Chapter 105 The Heirloom Dragon and Phoenix Gold Bracelet (2/2)

Su Tang held the bracelet in her hand; it was heavy, unlike the dragon and phoenix bracelets sold in modern shopping malls which were only a thin layer of gold weighing a few dozen grams. She estimated that this pair of bracelets must weigh about a pound.

Most importantly, the dragon and phoenix carvings are so lifelike that they are clearly the work of a master craftsman, full of the sense of time and the meaning of blessings.

This is more than just valuable; it represents a family's recognition and inheritance.

"Mom, why did you take all this out?" He Shumin asked, both surprised and delighted.

She knew the significance of the bracelets; it meant that her mother-in-law regarded Su Tang as the future mistress of the Qin family.

"Such a good granddaughter-in-law, should I not take her out and keep her to take to my coffin?" Grandma Qin glared at her daughter-in-law, then looked at Su Tang with loving eyes, "Tangtang, try it on."

Su Tang did not refuse; she knew that refusing would be letting down the old man's kindness.

She did as she was told and put the heavy gold bracelets on her wrists.

The size was just right, and the warm gold against her fair skin made her look both noble and dignified.

"Beautiful! So beautiful!" Grandma Qin looked at Su Tang wearing the bracelet, her eyes narrowing into slits with satisfaction. "That's right! With this on, you're definitely the matriarch of the Qin family!"

Qin Ye stood aside, watching Su Tang under the light, pampered by her whole family and wearing a family heirloom on her wrist, and couldn't suppress the corners of his mouth.

The family meeting ended in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

On the way back to my little courtyard, the night was as still as water, and the moonlight was bright.

As soon as he entered the courtyard, Qin Ye closed the door and, unable to hold back any longer, scooped Su Tang up in his arms and strode into the house.

"Hey, what are you doing!" Su Tang was startled by his sudden action and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

Qin Ye gently placed her on the bed, then knelt on one knee beside the bed, took her hand, and stared intently at the pair of dragon and phoenix gold bracelets, his eyes surging with intense emotions.

He lowered his head and placed a burning kiss on the cool bracelet and her warm skin.

"Wear this," he looked up, his voice low and hoarse, "and you'll never escape me in this life, the next, or the life after that."

Su Tang's heart skipped a beat. Looking into his deep, starry eyes, she said softly, "I... didn't intend to run away."

A smile instantly spread across Qin Ye's eyes. He leaned down, his nose touching hers, his hot breath spraying onto her lips.

The wedding date is set for the eighth day of the first lunar month.

The Qin family is in for a lot of work now.

He Shumin, holding Qin Zhenbang's hand, took out a small notebook and spent every day planning the guest list and banquet menu.

Grandma Qin even dug out all her cloth coupons, grain coupons, and meat coupons from the bottom of her trunk and stuffed them all into Su Tang's hands, telling her to buy cloth to make new clothes and to buy more good food to nourish her body.

Watching her family bustling about preparing for her wedding, Su Tang felt a warmth that almost overflowed in her heart. For the first time in her life, she understood what it felt like to be cherished.

The wedding and the Chinese New Year fell together, which meant there were even more things to prepare.

Su Tang pulled Qin Ye along, planning to first visit the military service center and the supply and marketing cooperative in the city. She wasn't really hoping to buy anything—what wasn't there in her spatial storage?—but she wanted to experience the warmth and everyday life of a young couple furnishing their home together in this era.
