Chapter 247 A Battle for Survival Between Camps (1/2)

Chapter 247 A Battle for Life and Death Between Camps The training ground of the camp was now filled with students who had rushed over after hearing the news.

Dust billowed across the yellow earth, and everyone, like Su Tang, looked utterly bewildered.

People huddled together in twos and threes, lowering their voices and whispering amongst themselves.

"What's going on? They suddenly called us to assemble. I thought there was going to be an earthquake!" a male soldier whispered to his comrade next to him.

"I don't know. Are they going to give me some kind of surprise test again? My heart can't take it."

"No, look at those instructors on the platform, their faces are as hard as iron plates, it's terrifying."

When Su Tang and Chen Xiaocao walked into the group one after the other, they immediately attracted a lot of attention.

These past two days, everyone in the camp has been training hard in the mud and water, their clothes almost soaked with sweat.

There were only Su Tang and Chen Xiaocao, who, because of that "free training right," spent their time either in the library or in the gun workshop, as if they were on vacation at the training camp.

Especially those male soldiers who had just witnessed Su Tang's amazing skills in the weapons workshop, their gazes toward her had completely changed.

It was no longer the disdain and contempt of before, but a complex emotion that was hard to explain.

Gao Kai stood at the very front of the line, deliberately keeping a distance from Su Tang.

He lowered his head, staring at the tips of his shoes, his face still somewhat pale.

He dared not look at Su Tang. The sight of that slender figure reminded him of the gambling match that had been nothing short of a public execution, and of the humiliating "Teacher Su" he had been told. A burning pain still lingered on his cheek.

Bai Wei stood in the ranks of female soldiers, casting a strange glance from afar.

She was extremely puzzled, unable to understand what had just happened in the workshop. How could it be that in the blink of an eye, even Gao Kai and his group of arrogant male soldiers looked at Su An differently? Like mice seeing a cat.

As Bai Wei pondered this, a strange sense of irritation welled up inside her.

Just then, a series of heavy and powerful footsteps sounded.

Chief Instructor Lei Kuan, with his perpetually stern and icy face, strode confidently onto the podium.

His sharp, hawk-like gaze swept across the entire field, and the once noisy playground instantly fell silent. Everyone subconsciously straightened their backs and even held their breath.

The playground, which had been buzzing, fell completely silent in an instant.

"I've gathered you all here today to announce an important order!"

Lei Kuan's voice was as loud as a bell, making people's ears ring.

"We have just received orders from the military headquarters that, starting tomorrow, our Battalion 3 will conduct a three-day joint military exercise with our brother unit, Battalion 2!"

Joint exercises?! And there are other camps?

"Whoosh—"

A thunderous uproar erupted from the crowd!

"What? There are other camps? I always thought we were the only ones!"

"What is Camp Two? Where is it? I've never heard of it before?"

"Conducting an exercise with a sister unit? What's the purpose of this? To see who's better?"

Lei Kuan coldly watched the restless crowd below, without stopping them.

He waited until the initial shock subsided a little before speaking again, and this time, his words were even more explosive than his previous statement about "joint exercises."
