Chapter 75 House Viewing

As the two were talking, Wang Dazhuang finally returned in an oxcart.

He excitedly ran out with the belt in his hand and gave it to Lin Xiaoxiao.

Lin Xiaoxiao didn't hesitate, took the belt and squatted down to work.

A few minutes later, Lin Xiaoxiao finished and wanted Wang Dazhuang to try lighting it.

Without Lin Xiaoxiao even saying anything, Wang Dazhuang immediately grabbed his tools and went to try it out that night.

He was thrilled. If the tractor was installed, he could just drive it every day and not only wouldn't have to work in the fields, but he could also earn full work points.

If he can actually get this tractor working, he'll thank Lin Xiaoxiao first.

Wang Dazhuang was shaking the tractor with all his might, feeling like he was about to make it smoke.

After trying dozens of laps, the clicking sound slowly began to emerge.

Upon hearing the voice, Wang Dazhuang grinned from ear to ear, looking at Lin Xiaoxiao with excitement: "Lin Zhiqing, you're amazing!"

"That's amazing!"

"Take this out and put it in, then the tractor will be ready to use."

Wang Shengli, standing to the side, also became excited, saying, "Lin Zhiqing, you've really helped the team a lot."

The villagers nearby faintly heard the sound of a tractor, and many kept looking towards the village entrance, trying to guess who had come to their village.

Those with good hearing said the sound came from the threshing ground.

Many people still didn't believe it: "Impossible, the tractors in our village have been broken for so long."

"Besides, where would we get so much money to repair it? This thing is good, but it will cost a fortune to repair."

Many curious people put down what they were doing to come and see what was going on.

There was already a group of people standing around watching at the threshing ground.

Wang Dazhuang didn't turn off the tractor because Lin Xiaoxiao said she wanted to look at it again to make sure she hadn't missed anything.

When Wang Dazhuang saw the villagers, he flashed a bright white smile and said to them, "This tractor will be fixed tomorrow, and once it's done, I can help plow the fields."

The group of people were quite happy to hear the news, and soon they turned their attention to Lin Xiaoxiao.

This little girl is quite pretty. What is she doing, standing and squatting there for a while?

Who is this little girl? I've never seen her before.

They must be newly arrived educated youth.

Seeing that more and more people were gathering around, Captain Wang quickly stepped forward and shouted, "Go back to work, there's nothing to see here. You can watch it every day once it's finished."

“They’ll all go back one by one; if they keep standing around slacking off, they’ll lose work points.”

Upon hearing that work points would be deducted, everyone's enthusiasm gradually waned. They thought to themselves, "That's true. If the tractor were good, we could watch it every day."

Lin Xiaoxiao took a closer look and found that apart from needing an exhaust pipe and piston plates, there were no other problems.

Wang Dazhuang confirmed that there was no major problem with the tractor, and his eyes narrowed with a smile.

Lin Xiaoxiao meant that although there were problems in those two places, they were all minor issues, and they were too broken to be used.

However, we replaced them as much as possible.

Hearing what Lin Xiaoxiao said, Wang Dazhuang felt a little itchy to go and immediately made a decision to take Lin Xiaoxiao to see the house at the end of the village with his father, Wang Shengli.

Lin Xiaoxiao readily accepted, and with her hands supporting her, she climbed into the tractor's back bed.

Wang Shengli also came up quickly.

Wang Dazhuang happily told the two of them to hold on tight, and then drove the tractor out of the threshing ground.

The roads in the village are not like the main roads from the city to the community. They are all dirt roads, uneven and full of potholes, making for a very bumpy ride.

Lin Xiaoxiao originally wanted to chat with Captain Wang, but at this moment she couldn't care less about anything else, because she was afraid of getting sand in her mouth, and also, if she didn't hold on tightly, she was really afraid that she would be thrown off.

I felt like my internal organs were about to be shaken out.

Not long after it started driving, a group of children appeared out of nowhere. Hearing the sound of the tractor, they excitedly chased after it.

They only stopped when they were too tired to run anymore.

Lin Xiaoxiao glanced at the surrounding houses again. The whole village consisted of low mud houses, with a few brick houses, but very few of them.

Each house had a pile of firewood in front of or in the backyard, giving it a dilapidated and desolate feel.

But this is what rural areas are generally like.

The tractor took about ten minutes to get from the threshing ground to the abandoned house. In those few short minutes, Lin Xiaoxiao felt like her face had gotten thicker.

The tractor stopped in front of a yard, and Lin Xiaoxiao jumped off the tractor nimbly and began to look at the yard.

I didn't expect the yard to be so big. Several sections of the inner wall were damaged, but the main gate was very sturdy and looked to be in good condition.

Captain Wang took out the key and unlocked the courtyard.

"You know what, you're pretty lucky. Someone was planning to buy this courtyard, but then there was a family conflict, so they built another house, and that's how it ended up here."

"It's just that the yard has been uninhabited for too long, so you need to tidy it up properly."

When they opened the door and went inside, they found that the yard wasn't particularly big, about 30 square meters. It was unattended, overgrown with weeds, and piled with garbage in the corners.

The owner of the yard didn't move all the things away. There's still a bamboo pole for drying clothes. It looks quite thick. After cleaning it, it can still be used.

The house has three rooms in total, half of which are made of adobe and the other half are made of blue bricks.

After passing through the courtyard, the main hall of the courtyard is right in the middle. There is a room on the left, but there is no kang (heated brick bed), and a lot of miscellaneous items are placed on it.

A kang (heated brick bed) was built in the room on the right, and the kitchen was right next to it. This way, the fire burned in the kitchen could also heat up the kang in this room.

The room wasn't very big; it just had a kang (a heated brick bed) and a window, but there was nothing inside. If someone moved in, a lot of things would have to be replaced.

After looking at the room, we went to see the kitchen. The kitchen was quite spacious, and the earthen stove had two burners, both of which could hold pots of the same size.

You can use one pot to stir-fry vegetables and another pot to hold hot water.

Go into the kitchen, and there is a relatively small bathroom.

The toilet is right next to the storage room.

Finally, there is a cellar behind the main room.

There was a musty smell near the cellar, so Lin Xiaoxiao and the others didn't go in to take a look.

The house isn't big, but it gets a lot of natural light, and the yard is neat and tidy after you clear away the weeds.

With a good cleaning, you can move in right away.

Lin Xiaoxiao was very satisfied with the overall situation; the environment here was far better than that of the educated youth settlement.

What I like most is that the location is secluded and offers excellent privacy, so I can eat however I want.

After asking about the rent, Lin Xiaoxiao immediately drew a ten-yuan note and said, "Uncle, I'll give you a deposit first. I'll make up the difference later as needed. I'll have to trouble you with the rest."
