She slowly, inch by inch, turned her head back.
Chen Xiaocao was standing at the door of the washroom, holding a washbasin, looking at her with a puzzled expression as she squatted on the ground, her movements strange.
Chen Xiaocao had just returned from the cafeteria and was about to get some hot water to wash up when she saw this scene as soon as she entered the room.
Bai Wei's face, under the dim light of the washroom, was as white as a sheet of paper. Her eyes were filled with terror and madness, and coupled with her squatting on the ground frantically digging at something, she looked extremely eerie.
"What...what are you doing?" Chen Xiaocao was startled by her appearance and couldn't help but ask again.
Bai Wei's gaze fell on Chen Xiaocao's face, then slowly moved down to the colorful scraps of paper on the ground.
She saw it!
She saw it!
This thought exploded in Bai Wei's mind like a bomb!
"What are you looking at?!"
Bai Wei, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, suddenly leaped up from the ground, pointed at Chen Xiaocao, and let out a sharp, distorted scream.
"Get out! Get out of here! This is none of your business!"
Her reaction was unusually intense, filled with the madness of someone who had a guilty conscience.
"I...I..." Chen Xiaocao was so frightened by her appearance that her soul almost left her body. Her face turned pale, and her hands holding the basin were trembling. She stammered, "I...I just came to get some water..."
"What are you doing, fetching water! Don't! Get out!"
Bai Wei rushed over like a madwoman, shoved Chen Xiaocao aside, and then slammed the door to the water room shut and locked it.
Chen Xiaocao stumbled and almost fell when she was pushed, spilling water from the basin all over the floor and onto her trouser leg.
She stared at the closed door, still shaken, her heart pounding wildly.
Bai Wei... what's wrong?
What was she picking at while she was squatting on the ground? Why did she react so strongly?
Chen Xiaocao's mind was in chaos. She dared not linger any longer. Clutching the washbasin, she ran back to her dormitory as if fleeing.
In the water room.
Bai Wei leaned against the cold door, panting heavily, her chest heaving violently.
It's over.
Chen Xiaocao saw it.
Although she may not have seen what it was, she definitely saw herself doing something abnormal.
Will she tell anyone?
Will she tell Su An?
Fear and suspicion, like two venomous snakes, were frantically gnawing at her heart.
She slumped to the ground, her gaze falling once again on the pile of scraps of paper that she could never clean up.
In the dim light, those papers seemed to transform into a pair of eyes, a pair of eyes belonging to Wang Xiaoya.
He was quietly watching her.
Late at night, the lights-out signal rang out on time.
The dormitory building of Battalion No. 3 was instantly plunged into deep darkness.
The hustle and bustle and exhaustion of the day were swallowed up by the thick, impenetrable darkness of the night, leaving only the occasional chirping of insects outside the window and the even breathing of the female soldiers in the dormitory.
Su Tang lay on her bed, her eyes open, calmly looking at the bed board above her.
Most of the people in the dormitory were already asleep.
Besides her, there was also Bai Wei in the next bed.
In the darkness, from the direction of Bai Wei's bed, came the constant rustling and suppressed sounds of turning over, as well as her heavy and rapid breathing, which could not be concealed no matter what.
She was like a fish thrown ashore, struggling desperately and futilely on her bed.
In the darkness, Su Tang's lips curled into a cold smile.
That origami crane was just an appetizer.
