Chapter 67 Is this girl just lucky, or...? (2/2)

Su Tang took a deep breath. "Hmm, the negative oxygen ion content is off the charts. What a great place."

Qin Ye walked ahead, holding a sharpened military knife in his hand, occasionally swinging it to cut through the vines and thorns blocking his path.

He walked steadily, his eyes scanning his surroundings warily like an eagle's.

Every tiny sound seemed to catch his ears and eyes.

Su Tang followed behind him, quite content with the peace and quiet.

She looked around at the strangely shaped plants with curiosity.

"Qin Ye, look at this. It looks like a little lantern, all red. Can we eat it?" she asked, pointing to a clump of low bushes bearing bright red fruit.

Qin Ye glanced back and shook his head: "Don't touch anything. Many things that look pretty are poisonous."

Su Tang pursed her lips, thinking to herself: This thing is called "fire charcoal mother". The fruit is edible, sweet and sour, and the leaves can be used as medicine.

However, she didn't say anything, and obediently said "Oh".

After walking for about half a day, the sun had already begun to set in the west.

Qin Ye stopped at the foot of a hillside.

The terrain here is relatively flat, sheltered from the wind and sunny, with a babbling brook not far away.

"Let's set up camp here." Qin Ye put down his backpack and surveyed the surroundings.

"Okay, whatever you say." Su Tang also thought this place was nice.

Qin Ye's wilderness survival experience is clearly impressive.

He first deftly pulled out a tarpaulin and a few sharpened wooden sticks from his backpack, and quickly set up a simple rain shelter that could accommodate two people to rest.

Then he searched the area again and soon returned with a large bundle of dry pine needles and dead branches.

"Tangtang, you rest for a while, I'll go get some tinder." Qin Ye said, and began scraping some birch bark with his military knife.

Watching his practiced movements, Su Tang took out a small leather bag from her purse.

"Here, this is for you."

Qin Ye took it and opened it. Inside were some processed, soft, and dry white fibers, like cotton wool.

"This is...?" He was somewhat surprised; this thing was much better than the birch bark he had scraped.

"My grandma taught me how to make it. You mix dandelion fluff with some special grass, dry it, and it can be used as kindling. It'll light instantly," Su Tang said, making up a story without batting an eye.

This was actually a premium tinder she made using cotton fibers from her spatial storage, with a little bit of combustion-aiding powder added.

Qin Ye didn't ask any more questions, only feeling that his wife was truly a treasure.

He pulled out a flint and steel from his pocket, standard equipment for wilderness survival in that era.

"Click! Click!"

The flint and steel struck together, producing a few sparks.

Qin Ye carefully guided the sparks toward the "dandelion fluff" that Su Tang had given him. The fluff "poof" and a small wisp of blue smoke rose up, followed by a small cluster of flames.

"It works really well!" Qin Ye's eyes lit up, and he quickly added some small dry twigs to the flames.

Su Tang watched from the side and handed over a few dried pine needles at the right time.

She also "accidentally" placed the kettle next to the kindling. A gust of wind blew by, the kettle shook, and a few drops of water "just happened" to spill onto a slightly thicker piece of firewood that hadn't fully caught fire yet.

Qin Ye was about to say something.

Su Tang, however, quickly picked up a palm-sized, very dry piece of pine resin (pine wood rich in resin) from the ground. With a cry of "Oops," as if she hadn't held it properly, the piece of pine resin fell right into the fire, landing next to a slightly damp piece of firewood.

When the pine torch encountered a spark, it immediately burst into flames with a "whoosh," the flames becoming much stronger than before, and incidentally igniting the slightly damp piece of firewood as well.

"..." Qin Ye looked at Su Tang with a complicated expression.

Is this girl just lucky, or...?
