Chapter 209 Another Yellow Flag Received (2/2)

So, being powerful is such a... fascinating thing.

"Get lost," Su Tang coldly uttered.

Only when they reluctantly crushed the signal flares and waited for the instructors to take their places did Chen Xiaocao finally let out a long sigh of relief, her whole body going limp as she leaned against the cold tree trunk.

She looked at Su Tang with an astonishingly bright gaze, her voice carrying a hint of admiration and excitement that she herself was unaware of.

"Su An...you...you're amazing!"

Looking at Chen Xiaocao's face, flushed with excitement, and her bright, adoring eyes, Su Tang's heart softened.

This child isn't inherently bad, he's just too timid and insecure.

“It’s not that I’m better,” Su Tang shook her head, helped Chen Xiaocao up, and said calmly, “It’s that we’re better.”

"Us?" Chen Xiaocao was stunned.

“Yes, us.” Su Tang’s gaze fell on the rifle that Chen Xiaocao was still gripping tightly. “Just now, if it weren’t for your shot, which, although it missed the target, successfully attracted Li Gang’s attention and created an opportunity for me, I wouldn’t have been able to take him down so easily.”

Chen Xiaocao's eyes widened suddenly. She looked at Su Tang in disbelief: "But...but I missed..."

“On the battlefield, things change in an instant. Sometimes, an unintentional action can be the key to victory or defeat.” Su Tang patiently explained, “Although your shot didn’t hit anyone, it successfully revealed the enemy’s position and drew his hatred to you. This created the best opportunity and route for me to attack.”

Su Tang paused, looking at Chen Xiaocao's thoughtful expression, and continued, "Xiaocao, you must remember, we are a team. In a team, no one is useless; everyone has their own role. Your task is not to become me, but to become the best version of yourself."

To become...the best version of myself?

As Chen Xiaocao pondered those words, it felt as if something had struck her heart heavily.

She had always felt like a burden, a liability. She desperately wanted to catch up with Su Tang and become as strong as her.

But now she realizes that she can never become Su An.

But she could become the one who could draw attention to Su Tang and create opportunities for her when she needed her.

"I..." Chen Xiaocao opened her mouth, her eyes a little red, "I understand."

"Yes." Su Tang nodded with relief. She knew that the seed had been planted completely.

She took the green flag from Chen Xiaocao's hand, making a total of five green flags, or fifty points, along with the four she had found earlier.

This score, given that the assessment has only been going on for a little over three hours, is definitely among the best.

But Su Tang's goals go beyond that.

She broke off a piece of biscuit and handed it to Chen Xiaocao, then took one for herself to replenish her energy.

The two continued deeper into the dense forest.

With this successful experience, Chen Xiaocao became even more confident. She was like a tireless radar, constantly guiding Su Tang in the right direction.

With Chen Xiaocao's precise guidance, they quickly discovered another isolated team.

They were very good at camouflage, knowing how to use bushes and leaves to bury their entire bodies in the ground. If Chen Xiaocao hadn't been particularly sensitive to plants, an ordinary person wouldn't have been able to spot them at all.

Chen Xiaocao found a plant that emits a sweet smell and can attract a large number of flying insects.

She smeared the plant juice on several stones and threw them near the bushes where the team was hiding.

Soon, the two unfortunate men were harassed by swarms of mosquitoes and had to reveal their location in order to avoid the flying insects.

The result is self-evident.

"Bang! Bang!"

After two gunshots, Su Tang and Chen Xiaocao gained another yellow flag among their spoils.

With 20 plus 50, they now have 70 points! This score is enough to secure their place in the top three!

Chen Xiaocao hugged the six flags—one yellow and five green—and her face turned bright red with excitement.

Just then, a series of hurried, stumbling footsteps came from the depths of the forest, accompanied by the cracking sound of branches breaking.

Su Tang's eyes narrowed, and she immediately made a shushing gesture, pulling Chen Xiaocao to quickly hide behind a huge ancient tree.

A figure covered in mud stumbled out of the bushes. She was running so fast that she lost her footing and fell hard to the ground with a painful groan.

It's Wang Xiaoya!
