, and he can be released after that. It's torture inside, but the house is his lifeline. That's his bottom line. He can't give it to Li Qiutang, his daughter who is going to marry out of the country. He would rather suffer more than lose his lifeline.

Seeing that her father was not cooperating, Li Qiutang tried various forms of coercion and enticement, and eventually they even argued. When she realized that the time was right, she offered her second-best terms and agreed to sever ties with the Li family.

This severance of ties wasn't just about publishing it in the newspaper; it involved getting Li's father to sign the agreement she had prepared.

Li Qiutang will raise some money as a way to support her parents in their old age, but from now on, everything about her will be unrelated to the Li family, whether it's marriage, retirement, or anything else.

"No, I won't sign." Looking at Li Qiutang's face, Li's father firmly shook his head and refused.

This daughter is very likely to become an official's wife in the future. If I break off with him now, I won't be able to gain any advantage in the future. That's absolutely unacceptable.

"Are you sure you won't sign? If you don't sign, not only will you not get any money, but I also won't be with Han Qiulin. You don't actually think that we can become in-laws with someone we've made enemies with, do you?"

"I don't need to guess what you're thinking. You're just trying to take advantage of this big tree. But do you think he's stupid? Marrying a family full of ex-convicts. He likes me now, but do you think he can only have me and has no other choice?"

"The Han family can find any kind of girl they want, why bother with me, the family member of a convict?"

“If I cut off all ties with my family, there might still be hope for marriage, but as long as I’m even remotely connected to you, there’s absolutely no hope left.”

"Think about it, if you break off your relationship with me now and sign this, you can not only get the money I have, but maybe in the future, when you stop causing trouble and I marry Han Qiulin and my financial situation improves, I can help you out a bit and make your lives easier."

“But if I don’t sign this and sever ties, I won’t get the money. I’m destined to marry into an ordinary family and live a simple life. I might not even have time to live a good life with you.”

"Think carefully about which option to choose."

"Let me be frank with you, I'm a stubborn person. With you guys as my burdens, even if Han Qiulin loves me to death, I will not be with him."

“Being with him will only ruin him. Don’t you believe me? As long as you’re sure you won’t sign, I can turn around and make sure no one can find me anywhere in the world. Then I’ll move to another place and start a new life. That way, no one will know that my family are all ex-convicts. But we have skills, so we can still live a decent life. Even you are the same. I’ve abandoned you all.”

"I'll give you ten minutes to think it over. If you sign, I'll publish a notice in the newspaper to sever ties with you. If you still don't sign after ten minutes, then today will be the last time we see each other."

After speaking, Li Qiutang sat down steadily and carefully checked the agreement in front of her, looking for any omissions or errors.

No matter what Li's father said on the other end, she neither looked up nor made a sound.

After a few minutes of arguing, seeing that Li Qiutang was determined to ignore him, Li's father sat down quietly and stared at his daughter.

She felt like a complete stranger to her daughter. Both children had grown up in front of her, yet they had both become people she didn't recognize.

Unable to figure it out no matter how much he thought about it, Li's father stopped thinking about it and began to seriously consider his future.

After much deliberation, he reluctantly signed his name on the agreement.

Li Qiutang watched as her father signed the document and finally smiled, "That's right, you've done something smart."

Does this mean I can be with Han Qiulin?

After severing ties with her family, Li Qiutang planned to work hard to be with Han Qiulin for the long term. She wasn't stupid; Han Qiulin was the best man she had ever met.

Not only is he good-looking and from a good family, but the two of them also have feelings for each other and treat each other well. If I marry him, there will be fewer trivial matters in my life, and the children will be the crystallization of love.

She would be a fool not to fight for someone like that; if she misses out, she'll never have such good fortune again.

Who says good children can't fight for their own happiness? As long as it's reasonable and doesn't harm others, they can freely pursue their own happiness. Being a little bolder can sometimes make a big difference in life.
