Zhou Yunting looked at him with amusement, and put the bone away, saying:
"If you want to eat, go catch a pheasant from the mountain yourself!"
Wu Weiguo shook his head. He was there to carry out a mission, not to go up the mountain to catch pheasants.
"No, is this bowl for Jiang Zhiqing to wash, or..."
Zhou Yunting smiled at him.
"Wash the dishes and give them back to Jiang Zhiqing!"
He then lowered his voice.
"I'll wash the dishes for you for a month when we get back!"
Wu Weiguo raised an eyebrow at those words.
He picked up his bowl and looked him up and down.
"Where's the bone? You still want to cuddle and sleep with it?!"
"Go away, it's none of your business."
After lunch, Jiang Wenwan rested for a while, and in the afternoon, she took her hunting rifle and went out with Sun Liangsheng.
She definitely had to go to the brigade leader's house to wait for the leader; she couldn't let the leader come looking for her.
On the way to the brigade leader's house, Jiang Wenwan saw that there were few people around, so she whispered to Sun Liangsheng:
"When I got back, I saw that he only had the broken leg wound from the fight I gave him; there were no other injuries."
It seems he didn't intentionally try to scam me.
"Besides, didn't I tell him to take his pants off? I checked both his legs."
Upon hearing her words, Sun Liangsheng pushed up his black-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose with his index finger.
"I see. So it seems he really wasn't trying to scam you."
Jiang Wenwan held a gun in her hand and raised her chin.
“I think so too. If he dares to extort money from me, I’ll break his other leg.”
When she arrived at the brigade leader's house, Secretary Kang saw her and was accompanied by a male educated youth.
Jiang Wenwan was the first to speak and explain.
"Hello, Secretary Kang, have you taken a lunch break?"
This is Sun, an educated youth from our settlement. When he saw that we were going up the mountain, he volunteered to help carry the rabbits and pheasants.
I thought about it and it made sense, so I agreed to let him come along.
Secretary Kang didn't say anything; he mainly wanted to test whether Jiang Wenwan's marksmanship was truly impressive.
He nodded and smiled:
"Alright, let's go up the mountain then!"
The brigade leader brought his eldest son along, and his eldest son is now the village chief.
Upon seeing him, Jiang Wenwan called out, "Uncle Zhang!"
Before starting work in the afternoon, the group of five went up the mountain.
Rabbits cost two yuan per pound, and a fat rabbit can weigh up to three pounds, so wasting a bullet wouldn't be a loss.
The main purpose was to let Secretary Kang see her marksmanship; otherwise, she would have just used a slingshot, which would have been cheaper.
They went up the mountain and walked further in. Not far away, a rabbit hopped right past them, seemingly unafraid of death.
Jiang Wenwan wouldn't normally pluck a feather from a passing goose, but how could she possibly resist taking advantage of such an adorable little rabbit?
He cocked the gun, held it close to his face, and aimed—all in one smooth motion.
"Bang!"
The rabbit fell to the ground with a thud.
To ensure the rabbit skin remained intact, Jiang Wenwan always pierced the head.
Upon seeing this, Secretary Kang couldn't help but exclaim in approval.
"Great! Well done!"
Jiang Wenwan grinned and gave Sun Liangsheng a wink.
Sun Liangsheng quickly ran over and picked up the rabbit.
When he saw Secretary Kang waving at him, he brought the rabbit to Secretary Kang to show him.
Upon seeing the rabbit's head, Secretary Kang couldn't help but nod in admiration:
"It seems your marksmanship is really good, Jiang Zhiqing!"
Who taught you your marksmanship?
Jiang Wenwan had already prepared her words.
"Reporting to Secretary Kang, I learned my marksmanship from my father when I was seven years old."
My father was a great soldier, but he later died a heroic death.
I've been practicing aiming ever since.
It was only after coming here that I touched a gun for the first time. I wasn't this accurate the first few times; it took several practice sessions to get this precise.
Seeing the little girl's innocent smile, Secretary Kang nodded.
He had looked at Jiang Wenwan's information before he came, and hearing her say this now, he couldn't help but feel moved.
"You are a family member of a martyr, and you came down to support rural development as an educated youth. That's very good."
"Come on, let's catch a few more."
Jiang Wenwan smiled and saw a pheasant.
He raised his gun again, but this time he missed.
Seeing her frustrated expression, Secretary Kang comforted her.
"It's okay. If you could hit the bullseye every time, you'd be a sharpshooter!"
Encouraged, Jiang Wenwan noticed that the pheasants, startled by the gunshot, scattered in all directions, and it wouldn't be easy to find them again now.
When we got to the spot where the pheasants were gathered, I poked around in the grass with my gun.
"Secretary Kang, brigade leader, village chief, I found two nests of wild eggs."
"Oh, that's great! We can add another dish tonight."
Secretary Kang nodded and said:
"To be honest, we have relatively more resources here."
Back when I was in Northwest China, it wasn't possible to hunt several pheasants and rabbits just by going up the mountain.
Eggs were collected from nests and clutches at will.
The captain smiled and shook his head.
"The produce was more abundant in previous years."
It's dangerous too. Look at last time, there were bears and wolves; even ordinary women wouldn't dare go up the mountain casually. It's still very dangerous.”
Secretary Kang agreed with what he said.
As the two walked and talked, Jiang Wenwan glanced at Sun Liangsheng, who was following behind Secretary Kang, while she was looking for pheasants and rabbits.
He's quite good at finding someone to follow.
In no time, Jiang Wenwan managed to hit the target once out of every two shots. Sun Liangsheng was carrying five rabbits, but only two pheasants.
Upon hearing the gunshot, the pheasant flapped its wings and flew away.
After the rabbit was startled, it wandered around and was still encountered by Jiang Wenwan.
They were now walking further and further inside when a yellow figure came into Tang Wuyou's sight.
