Chapter 396 The Final Farewell 1 (2/2)

It's Wang Xiaoya.

The moment Su Tang saw that familiar face, her pupils suddenly shrank to the size of pinpoints.

At this moment, the world lost all sound and color.

She stood still, a dozen meters away from the tree, unable to move forward even an inch.

Her mind was blank; she couldn't think of anything or feel anything.

Just then, two powerful auras swept past her from behind.

Qin Ye and Lei Kuan have arrived.

They spotted the person hanging in the tree immediately, and also saw Su Tang frozen in place.

"Su An?" Lei Kuan exclaimed in astonishment. How could she be here? And even faster than them?

Qin Ye's gaze lingered on Su Tang for a fraction of a second, a hint of doubt and intense unease flashing in his deep eyes, but he had no time to think about it further.

Saving lives is the first instinct!

Without the slightest hesitation, he rushed forward, leaping up like a cheetah, using the tree trunk for leverage, and with his other hand, his military knife moved with lightning speed, slicing through the taut belt in one stroke.

He caught the falling body steadily, held the already cold and stiff little girl in his arms, and laid her flat on the ground.

Lei Kuan also rushed over, squatted down, and his face turned ashen.

With absolute composure, Qin Ye's long, slender fingers probed Wang Xiaoya's nostrils and then quickly pressed against her cold carotid artery.

Time seemed to have passed for a long time, yet it also seemed to have only been a moment.

More and more soldiers gathered around, all holding their breath and staring intently at the scene. Chen Xiaocao and Liu Landi also squeezed in, and when they saw the person on the ground, Chen Xiaocao's legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground, unable to utter a sound.

Finally, Qin Ye stood up and, facing everyone, gently but clearly shook his head.

"The person... is gone."

His voice was low, yet it struck everyone's heart like a heavy hammer.

"The body was already cold; it had been dead for at least an hour."

Qin Ye's voice wasn't loud, but it was like a thunderclap detonating in the quiet morning.

"No--!!!"

A heart-wrenching scream rang out; it was Chen Xiaocao. She scrambled over, trying to embrace the small body on the ground, but Lei Kuan stopped her.

"Don't touch it! Protect the scene!" Lei Kuan roared hoarsely, his eyes bloodshot.

Liu Landi rushed over as well. She didn't cry, but bit her lip so hard that it bled, and stared at Wang Xiaoya on the ground with red eyes.

"Little girl..."

"How could this be... She was perfectly fine yesterday..."

"Why would she do something like that!"

The female soldiers watching could no longer hold back and burst into tears. The male soldiers who had spoken to Wang Xiaoya, trained with her, and eaten with her also fell silent, their eyes red-rimmed, creating a suffocatingly oppressive atmosphere.

Gao Kai squeezed through the crowd. When he saw Wang Xiaoya on the ground, and then Su An not far away, looking as if his soul had been ripped out, he felt a chill run from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. He wanted to go forward, but his legs felt as heavy as lead.

Jiang Yan stood on the periphery of the crowd, his brow furrowed. His gaze wasn't fixed on the corpses, but rather on Su An, the first to arrive at the scene, who was now unusually silent. He keenly sensed that things were far from simple.

Bai Wei mingled in the crowd, her head lowered, her hand covering her mouth, her shoulders slightly trembling, as if she were crying sadly. But if anyone could see her face, they would notice the smug smile that she couldn't suppress.

After announcing the death, Qin Ye's attention immediately focused on Su Tang.
