My gaze fell on the fishing net, and I saw my second aunt pointing at the mantis shrimp and saying:
"The mantis shrimp are at their fattest right now, wow! There are so many roe on this mantis shrimp."
"Wanwan, do you want to buy some mantis shrimp to try? They're delicious!"
Jiang Wenwan took a look and realized that the mantis shrimp they were talking about was actually the mantis shrimp.
Goodness, she got it.
"Yes, I want as many as you want."
Hearing her so generous, the boat captain couldn't help but laugh, his tanned face revealing a set of white teeth.
"Who is this, Sister Jiang?"
That's quite a bold statement.
The second aunt was also taken aback by her niece's nouveau riche tone.
He then replied with a smile.
"My niece is here. She just came here with the army and everything is new and exciting to her."
How many mantis shrimp did you catch this time?
Don't listen to her. There are only four people in her family, and those two are still quite young. How much can they eat?
It definitely won't last.
Jiang Wenwan thought to herself: She's really going to be finished.
She can fit as much as she has in her space.
She addressed her second aunt as follows:
"Captain, how many mantis shrimps did you catch this time? I really want them all."
We'll share some with the women in our residential compound later; there might not even be enough!
Adding to the surprise, Aunt Jiang looked at her with a look of astonishment, seemingly not expecting that she actually intended to take them all...
Boatman Avenue:
"We caught quite a lot this time, about ten kilograms. How can you possibly take it all?"
"Okay, okay."
She loves mantis shrimp the most.
We should stock up now, as we'll need it to make shrimp paste, shrimp dumplings, shrimp balls, and more.
As they were talking, they saw fishermen on a boat picking sea urchins and throwing them into the sea.
Jiang Wenwan was taken aback.
"Oh dear, why throw this away? Sea urchins are edible!"
The fisherman laughed when he heard her say that.
"This thing doesn't have much meat, it's hard to eat, and it's not easy to sell."
Who has spare money and doesn't eat fish or meat? Why eat this stuff?
Jiang Wenwan was speechless.
"Then don't throw it to me, I want it."
After saying that, he pointed to the octopuses and said:
“I want all of these octopuses, and I also want these whelks.”
"Hey, there are even lobsters here! I want one too!"
Everyone, including Aunt Jiang, stared at her speechlessly.
When the boatman heard her saying she wanted this and that, he couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"If you keep demanding things like this, you might end up paying for everything that my ship brought back this time!"
Hahahaha.
Second Aunt was embarrassed.
"Please excuse my niece. This is her first time visiting our area, so everything is new and exciting to her."
Her behavior reminded me of when my husband and I first arrived here.
Back then, I was the same way. I was curious about this and that, and I wanted to take them all home to try them out.
Jiang Wenwan realized what was happening and gave an awkward laugh. She really wanted everything!
"I can't finish eating them all, so I'll just dry them all."
When you want to eat it, just soak it in water.
When fishing was prohibited, there was no fresh seafood to eat, so we ate dried seafood to satisfy our cravings.
After hearing her explanation, the boatman stopped laughing at her.
"You're right, Sister-in-law Jiang. Your niece is a thrifty person."
Okay, wait a moment while I sort these out and categorize them.
"If you want it then, I'll send it home to you."
Upon hearing his words, Jiang Wenwan immediately nodded in agreement and watched them unload the boat from the side.
Watching them categorize the various types of seafood in order.
She wanted everything that looked like it.
Mantis shrimp were especially plentiful, weighing 20 jin (10 catties) each time, and the boat captain was worried she wouldn't be able to finish them all.
"Can you handle 20 pounds?"
"Yes, yes, we can give some to our new military wives later. Each of them can only get a few, which isn't enough!"
If you ever come across mantis shrimp again, just call me, I want more.
I want this octopus and squid too.
Hey Boss Chen, you still have three big yellow croakers here!
These big yellow croakers aren't cheap! Sell them all to me!
Aunt Jiang, standing to the side, was completely speechless at her niece's boastful attitude.
She whispered closer to her and asked:
"You really intend to take them all? Can you even eat all of them?"
"Don't worry, Auntie. If we can't eat them all, we'll make them into dried fish. You can teach me how to make salted fish later."
Hearing her say that, the second aunt was speechless again.
In the end, it was the boat captain who carried the load on his shoulders and delivered all the seafood she wanted to her home, trip after trip.
"Wow, these mantis shrimps are quite plump. I'll buy some later."
After Aunt Sun finished speaking, the boatman gave a shout.
"I can't buy them anymore, they all have owners."
"Who is this? Can they possibly finish eating all this?"
Jiang Wenwan walked behind, carrying an empty basket in her hand.
"Whether I can finish the food or not is my business, so you don't need to worry about it, Aunt Sun."
When Aunt Sun saw it was her, she rolled her eyes.
That brat is always so rude and has no respect for elders whatsoever.
"I'm not trying to be mean, but there are only two people in your family, how could you possibly finish eating so many mantis shrimp?"
If you can't finish this and it goes bad, you'll get food poisoning.
Don't let your family members and children end up getting poisoned, and then we'll have to trouble the military doctors in our region to treat you. What's the point?
What a waste of time and effort.
Jiang Wenwan was speechless, thinking to herself that this person's words were simply unpleasant to hear.
How can you be so sure they'll be poisoned? It sounds like a curse.
