Chapter 364 is just so-so.

Zhang Qiang lowered his head even further, unable to utter a single word; only his shoulders trembled slightly.

He knew that even if he could be exonerated, he would never forget the despair in Feng Qiushi's eyes, nor would he forget the way he had pushed her into the abyss.

Xu Xinghe didn't look at him again. She turned around and walked to the door of the woodshed. Looking at Xu Mingli, who was sleeping inside, her eyes were devoid of any warmth.

Xu Mingli, Feng Qiushi, and Zhang Qiang have all been arrested, and all the evidence has been gathered.

I finally got my revenge.

As for other forms of torture, Xu Xinghe didn't want to do them anymore.

Seeing Xu Mingli's half-dead state, she suddenly felt that it was nothing special.

Revenge wasn't as satisfying as she had imagined.

If it were when she had just been reborn and had such an opportunity, she would have loved to chop Xu Mingli's head off.

But now, her mind has gradually become more peaceful, and her life is getting better and better. Xu Mingli is no longer worthy of being her true opponent.

Now we just need to wait for Jiang Linchuan and the others to return so that these people can be handed over to the military and receive the punishment they deserve.

As the sun gradually set, it cast long shadows in the courtyard.

Xu Xinghe stood in the courtyard, looking at the sunset on the horizon, and let out a soft sigh of relief.

The nightmare that had haunted her for two lifetimes was finally about to end.

Xu Xinghe went to see Lao Hei. "Brother Hei, you must keep a close eye on these three people. Send reliable brothers to watch over them 24 hours a day. Don't let them escape, and don't let them contact each other. Especially Feng Qiushi, she's determined to die now, so keep a close eye on her and make sure she doesn't take her own life."

Old Hei patted his chest and assured her, "Miss Xu, don't worry! I've separated them into three different places, with two people watching each one. Not even a fly can escape! I'll have someone keep a close eye on Feng Qiushi; I guarantee she'll be fine."

Xu Xinghe nodded, said no more, and walked out of the bathhouse with Zhang Cishu, getting into a jeep and returning to the military headquarters.

After an unknown amount of time, Xu Mingli was roughly woken up in the woodshed by his younger brother.

He opened his eyes groggily, his throat so dry it felt like it was on fire, and he could barely make a sound.

Before he could react, his underling grabbed his chin and brought a water ladle to his mouth, instantly gushing cool water in.

Xu Mingli pounced on his food like a hungry wolf, swallowing the water frantically. The thirst accumulated over the past few days had made him lose his mind. Water dripped down the corners of his mouth, wetting his clothes, but he didn't care at all, only caring about drinking the water in big gulps.

Later, he choked on the water and coughed violently, tears streaming down his face. But he still held on tightly to the water ladle until it was empty, and only then did he reluctantly let go, unconsciously licking his lips.

Seeing that he had drunk enough, the younger brother took out a white flour pancake, broke off a piece, and stuffed it into his mouth.

Xu Mingli chewed frantically as if he hadn't eaten in centuries, crumbs falling all over his face, but he didn't bother to wipe them off. He just kept stuffing the pancakes into his mouth and quickly finished the whole pancake.

The younger brother packed his things, turned around and left without saying a word or tormenting him any further.

The woodshed fell silent again, with only Xu Mingli sitting on the ground, his stomach full of food and water. The long-lost feeling of fullness helped him recover slightly, but what followed was a deep-seated fear.

Why?

Why did Xu Xinghe suddenly give him water and food?

She had previously tortured herself to the point of exhaustion, feeding him dry flour, making him wear thick cotton-padded clothes, and subjecting him to mosquito bites, all to force him to submit.

But he hadn't given in yet, hadn't confessed everything, so why did she suddenly stop?

Do they feel that physical torture is not enough and want to switch to an even more terrifying method?

Or does it mean that something even more unbearable awaits him tomorrow?

Xu Mingli grew increasingly frightened as he thought about it, and his unease grew wildly in his heart like weeds.

He curled up on the ground, his eyes fixed on the door of the woodshed, terrified that some terrible person would come in at any moment and do something even more cruel to him.

Even though his stomach was full and his throat was no longer thirsty, he felt even worse than when he had been tortured before. His heart was pounding and even breathing had become difficult.

Xu Mingli didn't sleep a wink that night.

He just lay there with his eyes open, lost in thought in the darkness, trembling with fear at the slightest sound.

He even began to regret it, regretting why he had been so stubborn in the first place. If he had confessed earlier, would he have avoided these unknown fears?

The next morning, the door to the woodshed was pushed open, and Xu Mingli jumped up from the ground with a start, looking at the doorway with a pale face, thinking that it would be Xu Xinghe who came in.

But in the end, it was the same underling from yesterday who came in, holding a water ladle and some flatbread. He still held his chin down to pour water down his throat and broke the flatbread to feed him. He didn't say a word the whole time, and left as quickly as he finished feeding him, as if he were just completing a task.

Xu Mingli's heart sank to the bottom.

This continued for two more days.

Every day, his underlings would come to bring him water and food on time. They would not hit him, scold him, or torment him, but they would not say a word to him either, as if they treated him as an inanimate object.

But the more this happened, the more frightened Xu Mingli became.

The fear of the unknown was like an invisible net, trapping him tightly and making it hard for him to breathe.

His mental state deteriorated, his eyes became unfocused, his face turned pale, and his mouth twitched from time to time, making him look like he was going crazy.

Compared to the torment he experienced a few days ago, this silent mental anguish was even more unbearable for him.

He even began to hope that Xu Xinghe would appear soon, even if it meant continuing to torment him, so that he wouldn't have to live in constant fear and be consumed by this boundless terror.

The sun had not yet completely set over the military compound.

A series of footsteps broke the tranquility of the courtyard.

Jiang Linchuan and Lian Xiao walked side by side, both still a little travel-worn, but their ease after completing the mission was undeniable.

Jiang Linchuan pushed open the courtyard gate and saw Xu Xinghe wearing an apron and walking out of the kitchen, carrying a plate of freshly stir-fried vegetables.

She has recently started cooking for herself, mainly because she sometimes misses the cafeteria's mealtimes.

If the cafeteria were to prepare special meals for her, it would be fine once or twice, but it wouldn't be good to do it too often.

"You're back?" Xu Xinghe's face immediately lit up with a smile. She quickly stepped forward and naturally took the things from Jiang Linchuan's hands. "Hurry up and wash your hands. Dinner will be ready soon. I also made some pork rib soup today."

Lian Xiao followed behind, seeing that her heart and eyes were only on Jiang Linchuan, he felt a pang of bitterness and said loudly on purpose, "It's so much more comfortable here at Xinghe. After eating dry food for days outside, my mouth is practically tasteless."
