Old Master Qin seemed easy to get along with, so he hummed in agreement and nodded with a smile.
Grandma Qin gave a faint "hmm," but didn't linger on Su Tang.
Qin Ye frowned and subconsciously moved closer to Su Tang.
He Shumin quickly smoothed things over: "Mom and Dad, eldest and second eldest, you must be tired from the journey. Please get in the car, everything is ready at home."
The family dinner that evening was held in the Qin family's small dining room, where a long table was laden with dishes that He Shumin had carefully prepared.
Everyone was present, but the atmosphere was strangely heavy.
Grandma Qin sat in the main seat, slowly sipping her tea, glancing at Su Tang from time to time.
Finally, she put down her teacup and slowly began to speak. Her voice was soft, but it reached everyone's ears clearly.
“Our Qin Ye is not young anymore. I think the granddaughter of Commander Wang in our Beijing compound is a good match. She just graduated from university. She is good-looking and progressive. I think she is very good.”
The moment those words were spoken, the air at the dinner table seemed to freeze.
He Shumin was the first to lose her composure; her smile froze.
"Mom! What are you saying! Qin Ye and Tangtang's marriage was arranged a long time ago. Tangtang came all the way from Shanghai. How can you say such a thing!"
Qin Zhenbang's face darkened, and he put down his chopsticks.
"Dad, Mom, Shumin and I both agree to this. Tangtang is such a bright and intelligent child, we love her very much."
Qin Ye's older brother, Qin Chuan, also spoke up: "Grandma, let Qin Ye decide his own affairs."
Second sister-in-law Fang Lei's eyes darted around, and she smiled as she smoothed things over: "Yes, Grandma, look how beautiful Third Brother's wife is, she's like someone from a painting. It's such a show to take her out. Besides, with Third Brother's personality, a girl who can get him to nod her head must be amazing."
In an instant, everyone in the family, except for the old man, stood firmly on Su Tang's side.
Old Mrs. Qin was speechless as the family took turns attacking her, her face turning ashen. She never expected that her words would stir up such a hornet's nest.
She slammed her chopsticks down hard!
"Good! Good! They've all grown up and become independent! They're all taking sides with outsiders now!"
Her chest heaved with anger.
Just then, Qin Ye, who had been silent all along, spoke up.
He put down his chopsticks, looked up, and stared at Old Mrs. Qin.
"grandmother."
"In this lifetime, my wife, Qin Ye, will only be Su Tang."
These words were like a bombshell, exploding in the restaurant.
Grandma Qin was so angry at his unyielding attitude that she couldn't speak. She pointed at him and kept saying "you, you" for a long time before finally standing up abruptly.
"I don't care anymore! Do whatever you want!"
After saying that, she turned around and went into the inner room, slamming the door shut with a loud bang.
Seeing this, He Shumin winked smugly at Su Tang.
Seeing how much effort this family had put into her cause, Su Tang felt a warmth in her heart.
Her original plan was that if this family was difficult to get along with, she would make a quick getaway.
Surprisingly, apart from the old lady, everyone else was quite helpful, especially Qin Ye.
It was nighttime, and Su Tang had just finished washing up and was about to go into her spatial dimension to take a look.
"Knock knock knock".
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
Qin Ye walked in.
He walked up to Su Tang with a bulging cloth bag in his hand and handed it to her somewhat awkwardly.
"For you."
Su Tang took it; the cloth bag still carried the warmth of his palm.
She was stunned when she opened it.
Inside were several savings books, a thick stack of brand-new "Great Unity" coupons, and various denominations of grain coupons, cloth coupons, meat coupons, industrial coupons, and even a few bicycle coupons and sewing machine coupons.
In the corner of the cloth bag, several military medals were carefully placed.
"This is all the allowances and bonuses I've accumulated since I enlisted."
Qin Ye's voice was somewhat deep, but his eyes were unusually bright as he stared straight at her.
"From now on, what's mine is yours."
Su Tang looked at him, and thought, "This guy is really... kind of cute."
She teased him on purpose: "With so much money and tickets, aren't you afraid I'll run off with it?"
Qin Ye looked into her eyes, his expression unusually serious: "If you run away, I will chase you to the ends of the earth and bring you back."
That look in his eyes didn't seem like he was joking.
It's more like a... promise.
