Chapter 4: Emptying the Scumbag Father's Ill-gotten Gains

After dinner, having endured a day of turmoil, Liu Huiru fell asleep early. Qian Lai, on a whim, returned to his spatial dimension, removed the gauze from his head, changed into a black outfit, and, taking advantage of the quiet of the night, slipped through the factory's back gate into the long-abandoned chemical workshop.

Many years ago, a furnace explosion occurred here, shocking the nation and causing numerous casualties. Since then, it has been abandoned and neglected.

Even in the early summer nights, a cool breeze still blows here.

The vast factory was shrouded in a gloomy and eerie atmosphere. The enormous window frames were completely devoid of glass. A chilling wind blew in through the window frames, occasionally emitting a mournful "whoosh," like the weeping of wronged spirits.

Qian Lai tugged at her collar, feeling a shiver run through her body.

That Qian Jiangang! How could he even think of hiding his ill-gotten gains in a place like this?

During the day, the factory has designated personnel to guard the premises, and entry is strictly prohibited. At night, well, even if you offered money, no one would dare to come.

The beam of the flashlight, shrouded in immense darkness, resembled only a faint firefly.

She followed the factory wall, diligently searching for Boiler No. 2, where Qian Jiangang had hidden his money. Her path was constantly blocked by scrap steel and debris left over from the explosion. She hopped and skipped, dodging the obstacles as she looked up to find her target.

"Hiss." The thing I didn't want to happen still happened.

A long nail cut a long, bloody gash down her ankle, the pain almost causing her to stumble and kneel on the ground.

But in that instant, the flashlight fell to the ground, and following the beam of light, she saw that a flat area had been cleared away not far away. There were bedding scattered there, along with leftover food scraps.

What? People live here? And not just one or two!

I became even more nervous.

She scrambled to her feet, ignoring the pain in her injured foot. She needed to find her target quickly and get out of there as soon as possible.

Just as she was getting nervous, she turned around and went around that "habitat." The moonlight shone in and just enough to illuminate a large "2" for her.

The original spiral staircase had long since rotted away, and she tumbled and crawled into the boiler.

The place here was even darker than Qian Jiangang's heart. The walls were covered in scorched earth, and even a flashlight could only cast a few tiny shadows.

Tap your fingers on the walls of the boiler, and only black ash falls down.

Further investigate the boiler floor.

The sound is wrong!

Qian Lai painstakingly pried open the boiler's floor compartment, and a red cloth bundle wrapped in layers of plastic was just wedged between the coiled pipes.

Picking up the package, I found a metal box underneath.

When Qian Lai opened the tin box, good heavens! It was a whole box of ten-yuan bills wrapped tightly in a waterproof cloth.

Without giving it much thought, she stored the "spoils" into her spatial storage. She needed to leave this terrifying place as soon as possible.

Just as I peered out from the boiler hole, I suddenly heard a rustling sound of someone coming in.

not good!

She quickly hid in the space to observe.

After a long while, the sound seemed to have never existed, and the factory remained deathly silent.

Perhaps I'm too nervous! I'm scaring myself.

She calmly descended the dilapidated stairs, but after only two steps, suddenly, someone lifted her up from behind, a large hand encircling her slender waist, while the other hand cupped her small, palm-sized face.

Qian Lai was terrified and tried to struggle, but was firmly held down by two strong arms. A deep and magnetic male voice whispered in her ear: "Don't make a sound."

She tensed up reflexively, her heart pounding. Her entire back and lower back were pressed against his strong, broad embrace. It was so quiet that they could even hear each other's heartbeats.

She crouched down with him, using the angle formed by boiler number 2 and the wall behind it as cover, which allowed her to observe everything happening in front of her.

The space was a bit cramped. The man's warm breath kept brushing against her neck. She blushed, but thankfully the darkness helped conceal her face.

He glanced back at the other person unintentionally, and in the instant their eyes met, the man quickly withdrew his hand. He put a finger to his lips and said, "Shh."

The girl nodded slightly.

By the moonlight, Qiao Muting could see the face of the person in front of him clearly. Her bright eyes flickered, and her expression was as serious as if she were about to join the Party. Her thin lips were slightly pursed, and a smear of black ash had crossed her fair face, resting askew on the bridge of her nose, making her look just like a little white rabbit that had just been rescued from a trap.

A subtle ripple stirred within me for no apparent reason.

As the "little white rabbit" slightly twisted her waist, he instinctively helped her up.

Only then did he come to his senses and freeze in shock!

He, who is allergic to the skin of the opposite sex, just now... just now, when he covered the girl's mouth and pulled her into his arms, why didn't he feel anything unusual in his body? On the contrary, he seemed to enjoy being close to this woman! Even being close to her and feeling her aura made him feel melancholy all over.

What's going on? This has never happened before since I contracted this "strange disease"!

He knew his body was different from others. He would have a severe allergic reaction after touching the skin of a woman, and once he almost suffocated to death.

For him, the saliva, sweat, tears, and even... of the opposite sex are like poison.

But why is today different? This strange comfort almost made him lose control.

His brain was controlling him, trying to keep his body in line, but his willpower seemed about to collapse.

He looked down at the girl in his arms in disbelief. The "little white rabbit" was clearly curled up in fear, but she was trying to act tough. The faint scent of gardenias wafted from her dark hair, and her tight-fitting top outlined her perfectly developed figure.

He lowered his chin unconsciously, until it was only a hair's breadth away from the girl's forehead. His Adam's apple bobbed nervously as he leaned close to her ear, his own face burning first.
