Chapter 163 A Max-Level Boss Becomes a Rookie (2/2)

There is no doubt that undergoing rigorous physical and espionage skills training is the first step to becoming a spy.

A barely perceptible hint of surprise flashed in Xiao Dongsheng's eyes.

He hadn't expected that this young girl could see through his intentions so quickly and show no signs of being spoiled or resistant.

He nodded, his voice now carrying a genuine respect: "Comrade Su An, welcome to the team. I have high hopes for your performance."

...

It was late at night when we returned to their cozy little courtyard.

The new stove was burning in the house, making it warm and cozy, but the air felt unusually heavy, making it hard to breathe.

Without saying a word, Qin Ye pulled out the old leather suitcase that Su Tang had used when she came from the cabinet and began to silently pack her luggage.

The dim lighting cast a long shadow of his tall figure on the ground, making him look somewhat lonely.

He folded Su Tang's best and thickest wool coat and put it in the box. His fingers ran over the soft fabric. He paused, then, as if he had thought of something, took the coat out and put on a more ordinary-looking cotton overcoat, which was also grayish in color.

When you go to the recruit camp, you can't dress too conspicuously.

He carefully wrapped the few pieces of fruit candy that he had just received a few days ago, which he himself couldn't bear to eat, in layers of oil paper, and stuffed them into the innermost corner of the box, afraid that they would be crushed.

Then, he took out a handful of dried yak meat from an earthenware pot in the kitchen. He had made it especially for her because he was afraid she would crave it.

He packed it into a clean cloth bag and stuffed it in, muttering, "The food there is probably not good. You have a weak stomach, so if you get hungry, just sneak a bite to tide you over."

Throughout the entire process, he didn't say a word, his jawline tightly clenched, like a silent sculpture.

Su Tang leaned against the door, quietly watching him.

She knew he was upset.

This upright and strong man was used to sheltering her from the wind and rain, and used to protecting her under his wings.

But now, he could only watch helplessly as she walked alone down a path full of thorns, unknown dangers.

This feeling was agonizing for him.

Su Tang walked over and gently wrapped her arms around his rock-hard waist from behind, pressing her cheek against his broad back.

"Okay, that's enough... I can't fit any more. I'm not going there to enjoy myself. If I bring so much stuff, the instructors will confiscate it on the first day."

Qin Ye's body stiffened for a moment, and he said in a muffled voice, "Then let them confiscate it. At least it'll give you something to eat on the way."

"Six months will pass quickly," Su Tang said softly. "Besides, Chief Xiao said that those with outstanding performance can graduate early. When I get back, I'll drag out all those rats hiding in the shadows, one by one. Then we won't have to be separated anymore."

Qin Ye slowly turned around and, without saying a word, pulled her into a tight embrace.

He was incredibly strong, as if he wanted to meld her into his very bones. Su Tang could even hear his slightly erratic heartbeat.

After a long, long time, he whispered in her ear, "Promise me you'll take care of yourself."

"Um."

"Inside, no showing off, no playing the hero. If you can't keep up with the training, so be it; if you get scolded, so be it. Don't get injured, understand?"

"Um."

"The bed boards there must be very hard, and the blankets must be folded into neat squares. Your hands are delicate, so don't get them chafed... If anyone bullies you, just write it down and tell me when I come to see you, and I'll take care of them for you."

"Okay." Su Tang's eyes were a little hot. She nodded vigorously, her voice slightly nasal.

"Wait for me... I'll come see you as soon as I have a vacation."

"good."

Qin Ye wasn't actually worried that she would be bullied in the military camp.

He knew better than anyone how to disguise an eagle as a chick and an all-around agent as a green recruit.

The worst part isn't being bullied, but the feeling of being restricted and stifled...
