Chapter 164 A Temporary Farewell, Heading to the Training Camp (2/2)

Su Tang had already changed her clothes.

She wore a faded, old cotton coat and had two thick braids hanging down her chest. She looked like a somewhat rustic and naive girl from the countryside.

She stood in front of the mirror, looking at the completely unfamiliar "Su An" in the mirror, and gently exhaled.

Qin Ye stood behind her, looking at her reflection in the mirror. His Adam's apple bobbed, and his eyes welled up with heartache.

At the car, Xiao Dongsheng personally came to see her off. He looked at the completely transformed Su Tang and nodded in satisfaction.

“Once you get to the training camp, everything will be done according to the rules. It will be an absolute military operation. You will have to completely forget your past, your abilities, everything about you.” He concluded with these words of advice. “Remember, from now on, what you need to do is adapt to the identity of ‘Su An’ and become stronger.”

"Yes, sir." Su Tang stood at attention and deliberately gave a less-than-perfect military salute.

She turned around and took one last deep look at Qin Ye, who stood in the cold twilight.

He was still wearing that crisp military uniform, his figure standing tall like a cedar tree, the sunset casting a golden glow on his silhouette.

His gaze pierced through the cold air, locking onto her firmly, filled with a thousand unspoken words, which ultimately transformed into a reluctant farewell.

"Waiting for you to come back."

Su Tang felt a warmth in her heart, nodded vigorously to him, and then resolutely turned around to get into the car.

The moment she opened the car door, Qin Ye's large hand covered hers.

His palms were burning hot, while hers were icy cold.

He didn't say anything, but just squeezed her hand tightly, as if trying to transfer all his warmth to her.

Then he let go.

Su Tang boarded the jeep that would take her to the training camp.

The car door closed, the engine started, and the jeep slowly drove away from the courtyard.

Su Tang immediately turned around and saw Qin Ye's figure getting smaller and smaller through the back window, but he remained standing in the same place, like a statue waiting for his wife, until he completely disappeared around the corner.

The jeep drove out of Sunshine City and bumped along the desolate Gobi Desert for a day and a night.

When the car finally stopped at what looked like an abandoned military post, Su Tang woke up from a nap in the car just as dawn was breaking.

Xiao Dongsheng's bodyguard jumped out of the car and handed over the duties to another officer who was already waiting there.

The officer, expressionless like an emotionless stone statue, took a sealed manila envelope from the guard, checked the sealing wax, nodded, and didn't utter a single word throughout the entire process.

The guard saluted Su Tang and drove away without saying a word.

Su Tang, carrying her old leather suitcase, followed the stone-carved officer and was led onto a military green bus parked behind the military station.

This vehicle is really dilapidated. Its body is covered with scratches and yellow sand, and there is even a layer of fine wire mesh welded to the windows. From the outside, it looks like a prison van used to transport criminals.

As soon as I got in the car, a smell of sweat, dust and cheap engine oil hit me.

There were already twenty or thirty young people, both men and women, sitting in the car, but the atmosphere was terribly oppressive.

No one spoke; everyone's face was filled with confusion, unease, and a hint of suppressed frustration.

Su Tang's gaze quickly swept across the carriage.

She understood. The people in the car had clearly divided into two small circles.

The young people in the front row, although dressed in ordinary clothes, had clothes made of much better materials and tailored, with their hair neatly combed and an undisguised arrogance on their faces.

They sat together without speaking, but the sense of superiority in their eyes was unmistakable; they were clearly soldiers with some kind of background.

On the other side, in the back seats sat several young men with dark skin and rough hands. Their eyes were filled with more vigilance and restraint, and their clothes even had traces of mud on them, clearly indicating that they came from the countryside or the grassroots.

Su Tang carried her suitcase and went straight to the last row, sitting down in the corner by the window. She placed the suitcase at her feet, leaned against the window, closed her eyes, and pretended to be an ordinary girl exhausted after a long journey.

She needs to start getting used to the identity of "Su An" now.
