Chapter 31 A Chance Encounter, Discovered by Commander Qin's Troops

These cookies were made with flour, eggs, and spiritual spring water from her spatial dimension. They were simply baked, so the taste was naturally much better than the coarse grain cookies of this era.

Old Li took a bite, and his eyes lit up: "Oh my! Sister Su, your cookies are so delicious! They're even better than the foreign-style cookies sold at the supply and marketing cooperative."

Su Tang noticed that Old Li was always rubbing his knees, so she said, "Brother Li, your old leg pain must flare up as soon as it gets cold, right? My grandma knows some folk remedies, I'll get some medicinal wine for you to apply."

Su Tang took out a small bottle of medicinal wine from her spatial storage and handed it to Old Li.

Old Li applied some of the product to his knee with some skepticism, and after a short while, he felt a burning sensation, and his previously sore joints actually felt much more comfortable.

"Wow! Su girl, your medicinal wine is amazing! It's even more effective than the plaster prescribed by that old Chinese medicine doctor in the county!" Old Li was completely convinced by Su Tang.

Now he was completely convinced by Su Tang. This girl was not only beautiful and kind-hearted, but also quite capable!

In fact, Su Tang wasn't overflowing with a saintly heart; rather, she was very good at winning over strangers' hearts with small favors.

It's just a simple act, enough to make a stranger lower their guard.

Her guiding principle is to always leave herself room for maneuver, no matter where she is.

Perhaps a casual act of kindness could yield a reward ten thousand times greater than what she is currently giving in a changing environment.

Overall, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

As the car drove through a mountain pass, the sky suddenly darkened.

A cold wind howled, and large snowflakes began to fall with a crackling sound.

"Oh no, it looks like it's going to snow heavily!" Old Li looked at the white, snow-covered mountain road ahead with some worry.

Su Tang remained unusually calm. She put on her headphones and listened carefully to the sounds coming from the bug.

"Damn it! The cops in Rongcheng seem to have caught wind of it! Tell the brothers to get their act together and speed things up!" A rough male voice cursed impatiently.

"Boss, our secret code doesn't seem to be working anymore. Could something have gone wrong?" another voice asked anxiously.

"What's the panic! Proceed according to the original plan!"

Su Tang's eyes sharpened.

This group was more alert than she had anticipated, and if they had indeed gotten wind of the situation, they might change their course.

She said to Old Li calmly, "Brother Li, we need to hurry and try to get to the next guesthouse before dark, otherwise the heavy snow will block the mountain and cause trouble."

Old Li thought it made sense, so he stepped on the gas, and the beat-up jeep roared as it sped forward through the wind and snow.

The wind and snow were getting heavier and heavier. The jeep's tires suddenly slipped on a steep, winding snow slope, and the vehicle slid to the side of the cliff!

"Hold on tight!"

As soon as Su Tang finished speaking, the jeep suddenly lurched to the side!

The tires spun wildly on the icy, snowy mountain slope, and the entire vehicle slid uncontrollably toward the edge of the cliff!

"My goodness!"

Old Li was terrified. He frantically turned the steering wheel, but the car was like a wild horse that had broken free of its reins and wouldn't obey him at all.

Su Tang's face remained expressionless, but her eyes narrowed slightly.

He jumped from the back seat to the passenger seat, quickly took over the steering wheel, and firmly held it.

"Squeak—!"

With a screeching sound, the car seemed to be pulled back by something, suddenly stopped, and came to a close on the edge of the cliff, with half of the wheels hanging in the air!

"Huff... huff..."

Old Li's face was deathly pale, he was breathing heavily, and cold sweat was pouring down his forehead like rain.

He turned back to Su Tang, trembling, and said, "Su... Su sister... we... we're blessed by our ancestors!"

Su Tang withdrew her hand without changing her expression and said calmly, "Brother Li, it was just good luck. Stay calm, let's slowly move the car back."

Old Li didn't dare to say anything more; whatever Su Tang said went.

In his eyes, this Su girl was simply a goddess descended to earth; just now, he thought he was going to die here!

The car was back on the road, and Old Li's gaze towards Su Tang had changed from initial politeness to a hint of awe.

"Su Meizi, you...you really are...I've traveled all over the country for so many years, and I've never seen such a calm and lucky girl like you!"

Su Tang smiled slightly: "My grandmother taught me some survival methods in the mountains, saying that sincerity is key."

Old Li nodded repeatedly: "Yes, yes, the old man is right!"

He now has complete faith in Su Tang's "folk remedy taught by his grandmother," how could he dare to say it's not true? Everything you say is right.

The wind and snow showed no signs of abating.

Su Tang said to Lao Li, "Brother Li, there seems to be a convoy ahead. Let's keep our distance and follow them. The snow is heavy and the roads are slippery, so don't get too close."

Old Li now listens to Su Tang's every word: "Okay, don't worry, Su sister!"

Meanwhile, dozens of kilometers away, at Yingchoujian.

Qin Ye's troops had already laid in ambush amidst the swirling snow.

The soldiers, dressed in thick cotton-padded clothes, lay prone in the snowdrifts, their gun muzzles wrapped in white cloth, blending seamlessly into the snow, motionless, like snow sculptures.

Guided by Su Tang, Old Li's jeep slowly trailed about two kilometers behind the convoy of Nationalist remnants.

As they drew closer to Eagle's Sorrow Gorge, Su Tang could clearly sense the faint, chilling aura in the air.

Qin Ye's temporary command post was set up in a secluded mountain valley.

Observation post Xiao Wang, holding up his binoculars, reported in a low voice: "Commander, suspicious convoy spotted three kilometers ahead! More than a dozen trucks, covered with tarpaulins, look like they're transporting supplies! They're heading towards our ambush zone!"

After a pause, Xiao Wang added, "Reporting to the regimental commander! About two kilometers behind them, there's an old military green jeep!"

Qin Ye held the binoculars, his brows furrowed.

"jeep?"
