Chapter 285 The Fall of the Gun God, Total Collapse (2/2)

"Da da da..."

A dense rain of paint was splashed over.

Beside Gao Kai, the few remaining soldiers of the first squad were hit one after another by accurate bullets, their bodies exploding with blue paint as they were eliminated.

In the blink of an eye, of the fourteen-man assault team led by Gao Kai, only Li Si remained, hiding behind another rock, barely clinging to life, except for Gao Kai himself.

Looking at his fallen brothers around him, and then at Gao Kai kneeling on the ground not far away, looking utterly dejected, a trace of sorrow flashed in Li Si's eyes.

He crawled to Gao Kai's side, shook his shoulders violently, and growled, "Gao Kai! Wake up! This is not the time to be dazed! We need to find a way to retreat!"

Gao Kai didn't react at all, just stared blankly at the scorched earth after the explosion like a puppet, muttering to himself, "It's over...it's all over..."

...

Just as Su An's raiding squad was on the verge of collapse and despair, the battle on the main battlefield of Battalion 3 had reached its most brutal stage.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The grenade launchers of Battalion 2 seemed tireless, firing grenades one after another, trailing flames, stirring up clouds of smoke and explosions on Battalion 3's position.

Jiang Yan's first line of defense had long been bombed beyond recognition.

"Hold on! Everyone hold on!"

Jiang Yan's voice was completely hoarse. He hid behind a sandbag fortification that had been half-destroyed by the bomb, constantly encouraging the few remaining soldiers.

His military uniform was torn in several places, and his face was covered with black gunpowder and mud. Only his eyes shone brightly in the firelight.

"Zhuoyue! Are your traps still working?!" Jiang Yan shouted into the walkie-talkie.

"Report to Command! The last booby trap just exploded! We took out one of their forward squads, but... there are too many of them! They're charging up again!" Zhuoyue's heavy breathing came through the walkie-talkie.

As the elite soldier of Battalion No. 3, skilled in setting traps, Zhuoyue had given it his all. Utilizing the terrain planned in advance by Su An, he set up tripwires, pitfalls, and bamboo spikes, causing considerable trouble for Battalion No. 2 in the first half hour of the battle.

But as Zhuoyue said, the disparity in troop strength was simply too great.

Yuan Bao was determined to wipe out the Third Battalion in one fell swoop. He commanded his four squads, more than fifty men, to launch wave after wave of attacks.

The traps were cleared one by one, and the defenses were compressed inch by inch.

Jiang Yan watched helplessly as the soldiers around him were splattered with large patches of glaring blue paint, and then fell unwillingly to the ground.

In the distance, Yuan Bao's arrogant laughter came through the loudspeaker, clearly resounding in the ears of every soldier in the Third Battalion.

"Jiang Yan! You coward! How long are you going to hide? Your defenses are as flimsy as paper! Charge! Everyone, push forward! Within half an hour, I want to see the flag of Battalion Three planted on our dining table!"

Yuan Bao's maniacal laughter and humiliation lashed at the nerves of the remaining soldiers of the Third Battalion like a whip.

"Damn it! Let's fight them!" A young soldier, his eyes red, was about to jump out of the trench.

"Come back!" Jiang Yan yanked him back and roared, "Do you want to die?! Hold the line! That's an order!"

Just then, Zhuo Yue, looking disheveled, scrambled back to Jiang Yan's side.

"Commander... we can't hold on!" Zhuoyue's voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible. He pointed behind him and said desperately, "The firing positions on the east flank have fallen silent, and the west flank will soon follow! We... have less than twenty men left! And we're almost out of ammunition!"

Jiang Yan's heart sank to the bottom in an instant.

The raiding squad has lost contact.

The main battlefield is on the verge of collapse.

Is it... really going to be a loss?
