She was quickly reviewing the events in her mind.
She had underestimated her opponent. She admitted it.
She thought that Liu Landi and Wang Xiaoya, whose performance was below average, would be so frightened by being surrounded by six people that they would surrender without resistance.
But she never expected that the two seemingly frail girls would display such astonishing will to survive and speed in such dire circumstances. Especially Liu Landi, who was practically a born jungle hunter.
Just as Zhao Yan thought everyone had accepted her plan and was preparing to set off with her people, a clear, cold voice reached everyone's ears.
I disagree.
The three words, like three pebbles thrown into a calm lake, instantly stirred up a thousand waves.
The air seemed to freeze at that moment.
The one speaking was Bai Wei.
She raised her head, her eyes devoid of any emotion, calmly looking at everyone.
Zhao Yan turned to look at Bai Wei: "What did you say?"
"I said, I disagree." Bai Wei met Zhao Yan's gaze without flinching or avoiding it, repeating each word clearly, "We can't keep blindly chasing after her like this."
"What do you mean?" Zhao Yan took a step forward, getting closer to Bai Wei, and a tense atmosphere instantly filled the air between them.
Bai Wei, however, seemed oblivious to the anger in her eyes and continued her logical analysis:
“Zhao Yan, calm down and think about this. First, this forest is so big, and Wang Xiaoya has been running for at least ten minutes. Even if we are professional scouts, it will take a lot of time and effort to track someone in this kind of environment. By the time we find them, it will be almost dark.”
She paused, her gaze sweeping over Zhao Yan, whose face was growing increasingly pale, before continuing to reveal an even crueler reality.
"Secondly, and most importantly, why do you think Su An would sit still and wait for us to come to her? She's definitely not someone to be trifled with. If the five of us chase after her in such a high-profile manner, we might just be walking into a trap she's already set up."
Bai Wei's voice rose slightly, carrying a hint of sarcasm: "Have you forgotten how Liu Dafu was eliminated?"
"you!"
Bai Wei's words were like a resounding slap across Zhao Yan's face.
Of course she hadn't forgotten!
Liu Dafu was tricked by Liu Landi, the hunter's daughter who was usually inconspicuous, because he was chasing too fast!
Despite their superior numbers, they were led by the nose by a bait, ultimately failing to capture anyone and suffering losses on their side.
This is a joke if you tell anyone!
But to just let Su An go like that? She was unwilling! Just thinking about Su An's face made her grit her teeth in hatred!
"Then what do you suggest we do?" Zhao Yan forced down her anger, almost gritting her teeth as she asked, "Are we just going to let it go like this? Bai Wei, don't forget why we formed this alliance in the first place! It was to take down Su An first!"
Bai Wei looked at her, a barely perceptible hint of pity flashing in her eyes, before correcting her, "Zhao Yan, you've got it wrong. My goal is to get the highest score, to be number one in this assessment."
"Eliminating Su An is only one step in achieving this goal, but it is not the only one, much less the whole thing."
Bai Wei's ambition was laid bare before everyone at this moment.
